well then do tell why that affected us at all...i mean why are you saying we failed? if anything we didn't give them any sort of "practice" for the post season.... good to know they played their asses off and we played 1/2 ass and they only beat us 4-3 Hope to see them in the post season...

do explain why that game was a playoff type game for us? is it because we might be facing them in a few weeks... because all i see it as is a game in which we need to stay healthy and do what we need to do to enter into the playoffs with a full healthy roster. Then and only then will it be playoff style games for us. How can you perform at playoff level when you aren't even in a playoff game. The intensity is 100x that of a regular season game in game 1 (from a fans perspective) i can't imagine the feeling it would be for a player. With that said, there is no reason for the wings to be playing balls out kill yourself hockey right now (leave that to the other teams still fighting for that lowly 8th seed) this is our time to focus on the games coming up in a few weeks. if we were the team fighting for a spot then you better believe i would be concerned, but to call these final games a playoff type game... that couldn't be farther from the truth.

isnt that a statment made by say a master of the obvious? Of course the offense has to score goals to win (I beg you to offer up one example of a goalie winning without the offense/defense scoring goals to cover his GA). and whopty do... scoring 4-5 goals a game in the post season to cover a 3.3gaa is what we did on several nights last playoffs... why should this time around be any different. not to mention we have a lethal scoring threat in Hossa this time around. Both of our goalies are more than adequate for the forwards to cover the spread... It makes the winning all the sweeter when we can do it with a team that isn't viewed as the best in the league (also meaning the goalies that aren't on the top of the stats charts) We have to play better when there is a sense of urgency (I mean real urgency, not the OMG we might get shut out by the last place team in a meaningless game) So far when we had to rise to the occasion against opponents we have been able to do so collectively

lol my bad... i forgot about the two initial wins.... but didn't the first two games have the 8sec apart goals? either way.. dom was yanked and it wasn't a knee jerk reaction (which was the moral of my post) it was after consideration seeing his play go down hill when it mattered most... as for the hasek situation last year... it worked out fine because we had a reliable person on the bench... MUCH like this season if something should happen in the first round or later. You have to remember we don't have Mr. Legace as a fall back guy (even though he did rock as a backup here)

Well thats just a load of bulls***... look at how many times Robby has made it to the playoffs with a defensely s*** team in front of him.... and look at how many cups he has playing with a decent team in the Vancouver canucks... that just blows your ideas right out the window... Robby is clutch AND can get us the cup. Get it done Kenny make that trade NOW!!!

    The curse of the Ex-Wing

ah very true... whenever he was on the Bj's i was all about Nash more than him lol Oh and i guess Bobby is a curse as he finds ways to F*ck us pretty hard haha

you are calling being down 2 games to zilch with pretty questionable goals getting let in 8seconds apart in BOTH games a knee jerk reaction? that was more like a necessity. We didn't waive him or kick him off the team... If Ozzie would have faultered then perhaps they would have went back to him to try to finish it up.

    The curse of the Ex-Wing

Fedorov always kinda blew against us.... didn't Lapointe also suck when he would play us?

problem is without Hossa AND Franzen we lose a huge chunck of our Goals For... sure we could possibly cut down our Goal Against... but what we gain in the Goals Against category will be lost even more in the Goals For sticking us in the same "if not worse" scenario.

and really the goalie is the most noticeable becuase 1) he is the last line of defense when the other 5 fail and b) he is on the ice for usually a full 60mins where the rest of the guys maybe a 1/4 of that time at most. and yes they are the most visable player on the ice when they are having an off night... and thus easiest scape goats to pick (i have been caught blaming goalies in the past)

