Ah no, I don't want to trade Osgood and never thought about it this season. However, Jimmy Howard is a big question mark. I think, if he doesn't improve in the last two months of the year, a move SHOULD be made after the olympic break. The Ozzie/Conks tandem worked wonders last season, and now its Ozzie and a big ? for a tandem. I don't know if this means dealing Howard for a prospect and bringing up Larsson or what, but you guys do need to consider that Osgood works best as part of a strong tandem of goalies.

Apparently this game against the Bruins wasn't even on tv in Arizona. I would have expected better attendance for a game against an original six (and decent) team. I only wonder for how much longer this can go on.

Ok, you have no idea what you're talking about. Quebec City is not eligible for a Winter Olympics until 2022, as the bidding process for the 2018 Olympics is already started (will be France, Germany, or South Korea). 2014 has already been awarded to Sochi, Russia...I'm surprised you didn't notice that after all the talk about the NHL not participating possibly...and Ovechkin, Malkin, and others already saying publically they will play in Sochi regardless. So the new arena won't be done by 2022? You know, Canada has only hosted the Winter Olympics once before, and the Summer games just once as well. We in the US have had 4 Winter Olympics, and 4 Summer Olympics. Thanks for playing.

Hey Carman, you're right on the money here. Everyone here saw the problems with the defensive STYLE of play (this is completely seperate from the players; they mostly just play the system they're coached to play) back when playoff time was heating up last season. The Wings have gotten off to slow starts for quite a while now, and everyone expects them to ramp it up when April rolls around. And they largely did....except when it comes to what you mentioned: the PK and 5 on 5 in the Wings' own zone. These shortcomings are just an extension of last season, and in saying that, I only see McCrimmon to take the majority of the blame. Now someone tell Ilitch this

I doubt that. The game would run fine until the 3rd period with no buffering...and then only play for 1 or 2 minutes at a time afterward. I have no problem streaming much higher quality video from other sites. Also, thanks for the heads up on Gamecenter not showing the post-season. Thats a deal-killer right there.

I bought a one-day pass to Hockeystreams for the opening game in Sweden, and I was disappointed. The feed kept going down, and I would repeatedly have to reload it. My connection is stable and more than adequate, so I blame it on the service. You might want to give it a try yourself, or try the official NHL Gamecenter online, which you can't try for a day (not from what I see), but you can try for a month without long-term payment. I am not impressed by the online offerings for the NHL. They are certainly behind in this department, and overcharge big time. The offerings from the NBA and MLB are more impressive and cost much less.

Yeah, apparently the meeting between the mayor of Quebec City and Bettman was something the mayor, who is trying to move a team there, said went very well. I understand the plans for the new arena will be released this coming week, and that is when things will get serious. I've got to admit, I'm a little shocked that Bettman seems to be entertaining this, while Hamilton was something he opposed.

I think the cap space freed up by Franzen needs to go toward shoreing up the D. Ship Lebda and Meech off, waive them, whatever. Sign someone worth a damn. Otherwise, the forwards seem fine for now. I like the idea of more space for younger guys. Maybe we'll see more GR kids rotated in over the next 4 months.

Wow, poor Franzen....what a blow! We already lost enough goal scoring in the offseason....and now this? I wonder what sort of move Kenny Holland will make....the lineup doesn't seem sufficient without Franzen for 4 months.

Echoing the sentiment of many LGWers, Ovechkin is my favorite non-wing player in the league right now. Hes an amazing player, but its also the way he puts himself across. He has fun with the game, and doesn't take himself too seriously either (see last season's all-star skills comp). As far as Cindy goes... Howe>Ovechkin>Cindy Contrast that with the Lidstrom/Crosby thing.

Hmm, trading scenarios, folks? I think Lebda will be dealt, but it might depend on Howard's play over the next couple of weeks as to what kind of trade we will see. So two scenarios here... 1. Howard continues his uninspiring play, and Holland says its time for a change. Lebda would be included in this deal. 2. Howard shows improvement with more time, and Lebda is dealt alone. So what kind of options do you guys see in both scenarios?

Its not very telling at all, since I think changes are going to be made at some point. That could be some trades to dump Lebda and shore up the D, trade Howard for a pick/prospect and call up Larsson to backup Ozzie, or any number of things Holland will tweak. But he WILL tweak, folks, if this sorry play continues. So really, absolutely nothing to worry about at this point.

Yeah this is a huge surprise for me to see our swedes not playing their hearts out. It was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for them to show family and friends (and they brought many!) in their home country what they're made of, on this team, in person. Instead, our swedes either seemed intimidated by this, or completely indifferent. For example, I wouldn't have guessed that Franzen would be largely invisible in Sweden, like he was. Agreed. The team's defensive system needs a change. We even saw glimpses of this in the färjestads preseason game. And they're not even on the same level. Many thought McCrimmon would be gone this summer, and unfortunately he stayed. Its still very early, and now is the time to make a change when its evident that it needs to be done.

Apparently they will credit the difference from the daypass toward a longer subscription as well. Maybe the NHL should try developing the NHL Network as the method of airing its games? I saw in the news that Comcast is looking at buying NBC....

Brilliant decision by Judge Baum. He is supposed to have the best interests of the creditor's at stake, yet he rejects both bids because he doesn't have the balls to rule, since either decision would stir up more trouble. So, he's basically passing the buck and nothing changes....except the Phoenix franchise is even LESS valueable now, and will lose much more money this year than ever before. And what does that spell? A much greater risk of the team just folding completely, and creditors getting NOTHING. Brilliant. Yotes' opening night has been on sale for a week...lower bowl 25 bucks, upper bowl 15 bucks. Guess what? Its not sold out yet. This will end badly. I feel for the delusional Coyotes fans, all 7 or 8 of them.
