I am shocked. Is this a serious post by you??? I tend to agree with you, actually. Boston Garden, Chicago Stadium, and the old Olympia should never have been torn down. At the very least, they could have been preserved and reused like the Montreal Forum (now a Canadiens-themed shopping complex in the original shell) and Maple Leaf Gardens (now a multi-purpose building in the original shell as well). The Joe is not one of those old historic 1920s "cathedrals of hockey" like I mentioned, though. Its a late 70s dump.

How much longer can this go on before he's waived? I don't even see how he's trade-worthy, unless Florida wants him back. Come on Weiss, we're pulling for you.

I'm conflicted on this. I'm sure most of you guys that have been there over the years are as well. On one hand, the place has turned into somewhat of an stinkhole. The Joe is embarrassing compared to many of the nice new arenas built within the last 10-15 years. It has this weird post-apocalyptic vibe to it. Until you sit down in your seat, anywhere. Then its magic. This new arena better help me forget the ol' Joe, thats all I have to say!

The Bolts would lose the two teams in the region (Thrashers and Panthers), leaving them alone. I wonder if it would drive interest in the NHL down in the region, or maybe it would be great for TB since they're the only game in town, so to speak.

Its a good deal. The 11 game preview "season" that was burned on his entry level contract was the price the Wings had to pay to get this kid. Last year was his rookie season for all practical purposes. Now we see if he suffers from an extended sophomore slump like other D-men *cough*ERICSSON*cough. If not, then he gets a big payday and a long term contact in 2 years. Everyone here will love it.
