Malkin won't move until end of contract, and even then I expect Mario will keep him around, possibly moving around everything besides Sid to keep him. To TRADE for him? Wow. Say goodbye to the prospect pool and a stack of picks.

Not sure why they would have brought him over for several games to get a taste just to let him play in Europe this fall. HMMM... I would agree that it all depends on how he handles things in the offseason. If he shows up to camp in the same or similar condition, obviously Holland will not be inclined to keep him around. Some of these euro kids just decide its not worth the effort. We'll see. -
Well, Blashill is 10 1/2 years younger than Babs, so its possible. I would assume that Jeff would get a shot at another NHL team before then. For now though, he's really good with the young prospects, so I would assume that they will raise his pay as much as possible to keep the farm going.

Agree, bring back wooden sticks. What part of working for a team owner as part of a multi million dollar CONTRACT don't you understand? You waive many of your rights and become property upon signing the contact. Your thinking only applies to UFAs.

Not a big deal, 73% of players voluntarily wear visors already. Before the "let the players do whatever they want" crowd chimes in, explain to me how this is any different than having legal/policy mandated safety gear by your employer depending on your line of work. One difference though... Hockey players are much more valuable. Well, most of them.

By the way, and back on topic....the Wings officially assigned Dekeyser to the Griffins today. I'm assuming that means the Wings trainers signed off, and they're leaving the decision up to Blashill?

Yep, you're right. DeVos and Van Andel both co-own the team. My bad, I usually see the Griffins included in the "AHL teams owned by parent club" lists. Well, its owned by the sponsor of the parent club...close.

Is it true that each team must use at least one of the amnesty buyouts this summer, or lose it? I understand only one buyout can be carried to Summer 2014. If so, we're going to see some decent UFAs. -

So you don't care about Gus, Andy, Danny D, Tatar, Lash, and M-Raz (not to mention several other important prospects) still battling in the AHL playoffs? All those guys played this season and will be regulars or have significant playing time with the Wings next season. Wings fans always have a second team, it's called the Griffins.
