Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
Red Kingdom replied to gcom007's topic in General
Bob McKenzie on TSN saying that reports are Jarnkrok is supposed to be going back to Sweden with a deal to play there next season. If that's true, that's why he was included in the deal. So much whining and crying for a player that may not have seen the light of day in Detroit. Get over it, kids, prospects come and go. Some succeed, some don't. And the Wing have had plenty over the years that were rated high and when they played in the NHL were duds. It happens. -

Everybody putting too much into losing Jarnkrok. Sure, he's supposed to be good, but the key word is "supposed". There's no guarantee that he will succeed in the NHL. Might be a career minor leaguer. Be different if he was up with the Wings and sitting on 15-20 goals. But he's a prospect, not a bona fide NHL'er. -

I've looked on a few sites and there's no mention, yet, on who the prospect is. So, let's not get our panties in a bunch until is 100%. -
Dabura, if you don't mind, what type of heart condition was it? I ask because about 13 yrs ago, I was diagnosed with a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyapathy. I had an enlarged muslce in the heart that affected the flow of blood out of the heart. A lot of much younger athletes have this and sometimes, they can go into sudden cardiac arrest and die. That's why there's a push on right now in the metro Detroit area every summer for high school athletes to have tests done to see how their hearts are. I was in my mid-50's when I was diagnosed. I had open heart surgery in 07 at 59 to correct it and so far, seven yrs later I have had no problems, though I was told that eventually I could go into congestive heart failure. So, I was just wondering if yours might be similar to mine. I know there are several forms of Cardiomyapathy, besides the one I had. And to this day, I think it was the same thing Jiri Fisher had when he nearly died during the game several yrs back.

Darren Dreger just spoke about this on NHL Network a few minutes ago. Dreger said Letang suffered a few of those symptoms you mentioned in your post. Dizzieness, double or blurry vision, trouble with his balance.

GDT Alumni Game Lineup / Leafs @ Wings Alumni NBCS and CBC 1pm
Red Kingdom replied to BottleOfSmoke's topic in General
Games are also on Fox Sports Detroit. And it's 3-2 Wings after one. Some guys playing I didn't know were coming like Verbeek, Lapointe, Schneider. Garry Unger looks older, of course, but still the same. That second game looks like the Wings are going for the Cup again with that roster. Fox Sports Detroit will re-run them tonight at 8. -
Here's why I think the Wings have a great chance to win the Cup and it has nothing to do with matchups. Doesn't matter who you play, you have to beat them regardless. I think the Wings can win because it's time. If not this year, then next year for sure. After they won the Cup in 98, the next three seasons, they were bounced in either the first or second rds. Then, they won it in 02. Another flurry of early exits in 03, 04, and 06. In 07, they get to the WCF's before losing to the Quacks. In 08, five seasons after the last Cup, they win it again. Lost the Cup in 09, then two years of early exits. Now, it's four years after the last one, so they're due. I'm getting the idea that the Wings organization knows it's much to difficult to win it every year. So, they spend a few years recharging the team, staying competitive, figuring that if they advance to the next rounds, fine, but if not, no worry we'll get there. The Wings have been known to be very patient both on the ice and off. They don't panic. And I've noticed this year as opposed to the last two, they're playing with much more purpose and energy. They are hungry again and they want one more Cup for Nick before he goes. Sure, they're having some PP problems and "injury" problems, but don't be surprised to see them healthy and ready to go in April.

Hockey parent uses laser pointer to "blind" opposing goalie
Red Kingdom replied to Gizmo's topic in General
That game should've been forfeited immediately by the school athletic association, without even a second thought. Sounds like they like the way the game turned out. AS for that dad, his punishment should be to play goal with no pads and let the other girls team take shots at him. -
I noticed last Saturday that NHL Net did not have the early HNIC game on. But the last couple of years, I would watch the early game on NHL Net and in full HD, too.

