So.... This would have been a little easier to tolerate this BS when I was living in another state and supported that team as a 2nd. Now I'm in Michigan and I have nothing to soften the blow from this genius general manager.

Perhaps it has to do with a perception around the league that Ken Holland and Jimmy Devellano likely have created. They have poisoned the waters, so to speak. We only get little hints and the rare quotes, but what little we have seen seems to make sense in that context. It has very little to do with the city of Detroit, it's fans, and very little if nothing to do with the Joe. Let's just eliminate those from the realm of realistic possibility. So, what are we left with? The front office... The players.... The ownership... Or The coaching staff. The core players are great, and we have no reason to believe otherwise, so that one can be scratched off. Ownership has historically been great as well, so this can easily be eliminated. That leaves the Front Office, or the Coaching Staff. Babs is Mr. Gold for Team Canada... I don't see how he could be creating this. So, by process of elimination, we are left with the Front Office.

Saw this guy at Yotes training camp, not that impressive... I don't see him cracking the Wings roster unless Blash can work some magic (which is possible).

This is right on. Ken Holland took a giant dump yesterday, and when everyone rejected what he's done to the Wings... He goes and throws an insane amount of money at the worst player on last year's blue line. That's right, instead of letting the absolutely worst defenceman on the team go, he gave him a huge raise in hopes that the extra cash would magically make him a better player. Genius move by KH.

Wow, they did pick Larkin. Thats pretty cool, this kid is about as Michigan as any of you guys could want. He's from freaking Waterford, played for the Belle Tire club, then for USNTDP in Ann Arbor, and now he's suiting up for U of M. Surely some of you guys know this kid?

Niskanen is an easy one. If Kenny Boy has to overpay (not some insane bidding war BS, forget that), then it seems like he should strongly consider it. This team desperately needs a solid D-man upgrade and this is it, no picks or prospects given up. Sounds good to me.

That guy who coaches a hockey team 9 miles away might work.
