Best places to watch the SCF in Vegas

We watched the last Anahiem game at the ESPN SportsZone bar. This is located in the New York - New York Casino. Great place to watch. Each booth and table has it's own table flat screen with volume and channel controls...as well as 4 hugh Hi-Def big screens for the entire place. We had to wait 10 minutes to get a table, but there were a bunch of Wings fans there and we ran the place and had a blast. Have fun..Go Wings!

    hockey central

Seriously man.....you don't know what you are talking about. I've lived in Pitt before. You guys only like your teams when they are winning. I've been to PNC park for a Friday night baseball game....a quarter full park. I've been to Pens games a few years ago when they were not as good....not even half full arena. Yeah, we don't have a superstar like Ovechkin....our superstars know how to play on both ends of the ice. BTW...the BlackHawks would smoke the Capitals....since you find this important in your reasoning...they have three elite players vs. the Caps one. How can the "Hockeytown thing" be overrated??? Explain this to me. I think your just a bit jealous.

    Quenville post game

Don't think so....not by the farthest stretch of the imagination. I think Quenville knows that at this point... unless he's up 3-1 series lead, and they have a four goal lead in game five...he doesn't have any uppper hand on anything. 1-1 series tied and Hawks have upper edge in series??? On the defending Stanley Cup champions...who HAVE HOME ICE ADVANTAGE????? I simply don't get your thinking one bit.

Round 1: (2) Red Wings vs. (7) Blue Jackets

When looking at last year...one of my personal "keys" to games in which we won....was a big hit early in the game by Kronner. Don't know who it will be yet for them this year. I'm hoping is Dats or Cleary Wings in 6.

A travesty on hockey's good name

ok....one question...where is the ball? You may confuse spectators thinking that a ball game is going on somewhere else in the stadium/field and they are missing something. It's like chanting "Hey, batter-batter Hey, batter-batter" at a basketball game. I makes not an ounce of sense.

    Bring up some Griffins?

If you hit as often as Kronwall and skate as fast as Draper has this season, we may immediately trade you..no offense.

Now we need grinders, character guys

My two cents: I know Aaron Downey personally (please don't take this as me bragging or being a "name dropper" at all), and I will say this; he loves playing for the Wings (most importantly, loves the guys on the team and management), loves playing in Detroit (hockey crazy city with knowledgable/very respectful fans), and loves the small community that he lived in-Troy) and WANTS to stay with the Wings. I'll say this though, after playing so many years in the NHL, it would be hard for him to be sent down Grand Rapids when he could potentially be playing with another team and have a permenant roster spot. Trust me on this with Aaron....it's not about the money.

    Franzen Out For The Season

Ok...so this is the first time I've ever posted in the rumor mill, but had an interesting conversation last night while out eating dinner...so I thought I'd throw this on here. I was eating at an upscale restaurant in Birmingham last night, and while waiting for our table, got talking to this gentleman. This guy was a very nicely dressed older man (I'd guess around age 60) who was there with his wife. He is a doctor at Beaumont Hospital. He told me that he personally knows the team doctor for the Wings, and that Franzen has blood on his brain, and is NO Question...out for the season. Take it with a "grain of salt", but just what I heard. Not sure what I think

Getting a little nervous, Detroit fans?

Since people in the Burgh really have only one team to follow annually (The Stillers), I can see how your disposable household income may be much easier to come by and therefore more people having the ability to spend on going to a game. It's funny, but from when I was working in the Burgh, and still have close contact with people from the Burgh, they tell me that "if our hockey team would have been selling out like it has since they've recently started be a good team, NONE of this Bull Sh&^ would have ever happened with almost loosing our team." When the Pens weren't good, what we're you all spending your money on? WOW--

    Franzen Out For The Season

I started this thread in the rumor mill. I have come to officially declare that I had been mislead by this gentleman and my rumor was flat out incorrect, and obviously Franzy is back (Yeahh!!!!!). Apologies on this being incorrect, but as I stated, I posted this in the Rumor Mill for a reason, and I myself wasnt' sure if it was BS.

    Franzen Out For The Season

Trust me, I don't know if I believe him either. But I will say this....I did not make this up have better things to do than 'make up" rumors. I want Franzy back playing as much as anyone. It's funny you come on the rumor board with such a statement (I really doesn't make sense). Go Wings and I hope Franzy gets back playing in game 1.