About a month ago, Detroit played Chicago in a preseason game in Chicago. The game was carried by Versus which means it was a nationally televised game, therefore, it was exclusive to Versus. However, everybody in the country got to see the game except fans in Detroit. For some reason it was blacked out here. In Chicago, it was carried on Comcast Sports Net and that's how they got to see it. It should not have been blacked out here, because FSN Detroit had no coverage of it. But it was. The OP should not have been blacked out for the Det-Minn game whether the Avs were playing or not. I to have Center Ice and when the Wings play, I don't get all the other games on CI blacked out. I think some of the providers have some real nincompoops working for them that don't know just how the blackout rules work.

Watching NHL Network right now and they said the tomas Vokoun signed the Islanders. Does that mean that they could be in the market to deal Nabakov? Wings are looking for a good backup goalie.

Same old crap regarding the Wings. Homer gets nailed for it every time but, everybody else in the league can do it on the Wings. Just like when Lidstrom gets constantly highsticked and no call is amde but, they certainly call it on him when it's warranted. I wish they still had someone like Probert around. After the Leafs getting two freebies like that tonight, Probert would destroyed Reimer before the night was out.

I remember when Kromm was brought in. I think Larry Wilson, father of Ron Wilson, was coach at the time and it was thought that he would return as coach. But, Ted Lindsay, who was the GM said, he would not because they already had a new coach coming in, signed, sealed and, delivered. It was Bobby Kromm, fresh from the WHA and considered a really good coach, and, he was. Kromm got the Wings into the playoffs for the first time since 1970 and everybody thought this would be the beginning of the Wings turnaround. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. It took new ownership another few years before the Wings would find success.

Remember when the Oilers Steve Smith put the puck in his own net back in the 86 playoffs vs the Flames? Well, Sharks Dan Boyle just did the same thing at 51 seconds of OT. He was trying to do a backhand pass around the net and instead, it slipped between the post and Nabokov into the net and the Avs beat the Sharks, 1-0. This was after the Sharks had outshot the Avs by a huge margin, something like 55-16 in regulation and the Sharks threw everything at Craig Anderson in the 2nd and 3rd periods but, the sideboards and team benches and could not get it past him. Then they lose in a fluke.
-
I just remembered, Paul Coffey did the same here back in 96 vs the Avs. So that's twice in the playoffs the Avs got a gift goal.

I'm with you. I to love the song and even use the opening of it for my cell phone ringtone. As for the South Detroit reference, who cares. It's just a song. Quit taking it to literally and just enjoy the music and Steve Perrys voice. And yes, I'm from Detroit. I was born in the city and have lived in the Detroit area all of my 62 yrs.

According to Tim Strickland on Hockey Buzz, it was Calgary.

Well, you guys are lucky you even have access to Center Ice. Had it for all those years with Directv and one year with Comcast. Now, I'm with AT&T's Uverse and they don't even offer it. And if you try and get info on when they might add it, nobody knows anything or they tell you it's coming anytime. Hell, even Verizon offers it with their FIOS system. And I might seriously consider dropping Uverse and go back to either Comcast or DTV just to get it. That would be ashame because I really like Uverse. It's a fantastic system. And Savaking72, even 85% on CI is well worth the price. Break it down to per game basis, and it's a small price to pay.

What makes everybody think that Bowman has anything to do with what Chicago did. He's not the GM, Tallon is. Scotty may offer advice but Tallon is the decider.
-
Isn't it funny? Sammy kicked around the NHL from team to team for a bunch of years enjoying only moderate success. He comes here, obviously gets with the right kind of teamates and has the best years of his career culminating with last years Cup.
-
Valenti and Foster on 97.1 are confirming this but, the other sites like CBC and TSN have absolutley nothing about it. Same with NHL.com and Sportsnet.
-
Would you rather have Barry Melrose make the prediction?
-
That's funny because I was watching Calgary and Chicago on Versus and in HD and yes, they did go the SJ/ Ana game. Saw the fight in HD
-
After Vs was done showing the Wings game, they went into the Hawks-Flames in the 2nd period and showed the rest of it, then went into the Sharks-Ducks.
-
Oh really? Then why was the game on here on both FSD and Vs? But the strangest thing was that on Uverse, they had the regular Wings coverage with Redmond and Daniels on FSD-SD but, on FSD-HD, they were showing the Fox Sports Ohio coverage with Reimer and Gare.
