NOTE: Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source in most cases, unless the statement in question is sourced one way or another. As for the LaRose "signing", a quick search on Google revealed no sources stating that LaRose has been signed by Detroit. The Hockey News Transactions have not listed him either (yet?). As those are usually very reliable regarding any transactions, we can officially dismiss this as a rumor/hoax.

Player chooses Girlfriend over drug test; Suspended
German Red Wing replied to RedFX's topic in General
Yup, he does. Take a guess why we would have been relegated from the A Group this year if we wouldn't host the 2010 championships. One hint - losses against hockey power houses like France or Denmark do not exactly help... As for the whole Busch story, it caused quite a lot of media hype over here when it came up back in 2008. Meanwhile, everybody is like "Who f***ing cares anyway". -
Zidlicky to Rangers? (e2) According to my sources within the Minnesota Wild organization, the New York Rangers are willing to part with D Wade Redden, RW Nikolai Zherdev, a 1st round pick and a rusty zamboni to obtain the services of D Marek Zidlicky. Remember, you heard it here first! But how about this one: Zetterberg to Penguins? (e3) According to my sources within the Detroit Red Wings organization, the Pittsburgh Penguins are willing to part with C Sidney Crosby, G Marc-Andre Fleury and C Evgeni Malkin to obtain the services of C Henrik Zetterberg. Remember, you heard it here first!

This is not quite correct. Our 4th round pick this year has gone to Los Angeles as part of the Stuart trade in 2008. See also Wikipedia. THE NHL website also used to have an overview of every team's draft picks, but the link has vanished into nirvana somehow. Nevertheless, I'm surprised that we have draft picks in every of the first three rounds this year.

Easton locations Oh my, the British League... What does Easton have that Detroit has not?

Official gospel from the Red Wings official page: http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=368800 Both have signed three-year extensions.

Here is the "official" link from nhl.com: http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=367813 I'd like to point out two aspects: a) Jagr would have continued to play in the NHL if a team had given him a three-year deal in order to "bridge" the time until his final season in his native Kladno, CZE. b) His future salary is estimated to be 7 million a year without taxes, which would be equivalent to 11 million with taxes. The contract length is, as stated before, two years with the option for a third year.

Additional to that trade, the Lightning are obviously close to locking Vincent Lecavalier up for 9 years: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=3460314

Do we currently have an ECHL affiliate, by the way? Toledo is not an option since the Storm franchise went dormant because of arena issues a few years ago. The team will return as the Walleye, but not before 2009-10... As for Kolasau, he wouldn't have been signed for an entry level contract if he will not see time in GR sooner or later.

Now that link clarifys a lot... The Belarusian transcription from the Kyrillic alphabet can be really ugly sometimes. My first thought was "What, we signed a guy from Polynesia? Do they even have ice sheets down there?"

While reading ESPN's transaction overview for today, I stumbled over the following line: Who the *bleep* is this guy? If I would judge him just by his name, he is Grand Rapids-bound, for sure...
-
I'll second that. Additionally, if I remember correctly, Stuart's wife has given birth sometime around the start of the playoffs. Besides, the whole Stuart discussion reminds me of exact the same time of the year 12 months ago where similar discussions came up...

Philly trade negotiation rights to Propsal back to Tampa
German Red Wing replied to a topic in General
Additional info: According to Tampa's official site, the conditional pick in 2009 would be a 4th rounder if Prospal is signed by Tampa Bay this summer. -
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&a...rticleid=365692 Detroit Red Wings pick summary: Detroit has one pick in every round except the second round, picking 30th, 91th, 121th, 151th, 181th and 211th. As usual - if a similar thread is already in place, delete this one

66? And we are (still) playing the Pens? This actually can't be coincidental...

I assume you mean 2009, since there already two series (NYR vs TB @ Prague and PIT vs OTT @ Stockholm) scheduled for 2008. Sweden (or perhaps Finland) would be the only logical location to put those games. The opponent has to come out of the West for some reason, because they are not going overseas for just one game. I would like to see the Avalanche or the Blackhawks. But I will take any team as an opponent as long Detroit is participating and definitely try to make the trip (even if the league decides the games to go ahead in dead-expensive London)...

Yup, Draper's birthday is on Saturday. As for the shaving cream, an assault by all his victims AFTER a successful Game 1 at center ice would be fine...

PS 2008 Stanley Cup Final Photoshop War: Pittsburgh Penguins
German Red Wing replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
My PS skills are non-existent, but nevertheless I might have an idea to probably build upon: Construct a Penguin trap out of the following - some Predator meat, properly cooled by Avalanche snow, in a Star-shaped area. Add a hiding octopus to the scene, trying to whack a nearing Penguin with something. Feel free to pick this one up any way you like...- 561 replies

Germany's about to get a bashing tonight, being down 3-0 against the US just 3 minutes into the game...

According to Japers' Rink (I googled that page, to be honest), Fedorov wore that number at his last World Championships back in 1990. So I think he just wanted to keep "his" old number. By the way, notice the name of the Italian goalkeeper mentioned in that article...

Germany took the expected loss against Finland (5-1), but played good hockey over the first two periods. But nevertheless I'd like Dallas to take out San Jose as early as possible so that Ehrhoff, Goc and Preiss can join the squad...

Exactly. Too many people in here are getting way too ahead of themselves and counting their chickens before they hatch. The Wings have had more than 1 instance of (1) blowing 2-0 leads to lose a series in 6 games (Colorado, LA 2001), (2) doing the exact opposite (Vancouver 2002), and (3) blowing 2-0 leads to make the series tied after 4 games (Nashville 2004 and 2008, Calgary 2007) to where people thought the series was over, wanted a new captain, wanted to trade away half our team, and plenty of other overreactions. While both the Wings and the Stars are on good ground right now, a series doesn't end until a team wins 4 games. Neither series is remotely close to being done with yet, I don't care that the Stars are playing their next 2 games at home or that the Wings chased Theodore or the Avs have some injuries. Anything can happen. And if you beat the Stanley Cup champs and the 2nd best team in the conference (potentially) en route to the conference finals, I think that easily qualifies as a dangerous team. I fully second that. Let's take everything on a step-by-step basis. Win two more games against Colorado. Then, start thinking about the WCF.
