    WTFCanucks?

After what Alex Burrows said about the Wings and the city of Detroit, I hope they don't win another game this playoff's. I would wish further harm to him personally, but that would be coming down to his classless level. Altough he IS such a globe trotting cosmopoltan figure (akkk...I mean Canadian farm boy). THIS IS ALL GOOD WITH ME!

    Good story about Brooks Laich

"and Mary Ann couldn't believe her eyes when out of the other car jumped Alex Ovechkin who told Mary Ann that he loved her more than Brooks, and if she would just wait a few minutes, he would rotate all of the tires on the car, and change the oil. As Ovechkin was rotating the the last tire, ANOTHER car pulled over to help. Out jumped Mike Green. Green asked Mary Ann for her hand in marriage, and if she had time, offered to give the car a new set of rims, tinted windows, hydrolic shocks, and a new sound system. As Green was finishing this and heading to the wedding at the church with Mary Ann, and ANOTHER car pulled up and"

    Bench Williams Thread // Merged

Did anyone notice when the tv cameera panned over the Wings bench in the 3rd...ALL of the Wings were (or at least appeared) to be engaged in the game, talking to teammates, leaning over the boards what looked like encouraging the guys on the ice...EXCEPT for Willy. He was just sitting there staring off into space...my wife (who isn't a huge follower of hockey) even commented that he looked emotionless and out of place. Sad to say this cause I really wanted Willy to work out coming back to us again, but he more and more reminds me of a young Robert Lang. Floating around looking for the one-timeer, no forecheck, no battling, shy's away from being physical....I mean come on!! BTW...where is his "deadly" shot (that's what Murph coined it at the beginning of the year).... when he does get a chance 2 out of 3 times he misses the net? I don't get it? Bring in the Alligator. One last note, can someone punch Shane Doan in the face just once. Bert? Franzy? I'm fully aware this is our style of play, and our passiveness usually becomes a huge advantage for us in drawing penalties and mounting frustration...but he was owning people last night. Jeez, at least Malts would give him a few face washes or stick to the face.

    Chicago gets Nashville

I'm going with Hawks in 6. Even further, I think at least two of these games will go into OT. All tough, grueling games. Hawks will come out of this series with at least one major additional injury (not hoping for injury, just my gut feel). No offense to Nashville, but the Hawks are too deep to succumb to a physical grind down team like they are. Nashville isn't going to make it easy by any stretch of the imagination, but in the end the Hawks have just too much over all. I mean come on... we've said this about Nashville for the last 4 out of 5 seasons and they've NEVER gotten past the first round and NEVER taken anyone to a game 7. Edit:spelling

    Did Crosby earn your respect?

No. Great player, great talent....I'll give him that for sure. So he's had my respect from day one. Just not the type of player (in regards to character) and person off the ice that I can really support and cheer for. Kind of a tool.

    Canada sets record

Congrats to both Canadian Hockey teams on gold. Great job, you deserved to win...no questions. On the gold medal count, good job as well. However, the theory above on losers really doesn't help the Canadian cause. If we are the 2nd and 3rd place biggest losers....doesn't that make your Canadian atheletes even bigger losers because they didn't even get on the podium? Those athelets weren't even close, not even in the discussion? I don't follow? However, quite honestly thought they fell way short as serving as the host nation for these games. As I've been talking to other people the since the games started many shared some of the same thoughts I did. Besides the debacle(s) in the opening ceremonies, the questions surrounding the luge course and the events of a man tragically losing his life (R.I.P.), the 21 year old Canadian drunken fight environment of the Olympic Village/Vancouver which more than a few of the international press deemed as "idiot village", and the sad fact many people came away from this Olympics with still little understanding of the history of Vancouver and Canada (okay, except for pounding down our throats five times a night that Alex P. Keaton, the guy from Will and Grace, and some actor that looks famous but don't know exactly who she is are from Canada and Canada offfers such activities such as snow skiing, standing in the forest, whales, and golf courses) .....it was pretty good. Good to have the NHL back though.

Why didn't Jiri Hudler make Czech's Olympic Team?

You'd think at the very least Sir Happiness would bless all those ladies in Vancouver with his presence. He'd be the only guy in town standing in the Olympic Village in the freezing cold with no jacket and shirt unbuttoned half way trying to pimp. Although in a big crowd, I doubt anyone would be able to see actually see him cause he's as tall as a fourth grader.

Wow...I thought me and my friends (all two of them) were the only ones to hang out together with our shirts off. As we all say, "Although it's cold out, and no one else has their shirts off, ....it's not a party until all of our shirts are off!!" Having beers and my friends nips wagging in my face all night....nothing better!!

