funny you should ask, where there's smoke there is fire... Bob McKenzie reports the Philadelphia Flyers are trying to land Jay Bouwmeester but cap constraints are making that difficult. McKenzie cites sources saying the Flyers would like to move Martin Biron and turn the starting goalie reins over to Antero Niittymaki. One scenario has the Flyers shipping Biron to the Phoenix Coyotes who would then flip him elsewhere but the Coyotes won’t make deal for Biron unless they can get the other deal in place.

Eklund is siting TWO separate sources about a three team deal bewteen Detroit, Pheonix, and Philly that would land us Martin Biron. apparently this hinges on Philly getting the Bulin Wall from the Hawks first.

LA 6 DET 4. Osgood poops the bed again. Blows 4-2 lead in the 3rd. 6th LA goal is into an empty net. Wings scorers: Dats, Leino, Cleary, Rafalski
-
he and lebda will split time in and out.
-
you could swap cleary and leino but i thought they might try to keep the two Fins together. maybe not, though.

i don't see Samuelsson, Hudler, Chelios, Meech, Kopecky, Conklin and perhaps Draper on this team next year. i really feel that if draper has a terrible playoffs that he may retire (take a job in the wings organization), cheli and mccarty will retire, meech will be moved, conklin, kopecky will move on, hudler will sign elsewhere and get us picks Holmstrom-Datsyuk-Franzen Hossa-Zetterberg-Cleary Helm-Fippula-Leino Maltby-Abdelkader-Downey Lidstrom-Kronwall Rafalski-Ericcson Staurt-Lebda Osgood Larsson/Howard

plus one thing the wings need, it is english speaking stars. we lost yzerman, shanny, lapointe, and the grind line days are long gone. i think just from a fan interest point, as sorry as it is to say, holland must start thinking of infusing some n.american talent for the fans to identify with. we have helm and abdelkader up and coming, and soon we'l have horton and bouwmeester.
-
you got it. there may be some draft picks involved in this mix, but it's going to happen.
-
you heard it here first: filpulla, kronwall for boumeester, horton

wasn't Green taken with the Red Wings pick that was sent with Fleischmann for Robert Lang?
-
where does it say hossa is close to signing? it's just speculation. we already knew holland met with their agents.

Red Wings send Abdelkader back to Griffins, call up Darren Helm

i can't recall why Helm played with the Wings through the playoffs last year? who was injured? -
I like the idea of incorporating the NHL awards into the all-star weekend. I propose the all-star weekend happens mid-August, when people are missing hockey the most. if not east vs. west, then have the stanley cup champs take on the best of the rest. fans get no vote. players are voted in by the NHLPA. call the weekend "The NHL All-Star Summer Classic" -fan access meet and greet friday afternoon -skills comp friday evening -all-star game saturday evening -awards ceremony and after party celebration sunday evening.

You know Pronger will be an UFA when Lidstrom's contact is up...

hmm, i wonder how open the rules are to exploiting the cap hit avg. i mean, let's say hossa wants to play for 6 more years then go back to europe, what is to stop holland from signing hossa for 7.5 million for 6 years and then for 1 million for another 6 years. that's a cap hit of only 4.25 million. hossa could then just retire after the six years and that's that.
-
just checking out the top contracts and their cap# it really shows what a great deal this is for the Wings. http://www.nhlnumbers.com/sort.php

so how did this little man get his job? what were his credentials? who interviewed him? who hired him? and can he be fired? if so, why hasn't he been? I can't think of anyone that thinks he has done anything but a terrible job. he seems to answer to no one, but surely he must not have Godlike job security.

stream don't work for me either. i wanna blame bettman. can I?

97.1 The Ticket will probably be too busy talking about the potential Lion logo change to waste time on a measly Wings presser. although it is at 2pm - Valenti and Foster are the only thing worth a damn on that station. Well, Pat Caputo is enjoyable too, but more for Tiger talk.
-
If the NHL wants to increase scoring they should consider putting a target of Bettman's face in the back of the net. Seriously, this moron with his midget complex feels he needs to publicly disrespect someone of Lidstrom's stature? I guarantee the only reason this came to a head is because the NHL's golden boy Crosby decided to skip it. If the all-star game wasn't such a joke, players wouldn't be skipping it. Babcock should stay home now, just as a show of respect for Lids and Dats and to show what he thinks of Little Hitler.

God, the DEAD WEIGHT on this team is going to bite them on the ass if it ruins the devlopment of their youth. Helm, Lieno, Erricson, should all be given a NHL shot right now. loyalty is all well and good - but it was not very foreward thinking to give maltby and draper such long contracts. i recall draper signed his after his magical one season scoring spree, but maltby was resigning atthe tie was a total shock to me, and multi-year to boot. draper i can see keeping maybe one more season for character, leadership, and faceoffs, but maltby, kopecky, mccarty, chelios, and meech can take a walk. i don't think the wings will be able to deal flip for anything decent with his oversized contract.
-
the "all-star game" should be shifted to after the season, say late-August. call it the NHL Summer Classic, and have it be the Stanley Cup Champs vs. NHL Stars or Stanley Cup Champs vs. the best European team or all-stars. i know i'm usually hockey starved by the end of august. and i'd still say the NHL should take a 5 day break at mid-season, just to let bodies recover.

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.
alienanxiety replied to rage's topic in General
notice how he said. "it's not true. i did not turn down an offer of $75million." then he probably finished the sentence in his head. "...it was $74.5 million." -
i think Mickey said, "Mike Babcock told me before the game that Mr. Ilitch has resecured those incriminating photos from Samuelsson's locker and that he will be traded by morning." lol, for real though, you can hear the telecasts director's prompting them what to talk about ... "talk about meech now!"

No, we went to that same basement last year with D-Mac, so hopefully our two basement boys can meet up in the playoffs.
