Great idea, Homer is hilarious and would be a great addition. Wouldn't be surprised if the Wings offered him a job in GR or Detroit as some kind of special teams coach.

We are bad shape on the Goaltender side of things. Both Howard and Gus have been idle the whole lockout. Howard last played 8 months ago, and this was the last moment of game time he had:

Congrats, Wings fans! We have a team with two rusty goalies to start the season. HOORAY! Not sure why Monster didn't go play in the SEL to show up Howie in the event the season started back up. Oh well, now we're screwed for a few weeks worth of games.

Franzen is getting bought out. That one is a given, unless he lights it up in this mini-season and playoffs. The contract length is just too long, and its a relic the Wings don't want or need under a new CBA. They have 2 available buyouts that they have to use this coming summer, and they will use one on Franzen, unless he turns it on in an amazing way.

So what. Bettman is still there. Everything is basically the same with a band-aid slapped on top. Even the Sochi Olympics debacle hasn't even been taken care of. And I see nothing about realignment. I'm with the movement of fans that are boycotting game #1.

I always laugh at Z being a later pick, because I remember him being on Team Sweden during the Olympics as the ONLY non-NHL player. That isn't an obvious high pick? -

By the way, I see Ericsson just jumped up from Sweden's Division 1 (third tier) to AllSvenskan (2nd tier, no restrictions like SEL). -

I know Danny Cleary has been popping up at Junior hockey practices....very cool. Someone saw Kronner walking around Target? lol. Would like updates on Jimmy, Monster, Abbs, Helm and Franzen. I for one am concerned that neither the Wings' #1 or #2 goalie are currently playing anywhere. Goaltenders get rusty after long periods of time off. Franzen? He might do well with a whole season off. Abbs and Helm? These guys are young....wtf are they not playing somewhere? -
Griffs outmatched on goal, obviously. Nobody expects McCollum to be as good as Dan Ellis (wtf is Ellis doing in the AHL? lol). Awesome to watch a Ken/Mick hockey game, its been a while! I hope there are more to come since Buttman just cancelled the next month of games.

That is kind of dumb....they will share the arena with the BROOKLYN Nets, who weren't afraid to change their name (from New York Nets/New Jersey Nets, obviously) to reflect where they're playing. This stinks of Bettman...he's ushered in a status-quo era where changes that make business sense are rarely (and seemingly randomly?) done.

Great link, thanks! Lots of good videos on there of the Wings in Europe that I hadn't seen. What do you guys think about this? From the linked website: The longer they're over there, the more chemistry will develop. If this keeps up, are Brunner and Z a lock to be on the same line once the Wings play?

Do you think the start of the playoffs will be pushed back to compensate, or will we see a compressed schedule? They could just drop the All-star crap, in that case.

What happened to the post about Ericsson playing for HC Vita Hasten? Anyway, looking at those stats, I'm pleased to see Filppula producing that much. Now lets get Franzen over to Sweden or Switzerland. I fear how rusty he'll be after taking a season off
