very nicely pointed. Bettman claims this sheds a dark light on the sport of hockey if left untouched.... yet trashing the room on not just a national but international stage was pretty much left to ... whatev... they were pissed they lost.

Thats the whole thing... I have no problem with new rules being set by bettman in accordance to avery.. Like the no effing dancing rule (thats ******* hilarious in itself) But its the fact bettman chose THIS as the reason to suspend is what is so bad. I can see if he said, "yeah the nhl has a way of reusing the same *insert c word here* that i have been bangin'" then i can see for some repremanding... but "sloppy seconds" thats just laughable all around

wait you are confusing me also.. i thought the point was they werent suspended before ergo that was the rebuttal to people not standing up for avery now... The spoke out in the past and didn't get busted so they should be able to now. Right? I am jsut saying they aren't now becuase given what avery got suspended for THEY sure as hell should get suspended in today NHL... out of sight out of mind... you got that right baby!

Its called that was back in the day... now as said before this was the first time it has happened. You kinda gotta look at it like the Netting on the rinks. It took something to start that.. albeit i feel bad it took a death but same goes here. It took one suspension now and the bar has been set. Imagine some fan recording an incident off the rink where a player was caught saying something (GOD FORBID) worse than "sloppy seconds" If they don't suspend them for longer than 6-days it would be a mockery of the all ready messed up disiplinary part of the NHL. So in short, bettman has now set the bar. Hull, Roenick and Cheli would definitely be suspended for saying the s*** they have before in TODAYS NHL realm *if and only if* the NHL would hold all players to the same standards. Which i do understand that is 100% not the case.

thats the beauty of it... you are assuming the current play will be the play in April.. I am assuming the other way So i say wait until april and you will be surprised.. Usually a large group always say "ZOMFG we will be ousted in the first round" <-- see threads last season and more often then not that is not the case come actual playoff time. which could carry now a lot more weight than saying it now standing at 18-4-4... 4-18-4 or 4-4-18 might make the OMG we are doomed posts a little less (how do you say it in english?) dumb. They have been there done that with the championships... they are professionals with more success than many others in the sport. they know what it takes to win

Probably because they scared chicken s*** that if they speak out against this Bettman will get involved with murder for hire and make the "noise" disappear. Or at the very least suspend them too!

if we don't have the presidents trophy this season it will be much easier to swallow watching this bunch of 18-4-4 washed up no good scrubs getting booted in the first round 4-straight! as its been said as long as you have the highest seed in each round you have home ice... President trophy guarantees that, but it is not NEEDED either.