    4th Line Monster

Why...Cause they are the fourth line... and you want your better players/lines on the ice longer. Having a fourth line to roll gives a team a few advantages: -Creating extra time for your top lines to get there wind and get fresh (although it may be only 20+ seconds...that's a huge advantage..especially toward the 3rd period). -Creates major match up/line change problems for the opposing team. -If fourth line is physical, defensively responsible, and has any inckling of offensive potential, can create a damaging force against the other teams lines, which most likely would be players from the opposing team which are equally responsible...(which most teams in the NHL are not that deep that they can match a group/line of responsible players to hold the fourth line in check). Therefore, they are shifting second/third liners out on the ice to neutralize the threat. Forcing opposing teams to double-shift/short shift is extremely effiective. -Can create a tempo changes that are often needed (fighting, hitting, forechecking, clogging up the nuetral zone, etc...). Fourth line should be used primarily as a device to enhance your first three lines, not to have a fourth scoring weapon. If it happens....fantastic..if not, they'll pay divends in other ways. Go Wings-

WCF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

I am waiting patiently for Clears to come on...I just feel him on the edge of breaking out. Good win tonight....lets keep our focus.
  18. Try listening to broadcasters when the talk about the Patroits and Tom Brady.... they aren't the underdog. Can you love on a team and person more than that (ok...ok...besides the ultimate man love subject...Brett Favre).

    Time for a new captain?

That would be neat-o ....let's do that. Anyway, can I trade Luke Skywalker for your Chubaka. By the way, my mom said she'd take us to the train store tomorrow...only if your mom can pick us up. Do you think she would stop by the store so we can buy a slurpee and candy like she did last time. That would be really neat-o. Let's grow up and keep things in perspective...Lids is a fine captain and this question really should only be broached in August (if at all with Lids)...not knee-jerk reaction to a playoff lose. I believe we are the best team in the league. I'll take a best out of three-game scenario any day of the week with any team in the leauge...I'd even give up home ice advantage....that's how much I believe in the Wings. I'm not worried one bit...Nashville is a really good team that has played us tight all year, we should expect these types of series. But there is no denying that we will prevail.+

    JLA Fans Are Pathetic

Experience I've been to playoff games in both Det and Nash...and I would say that although the Joe is loud, it's not as loud as Nashville. I think SOME of our fans take the Wings for granted, especially with our consistent stellar play the last few years during the regular season. So, they go down to the Joe and expect to cheer for the Wings domination of other teams and are prepared to stand up a couple times during the game to high-five after the Wings score. Why do we cheer? We cheer to motivate and show support of our team. Do we need to cheer and be loud if the Wings are winning the game? We should, but I don't see if very much at the Joe. I've been to Friday night games when the Wings are up by two goals, and the crowd is excited and happy the Wings are winning, ...but in certain cases, it's almost expected so the crowd is just sitting quietly watching the Wings dismantle the other team. Which to SOME poeple may equate to...."why should we cheer for our team...we are winning and dominating the game...is there something else we are trying to motivate our team to do?" So, I truely believe that SOME of our fan base, doesn't have a lot of experience in cheering (except for after goals or major "key play"). For all of us who DO go down to the Joe or any arena around the country to support the Wings and scream, clap, chant, sing, laugh, cry, swear, berade opposing team, harass opposing team's fans (in a respectful way), start the "wave", start the "Let's Go Red Wings" chant, almost pee yourself cause you can't stand to go to the bathroom during play, bring a Sharpie in case of autograph opportunity, wear your Wings jersey, think pretty much any girl cheering for the Wings at a game is HOT, etc..... For all of us/you, "I'll be your Wing man any day." (Top Gun reference...I apologize in advance). Go Wings and lets start matching our teams talent with our "fan talent!"

    Why Habs?

Ok...so Habs stand for "les habitants"-which was a slang name given to the residents of New France back in the 16 or 17th century (can't remember...dammit brain!). BTW...at a point in history, Habitant was a very derogitory word that implied that these settlers were inferior. So, Back in the early 20's, the owner of Madison Square Garden (Tex ?--rich guy who was originally from Texas and owned MSG) mistakenly told a NYTimes reporter that the H on ther jersey stood for Habitants....which...is not true. The reasoning for the H on the jersey is for "Club de Hockey Canadien".

    Sammy Says He's Ready

Sammy Says He's Ready? Ready for what??....Ready to start shooting 50 foot wrist shots that miss the net?? All kidding aside, these playoffs are a HUGE opportunity for him (ha ha...I sound like Babs) and hope he takes advantage of it. Sammy start proving people (me kind of included) wrong.
