Why am I hearing that we need to buy out Cola? What has he done to deserve such hate? He would be an outstanding 5-6 defenseman next year.

I see this year similar to 2007. Stevey Y just retired. Pav and Hank were taking the torch. Up until that year, no one thought Pav could handle the playoffs. That post Stevie team proved to everyone they were legit, and the kids were taking over. The following year we were treated to the best played hockey I've seen the red wings play. #1 in virtually every category and they worked their asses off in the process. Our now core was just beginning to really blossom. Now we have the likes of Nyquist and Tatar and DD and Andersson. I think they are our future core, and I am very hopeful for the future.

97.1 is pure garbage when it comes to hockey talk. I quit calling in and listening daily because they blatantly would rather talk about anything else than the red wings. They legitimize this by doing the dial tone thing, but they create almost a hostile environment for any real knowledgeable fan. Why would I want to talk to some trolls that don't even know or like hockey to begin with? The only good talk there is immediately after a big win, that's it.

Seemed appropriate to bump this. I'll say this, I cannot remember the last time a Detroit goalie faced 39 shots in regulation in the playoffs and only allowed one goal. If Howard is average, every wings goalie in recent memory is just terrible.

Most of those points were piled up years ago. What have you done for me lately? Hossa plays a good defensive game in the playoffs I guess, but he has been a bust for the most part in the playoffs.

Hossa has been a perennial under achiever in the playoffs. Mule always brings it in big games. Hossa may be the sexier name, but that's it.
