Plus the fact that we're short on goal power means that we don't want a d-man that can score goals. OK! I don't see Holland as being aggressive enough to pull this off, though. Maybe only after a call from Mr. I.

Yep, I think Bergevin is trying to create a new atmosphere in Montreal, and this won't go on too long. At first I thought it was just the typical posturing from agent/ownership....but then I saw this: And there is the problem. I've stopped paying attention to the cap since the lockout, so someone else will have to speculate on if the Wings have the room to sign Subban even after they trade for his rights, which seems like the easy part.

Agree with the 15-20 game timeframe. The thing is, with this lineup, so many of the "intangibles" will count more than they have in many years for the Wings: chemistry, teamwork, passion, coaching, leadership, etc. If these aren't noticeable factors after 15-20 games, then commence bitching and moaning.

HAHA. The name of the trophy is pretty bad, but even they admit the whole reason for the tournament is to extend the season. This isn't a bad idea for the NHL....82 games is too much. A shorter season with the current playoff format and a losers' tournament of some kind would be more entertaining. However, nothing innovative will happen with this league as long as Buttman is in charge.

Pretty good analysis...I really hope this is only a short-term problem. Seems like it would have been to the players' benefit to organize some kind of interm league in North America. Whoops.

I'm not sure how to reconcile this, and how both of these guys were playing in Europe earlier this month (and for months prior). Both of the Euro Twins should have been more than ready to go. Whats the deal? Negative locker room vibes? Contagious lazy attitudes from other teammates?

Lots of rust, lots of uninspired play. Perhaps Z is not fully in his Captaincy role yet. I know that both Yzerman and Lidstrom spoke of having to rally the team from a leadership standpoint....it might take a bit for the new C to settle into that. As for the rust....well, Howard looked worse than Monster. I'm glad for a big upgrade over last season in the backup role. Franzen....this guy is going to get bought out if he repeats this performance all season.

HAHAHAHA Now this is a game! Unlike that utter heart-less s***e that the Wings displayed. Can't wait for the rematch between Rockford and GR. Should be good. Who was that on the video that had trouble getting up from center ice?

I don't blame you at all, Matt. Big Sis is coming down hard on anything that even smells like its illegal. That said, isn't the "unnamed other popular hockey streaming site" is arguably legal for those in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland since Gamecenter isn't available there? Come on Nordic people... Also, the GCL price isn't much cheaper. Price last year was around 80 cents per day, now its 50 cents. Its a discount, but they sure aren't breaking the bank to bring us back.