    Osgood v Babcock round 2

Ozzie has to keep his focus on the big picture. Big picture meaning: Our future #1 goaltender is extremely hot right now. Coming off a start of this season where many questioned if he could even make it in the NHL. For the past work/resources/money that we've invested in Howie, getting him going in a major way is paramount. Ozzie has been around long enough to (hopefully) realize that he is not the future (2-4 years down the road) and he's much closer to the end of his career than to the beginning. This is a business....a lot of our future team/cap space/drafting depends on Howie being successful. This is a business first and foremost (not to me...but to Mr. Reality and Wings ownership/management). Point Two: Ozzie will NO DOUBT get his fair chance come last month and a half of the season, AND in the playoff's (knock on wood we make the playoffs). He needs to be focused and prepared for that time of the season when he will be looked to (as he was last year). He'd be foolish to think that the Kenny and Babs don't know who they have...I believe they fully know what Ozzie brings to the table in regards to experience, track record, playoff victories, Stanley Cups. Bottom line: He's needed, and will be looked to. Point Three-Many a team have rode a hot, unproven goaltender into the playoff's. Columbus last year is a good example (pretty much a fail after that point, but never-the-less they wouldn't have been anywhere close to a playoff spot without Mason). Giggy a while back. The list goes on. We are fighting desperately for a playoff spot, and need to ride the hot hand. Point Four-Let's face it, if come April we are still struggling for a playoff spot, Ozzie may see very little playing time this regular season. In this case, (unless Howie completley implodes), he'll get very few chances to get his game back in order. This is not a President's trophy team, and we don't have that luxury to stick a guy in there a bunch of times so he can "find" his game. Ozzie has the "gift of gab" with the media, and I think if he senses this is getting out of control he'll be the professional he always has been and tone it down. Go Ozzie!!

Anyone here ever see the Stanley Cup in person?

I was very fortunate and was able to drink out of the cup in 2008. I was down at Cheli's (not at the famous Wing party after the parade), but actually before the parade day. Cheli and Ozzie were gracious enough to allow me the honor to hang with them, hold the cup, and have a brewskie out of the cup. I had met them both before, but this was going above and beyond as I didn't ask them, they offered. Freakin awesome!!

Lebda: The "gift' that keeps on giving

Come on Already!!!!!!!!!!!! Lebda doesn't practice with the team does he?? What is Lebda doing shooting pucks in practice anyway??? Homer was most likely in front of the net...how did Ledba hit the net with his shot???...strange. Okay, after yesterday's incident with Lebda's shot breaking Homies foot...I have a theory on what is going on. (Plus, he was horrible last night...give away -after bad pass -after blown coverage). You heard it here first: The Red Wings organization has a Chicago Blackhawk sleeper cell amongst it's ranks. That's right: Chicago native Brett Lebda this off season signed a ultra secret agreement with former Wings brass Scotty Bowman to make every effort to destroy the Red Wings from within. Scotty promised Lebda that when the Wings made the inevitable decision to trade him and no one else signed him, Scotty would give him a job in the Hawks ticket office. That's right...sleeper cell. Double agent. Could he be tampering with equipement to cause injuries to our players as well?? Dulling skate blades when no one's looking?? Spiking Lila's water to cause headaches?? Feeding Ozzy with negative thoughts?? I'd watch him with a very close eye(s). Polygraph?? Chinese water tourture?? All of the above?? Is it possible in pro sports to have a player deemed as a negative asset. Meaning: his contribution has only the possibility of negative results. How else do you explain him?

    Let's Make a Deal...

ha ha ha...I want to party with you my man!!! Maybe I'm getting old, but even in my younger days when I was in my "prime"....10 shots per person + any amount of wine/champagne/beer/liquor is an awful lot of booze. 45 bottles of Vodka! Maybe a few gamers have 10 shots, but to have the whole party rocking that amount of booze is unlikely. My wife, even when she gets her drink-on...only has a few glasses of wine. Which means, regardless, some of these guys were partying down BIG TIME, and yes I can see how a bill can get out of control like this. Keep in mind as well, I've personally witnessed restaruant staff of going "rich" on bills of big parties with no point person managing the yeah's and nea's on what's being put on the bill. An especially in this case, when the party goers are famous (it is Canada) and loaded! Just keep that in mind. Anyhow ...They should have put the bill on the Underhills house tab (movie Fletch reference ).

    Leino Watch Thread!

Ville was not very good at all last night. I thought he played pretty well against PHO, but last night he was just bad. I hope he pulls out of this. Unfortunately for him, I believe his in Babcocks dog-house and patience wearing thin. When we start to get healthy, I'm not so sure that he may be scratched/traded (if possible). When he plays with confidence, he's got huge potential. Let's go Ville!

I saw and talked with he, Z, and E in Royal Oak two weeks ago. Dats seemed really happy and in great spirits that night. Although "you never know"-I'm not buying this.

Could Michigan Support Another NHL Team?

No. IMO...the notion of an NHL team in Traverse City or Marquette filling the stands is absurd. They may be able to fill it for 5 (Fri/Sat) weekend games a season..that's it.

franzen to miss playoffs? (if wings make it)

ehhhh....I agree with your first point, but saying that it effects his type of play MORE is a stretch. Balance is an all-body function (including equilibrioception). Strength maybe...but the continual movement/flexing of ACL is most predominant cause of re-aggravation of the ACL. But I agree, ACL is huge for any hockey player.
