Look at Legace's stats that year...pretty stellar. He ended up playing the most out of the three that year. Pretty sure he was given a nod in the playoffs over Cujo if I am not mistaken.

Please do remember the context of this username before all the flaming. In 2005 there was a great goalie war here related to Osgood vs Legace. During that season, Manny was in fact greater than Osgood. There was a camp that wanted Osgood to play the majority of the games but he played poorly in many of his starts and Manny coming in as relief played lights out the entire season. Overall career vs. Career, of course Osgood had a better one. I'm not debating that.

We peppered Roloson with tons of weak, wide angle shots. He really did not have to do too much. We didn't win that series because we couldn't score. 2.8 goals/game usually will not fare well for you no matter what. We had no problem in the regular season that year scoring 3.7 goals/ game. If we score on average one more goal each game suddenly two of those losses turn into possible victories. The team in 2008 also scored 3.3 goals per game in the playoffs, much better than 2.8. I suppose you want to blame Cujo for 2004 as well? Almost the same situation. Wings can't score against trap team and goalie gets crucified. Not sure how we got to this point in this thread, but we can all agree Osgood was exceptional in 2008/2009 and he deserves credit for that. 2006 was a blunder directly pointed towards Mike Babcock.

It seems like you are not remembering that series very well. The 8th seeded Oilers who were known as a run and gun, speedy team at the time literally overnight converted to a 1-2-2 (aka the trap) and blindsided the red wings and Mike Babcock. If you want to blame anyone for that series loss, blame Babcock for failing to help his team adjust. I remember this place blowing up during that series because the games were so frustrating to watch. The wings were kept to the perimeter for the entire series.

When you've been a member of this site for almost 10 years, you can just sniff this stuff out. Plus LGW is just part of my daily routine. I just don't feel compelled to post very often.

Yet again I get to rub a thread or string of posts in Harold's face.(He once told me in a PM that Osgood never comes up on LGW until I come along). However even though I have a long and well documented history of hating on Osgood, I can even conceed that he played out of his mind in those two playoffs. The team never had to win in spite of his blunders. He was pretty lights out. Any other year (including 1998) the team had to win in spite of him. He was rarely the best goalie on his team let alone the league on this other years. Look it up if you don't believe me. I will leave my contribution to this thread at that.
