The new owners are actually trying to embrace the kind of hockey fans that live in the Phoenix area (Canucks, Oilers, Flames fans + loads of Wings and Hawks fans as well). This month they announced that they were the first place west of the Mississippi (state-side) to open a Tim Hortons. Yep, Jobing.com now has the only Tim Hortons in the entire West. Then came this: I assume they will reach out to Wings and Hawks fans somehow, soon.

I think he said referring to nearly all the Russian players stating that they would go, regardless of what the NHL did or didn't say. I can't recall if Dats said that, because if he did, he didn't make a big deal out of it.

How is a hockey club going under ever funny? That doesn't really do the game we love any good, does it? Anyhow, I think the NHL needs to pay more attention to the AA clubs, reign them in like they have with the AHL a bit. The CHL and the ECHL should be merged, weak teams should be dropped, and there should be one AA farm league, period. Another idea: maybe the western CHL and ECHL clubs could be reformed into "AHL West" like the BoG has wanted to create for the past couple seasons.

This is a pretty boring game, the people aren't really into it, and NBC is not doing a great job covering this either. Blah.

What? If that was true, then why all the injuries? Holland put together a softer team than Babs seems to realize.

Not the same at all. Babs is a great, world-class coach. That isn't the issue with the Wings at all. The issue is if he is the right coach for the team Holland keeps putting together.

Exactly. And because of this conflicted, half-assed approach, the product on the ice (or off, in this case!) is often much less than it could or should be.

I think it works, they manage it like a fringe sport, so why not treat it like that in all ways?

The goal was a joke, and the NHL needs serious reform in terms of how these games are officiated. With that said, I think the Wings deserve it after so many bad calls against them. It's nice for it to go their way for once. But I'll be pretty disgusted if this is a regular thing.

Good old time hockey! Yes!! Torts was fired up and so was his team. It's a great thing to see all this passion. Not all the time, of course, but games like this shouldn't happen once every ten years in this league.

This sounds pretty serious. I'm not sure he should be coming back so soon, unless he's playing up the symptoms? Its hard to tell with this guy, he doesn't deal with the press interviews very well.

Timing is everything. He hasn't played in 2 1/2 years, and this is mid-season. Has he been skating all this time? What kind of shape is he in? If Rafalski had done this at the beginning of the season, he might already be on the team by now. And Quincey would be gone.

HAHA, Marc-Andre Fleury was snubbed from the snub team, too. I love it.
