I don't think they're doing that in such a simplistic fashion. The issue, to me, is sacrificing the quality and integrity of the game and the league to fill coffers ASAP, a very short term strategy. I'd prefer that he take a longer view, especially so that we don't have lockouts every few years. It's more stable, and it's more profitable in the long run.

Agreed, but this could help them potentially go on for many years, kind of like Dr. Who. With Freeman and Cumberbatch as big stars that can always come back and do a few episodes of a show they admittedly love, I wouldn't be surprised if this was still going in ten years. Which would be awesome.

Only with NBC on-board. I remember the last tournament....it wasn't even on TV in the US, afaik. I recall being pretty angry about it. Also, having the games in multiple cities like before, makes no sense. It has to at least be a host city/region. And the timing has to be right as well. These pre-season tournaments are pretty lame, and aren't taken very seriously. The more I think about it, the less optimistic about the World Cup I am.

It isn't so much about the potential injuries as it is about missing out on potental profits. Imagine some kind of revenue sharing deal with the IOC/host country, as ridiculous as that is. I think that is what they honestly want. "Their property" is playing for free on an international stage. Throw money at them, and they will shut up. Or better yet, replace the Olympic Tournament with an NHL controlled World Cup of Hockey, where money will roll right in to the BoG.

Agree. The Wings need a different, more positive coaching attitude with all the kids coming up. Babs isn't it, anymore. Don't know why, its a shame, but thats how its played out. I like Blash, but I think this would only work if he and Holland were on the same page. KH would have to dump the old dead weight, and NOT SIGN ANYMORE, with a good commitment to youth. Then, Blashill would be a good choice. But you know Holland, he loves em old.