Actually i really don't care tbh... Ozzie is my favorite Wing and I enjoy watching him play night in and night out despite his ups and downs. Seeing 4 cups in my lifetime is way more than most can ever hope to accomplish so really i am very content now with just watching my favorites play. I am a fan of the sport itself and the game. Having your childhood home town team win it all is quite nice, don't get me wrong. But at this stage in my life and the recent success the wings have had on a season to season basis... its time for me to enjoy whats left of my favorites careers. Personally I do feel everything is going to be okay, i am not going to be two-faced about it.... Seeing Ozzie in the games makes me happy... personally i was more scared the last few seasons with hasek in net than i ever was with ozzie in net. Call me a fan of a specific player or whatnot... i consider myself a fan of the game as a whole. winning is nice but it sure as hell isnt everything to me. I would rather watch a losing season with a team i care about then a winning season with a bunch of guys i don't care about. aka i don't jump ship just because my players are having a rough season... for better or for worse, right? What is all this none sense about an upgraded goalie? do you have such a short term memory that you fail to see our over paid (cujo) and the best goalie in all of hockey (hasek) still produced the same amount of cups of as say the scum-bag Ozzie????????

see thats the problem.. he isn't even from the United States...Let alone Michigan or Detroit...so saying they win at home means nothing to him... which is a shame because i will take them winning every game i go to over a stanley cup any day... especially after i have seen 4 in my lifetime already with that said i just got tickets to thursdays game...so heres to a win

and there was key players injuried for the Islanders in Game 5 in Toronto that they could not bounce back from. Horrible game to be in attendance for but it was fun to be at the ACC for a playoff game.

hahaha you silly boy... you freak out when it doesn't even matter. stop you might not be alive long enough to watch the playoffs... your heart will fail if you keep worrying like this for a end of season game. And i am saying this a person who cares about you... we NEED you around for the playoffs for comic relief. Loosen up and only stress when it matters.

I am very confident in 1) osgood starting in the playoffs (maybe erroneously as all those Hasek supporters were last year...but that is yet to be determined without at least 2 Playoff games in the books this season) and 2) that if needed Conklin can come in and play awesome relief when needed. he has a 24-15 record... conklin has a 25-11 record... together the wings have a 49-27 record (howie had the other loss) I feel damn confident in a team that with only a few games has almost doubled their winning games over their losses
  18. Dont we have a pretty good road record or something? the presidents trophy would nully our away ice advantage for every round... no good

Yup thats about all we can do is just wait and see. Right now we are in the Detroits traditional coasting into the playoffs time of year (the time of year i stop watching hockey because the games are meaningless for us and it shows by the effort on the ice)... Back when i had season tickets i would make sure to unload all the end of march/beginning of april games for that same reasons. "if" we were in any crunch to get that almighty 8th and final seed then these games might mean something.... right now its basically if we come out without injuries... then we WIN the games. forget the scoreboard. ::EDIT:: I once again don't think that there is any way this teams loses 4 of 7 against the same team...

we've had reliable goalies in the past... remember back to cujo... posted a 1.00gaa in the Playoffs and we still managed to lose... and not only that the fans still to this day blame him and is 1.00gaa for the loss... so basically i just take that as the fans know s*** and just like to place blame on the one position that is most noticeable game in and game out. Doesn't matter what sport (well except bball as they don't really have a single position that stands out) but you got Baseball (pitcher), Football (Quarterback) and hockey (goalie) some is warranted but more often then not, the other players on the ice, grass, dirt are to blame just the same.

Sounds to me like that is more than one(1) word... no? career backup would infer that he never reached starter status and being that you must be new to the hockey world i can see that so... but he has handled the bulk load of the games before and might i remind you if it wasn't for him LAST YEAR we wouldn't have even turned around the first round and continued on to the cup... my 2 cents those two champs make me smile every day... i mean s*** i am not even an elite goalie and i have just as many cups as them!!!

    Detroit's Round 1 opponent tracker

that was last season.... and we lost games 1 and 2 before leaving all the rest behind and please god... NO NASHVILLE... they are the most boring team to watch in person. I can't stand a 7 game series against them!!! bring on the Blues, old time hockey playoff games
