They should have just done some kind of play-in round in Europe. London probably, since Buttman probably wants to "grow the game". Seriously, how much more planning would a short qualification round take?

They probably would have put in Slovakia and Switzerland, currently ranked #7 and #8, if Slovakia hadn't been such an embarrassment in the last Olympics. Their program is f-ed up. I feel bad for Switzerland though, they've really been putting up a fight in the last few years and could upset one of the bigger countries easily.

I'm a little confused on the format... Why are the semis single game elimination, but the final round is best-of-three? Also, not really excited about either of these Young Stars and Team Europe concepts... Glad to hear that the plan in 2020 is for a true qualification process, though. Overall, I like this. The question is... Can they make it meaningful?

Detroit vs Minnesota - on Lake Superior. Columbus? How about we actually play them in a playoff series at least once? Edit: I forgot about the sweep in 08-09 playoffs... What a "rivalry". OK how about they win one playoff game against the Wings first.

This is really only a difficult question when it comes to playoff time....I would certainly forego putting in Monster if Howie can't handle things. On the other hand, if the Griffs make the playoffs, what do you do? Until then, lets just enjoy having a great future goaltender in Mrazek.

It was widely known that Gustavsson was pretty fragile before he arrived in Detroit. This isn't a surprise, really. I'm not sure that the Wings trainers don't share a little of the blame, though. Really happy for Mrazek. It's your time to shine, kid. Let's go.

Wow. This is really sad...I really hope for the best for Mr. Wuest. His health and family come first. About the site though....his tweet said that the site has "permanently" ceased operations. That language is extremely final. Why, I wonder?
