That's not the point. Hossa was huge in the series clinching win in terms of goal scoring. He has also been a force defensively and in the all around game. Yes, I would like to see him contributing more but he has not been invisible or playing terribly. He is working his ass off all over the ice and eventually the goals will come.

Sorry, I was distracted by another article on that site. So many things wrong with this. Exotic dancer, 52, attacked by rival with stiletto heel

PS 2009 Round 1 Photoshop War: Columbus Blue Jackets
WhiteCloud replied to Matt's topic in Hall of Fame
Who's kidding who, it could easily be describing Columbus as well. I have spent plenty of time there and it is not exactly a posh metropolis.- 687 replies

They love him out here. A couple of my co-workers are huge Ranger fans and they are all for it.

The Center Ice feed truly sucks tonight. Anyone else having the same problem? It keeps freezing and cutting up for me.

It's all about who takes the time to write workable scripts. Or those who take the time to vote over and over again. Not sure which is even more sad. It is meaningless either way

I was a huge fan of the Knitting Lady. We were at the game the day before Christmas Eve and I asked my mom about her. Sad news but at least she seemed to do what she loved and had freaking great seats taboot.

Why should Detroit players fight in this situation? They are winning the game. Unless they are defending themselves or exacting revenge on a team mate fighting plays into the hands of the Hawks. I am all for fights but there was no reason for any Wings to engage in this game and if anything a scuffle could have shifted momentum to Chicago

Write a script to mass vote for Red Wings players. That's why all the Ducks and let's face it the Hawks are leading in votes. If it is not a result of a script then I actually feel sorry for the people who are spending that much time repeatedly voting for their players over and over again. Either way I would rather that the Wings stayed home and rested while the less deserving players dealt with the All Star game bulls***.

http://is.gd/9Lfj - Hockey Twitterers... there are several RedWings people. Also not on that list Wayne Gretzky is now on Twitter and you can find him here @Wayne_Gretzky. If you are on Twitter you should check them out. Good stuff.

I hate Pronger with a passion but I would love to see him with the Wings. He is a fantastic player and has an element the Wings are missing right now. He is not a one dimensional enforcer but he can and does throw his weight around. Yeah, he is dirty but like everyone mentioned so was Chelios. I would say that Chelios was even dirtier than Pronger in his prime. So if the Wings signed Pronger I would be ecstatic. For one the Wings would not have to face him anymore and more importantly they would have another top 5 defenesman who also happens to be a physical presence.

You are probably right but if it makes Hossa feel like it gives him an advantage it probably does. Just in terms of confidence.

When will professional atheletes begin to feel the economic pinch....
WhiteCloud replied to NC WINGS FAN's topic in General
Yeah, I could see the salary cap going down or at least not going up as much next year. The players, at least those at the top, will still get their money. I for one do not have a problem with it either. I know I will never make as much as the top pro hockey players but I don't begrudge them at all. They have a relatively short time frame in which to make money. And it is a damn hard job too. Sure, they are playing a game but they work their asses off, play through injuries, are away from their families for long stretches, they could be traded and forced to move at any time, and they could face a career ending injury on the next shift. They need to get as much as the can while they have the chance. In my career I am trying to get paid as much as I feel I am worth. As long as someone is willing to pay me my desired salary I am going to take it. And then I am going to work my ass off to try and earn more money. There is no reason a pro hockey player should be any different. -
Let's keep track: How many games the refs call late penalties
WhiteCloud replied to stormboy's topic in General
It is automatic but IMO it should not be. When I played hockey our coaches would go off if we got our sticks knocked out of our hands even with a solid slash. Now in the NHL it seems like you are better off letting go even with a slight poke check because it will result in a penalty. If the slash is hard and legitimately knocks the stick out of a players hands by all means it should be called but if someone taps a stick and it goes flying across the ice it should be ignored. -
Wishlist for a Hockey Related Social Media site?
WhiteCloud replied to WhiteCloud's topic in General
Very similar to that, yes. What we would like to do is expand on that idea by not only allowing members to submit stories and write their own blogs but also utilize our own bloggers to write stories and begin discussions. -
We are tossing around ideas for a hockey related social media site/blogging platform and would love to get some feedback from my fellow Red Wings fans. This is just at the brainstorming phase but if you have any thoughts or opinions please feel free to share them. If we do this we want to develop a site that appeals to not only NHL fans but fans and players of all levels of hockey.

Wishlist for a Hockey Related Social Media site?
WhiteCloud replied to WhiteCloud's topic in General
By social media site I mean a place for users to discuss and share hockey related content, vote for their favorite stories, maybe have their own blog, etc. In general a place for hockey players and fans to hang out and discuss hockey at all levels. It would probably not be a forum site like this and HF boards but more of a Digg type platform with more robust discussion options so users can do more than just vote and comment on stories but also create their own discussions and write their own blogs, add videos, pictures, and other multimedia. I like the idea of a future watch section. I think that is a great idea. Those are the types of things we are trying to incorporate into the site. -
Hmmm, I actually like Doc Emrick. The other guys not so much but I enjoy listening to Emrick call games.
-
I am a big fan of Emrick myself. I like his enthusiasm and his style. His voice takes some getting used to but he does a ton of NJ & NY games so I have watched a bunch of games he has done. Others I really enjoy are Dave Strader & Chris Cuthbert.

Yeah, Cherry is not a fan of the traditional European game but I don't think he hates European players. It's his schtick though and he is going to run with it. The fact is the Wings are less physical because of their style of play. When you play a puck control type of game there is going to be fewer opportunities to play the body. That does not mean the Wings are soft. When the opportunity presents itself they take the body and most of the time they match their opponents physicality. Cherry prefers dump and chase grind it out hockey and the Wings are only going to play that style when the situation dictates that it is necessary. They can do it but they are better off keeping control of the puck and playing puck control. So Cherry is naturally not going to get as excited about that. He did not call them soft but he was pretty much spot on with his assessment. I don't take his opinions too seriously but I still enjoy the entertainment value.

These GD threads crack me up. Yup, the Wings blew in the first but they played much better in the second. I don't know why anyone expected Detroit to dominate the Pred in the playoffs since every game for the past couple of years have been close and hard fought. The 8th place team in the West is light years better than the 8th place team in the East so let's drop those comparisons. I knew this was going to be a tough series and the Wings need to play better. It is a team effort and I won't put all of the blame on Hasek but IMO he has played average at BEST. He made some big saves but he has also let in some really crappy goals. Plenty of other players have made some seriously glaring mistakes but this is the playoffs and you expect your goalie to bail you out a few times. That has not really happened or if it has he has turned around and let in a garbage goal right away. That being said, the Wings can win this game and the series they just need to step up and continue the effort that started in the second period.

Should Downey Play in the first game
WhiteCloud replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
Seriously, I think my head is going to explode with the inane circular logic expressed by the OP. There is no basis on logic or reality in any of his posts. Downey has done nothing this season that indicates he will be a playoff liability. In fact he has done the exact opposite. Sometimes I wish he was a bit more aggressive but I suppose he is restraining himself at the behest of Babcock. I for one am happy that the Wings actually have someone that has the ability to make opponents accountable if they decide to run at the Wings star players. It is something they have been missing for far too long. The OP just needs to give it up because he makes no sense and his arguments lack proof or any basis in reality. Oh, and as far as the Wings getting hosed by the refs...take the homer glasses off. While I do get pissed at bad calls EVERY team in the league faces bad calls and the Wings are not singled out more than any other team. I watch a ton of hockey and every team faces the same calls. Nobody is out for the Wings and generally the calls end up evening out. Stating that the Wings get hosed more than anyone else is ridiculous and makes your argument even more nonsensical, if that is possible. -
I'll jump in. Repping from Nutley, NJ (Home of Martha Stewart ) Go Wings!!!!
-
I would rather see Nashville simply because of the travel factor. The less travel (and late night games) the better for the Wings as well as my productivity and sanity.
