The problem is that Versus is often in a premium cable package, not the main packages like ESPN and other mainstays are. Even on Directv I had to bump up my programming to get Versus. The NHL should realize the reality of the situation. Also, I think that the NHL Network is largely neglected. Why am I not seeing any playoff specials? "NHL on the Fly" just repeats all day. WHOOPIE!

I think Buttman will move El Crosby and the Penguins to Mexico City, the continent's largest city. There should be more hockey fans in a city of 20 million than there are in Phoenix (4 mil). Its all about the numbers!

HAHA PERRY IS A *****! HAHAHAHAHA Good for Ericsson!

I love trolls, how about you guys?

Yeah if you guys use DVRs you can watch the brown hit on hudler in slow mo. It was dirty (watch the upper-body motion and the use of arms) and intentional (he was looking straight at hudler across the ice). Its at least as bad as the Brashear hit. 5 game suspension.

Phoenix Coyotes -- Worst organization in sports
evilmrt replied to RedLightGoesOn's topic in General
Wow, so the league is running the Yotes now? Hmm so if Buttman has his way, he'll put Crosby on there. Seriously though, I can't imagine it getting any better when the league runs a team instead of an owner who is trying to be successful and make a profit (unlike Jerry Moyes). More mediocre Coyotes action, coming soon! Has this ever happened before to an NHL team? -
Caps will win tonight for sure. They have the momentum and the Rangers look pathetic. They do not belong in the 2nd round. I think the Devils could win....it all depends on how Brodeur decides to play tonight
-
Agreed. Zetterberg has been playing great defensively when the team needed an extra bump in that department, while still keeping the pressure on in the offensive zone and bagging some great goals.
-
so, americans can watch this WHERE?
-
Caps will take this one, they're playing elimination and it will be enough to get them over the hump. 4-2.

Is anyone trying to watch Versus-HD only to find that everything is squished? Or am I the only one? Anyway, for anyone having the same problem, I just used the p.size feature on my Samsung hdtv and set it to "wide-fit" and it MOSTLY fixed the problem. Some idiot at VS hit the wrong button and they're broadcasting 4:3 (square) HD. lol. Have fun with FSN, everyone back home!
-
awesome, versus screwed up and everything looks squished. lol

Everything worked just fine, although the channel guide was only partially updated (Directv). Also, the Devils/Canes game had an HD feed listed, but then it didn't work when I tried it. I'm a little surprised that there isn't any multi-game channel....you know, so we can watch 3 or 4 games at once, like they do for the MLB package?

I think the Islanders are going to consider trading away the pick...they know they can get alot more than usual because of the shrinking cap in 2010-2011. Alot of teams will want a cheap young rookie that can make waves like Tavares. They could really deepen the team, and I think adding one player is NOT what NYI needs right now. Some of the top-heavy, underproducing teams (i.e. Colorado) should be interested in going this route.

If I had to guess, I would say the NHL Network will be broadcasting the CBC games, which is basically the Habs/Bruins series. They have been airing HNIC all year. As far as the Hawks/Flames series, I'm really surprised that CBC isn't carrying it. I heard funding was cut for sports, but thats rediculous. Also, Center Ice is supposed to run for the first two rounds of the playoffs...this is in the terms when you purchase the package. I have a feeling for us out-of-market Wings fans that they will go with FSN feeds over TSN...I haven't seen one TSN feed in HD on Center Ice, and the SD feeds look like crap.
-
Wow, very big surprise by Versus not carrying games 2,3,4,6 for the Wings' series! Good thing I got Center Ice I'm not sure why they passed on the Boston/Montreal series as well. Thats a historic rivalry! Plus Boston and Detroit are two of the best teams this year....and two of the most popular. Oh well....to anyone who can't watch, just get Center Ice if possible. How about the NHL Network? They must be rebroadcasting some of the CBC games, at least.

EASTERN CONFERENCE #1 Boston Bruins vs. #8 Montreal Canadiens (4-2) #2 Washington Capitals vs. #7 New York Rangers (4-2) #3 New Jersey Devils vs. #6 Carolina Hurricanes (4-1) #4 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #5 Philadelphia Flyers (4-3) WESTERN CONFERENCE #1 San Jose Sharks vs. #8 Anaheim Ducks (4-3) #2 Detroit Red Wings vs. #7 Columbus Blue Jackets (4-2) #3 Vancouver Canucks vs. #6 St. Louis Blues (4-1) #4 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #5 Calgary Flames (3-4) I don't anticipate any sweeps here at all. I also Think the Boston/Montreal series will be pretty entertaining, as will Pens/Flyers, and Sharks/Ducks. Teams most likely to get swept are the Blues and the Canes. The battle of California will be hard fought, and the Sharks will come out on top, but severely banged up.

Boston handed the President's Trophy to San Jose today. As far as the two important games, I think Anaheim will have no trouble with Phoenix at all.....Columbus/Minn? Might be a little closer, I still think the Jackets will take it. Anyhow, looks like Anaheim will be the Wings' 1st round opponent.

Aftonbladet.se claims its 4 million per year. I find that strange that its not front-loaded.

According to the Free Press, Holland has confirmed the Franzen deal. Its an 11 year contract.

I agree, however I think Cherry's mistake is that he doesn't realize there is room in the league for different "schools" of play, and the Wings subscribe to something quite different from many of the other teams that just go around beating the crap out of each other. Both styles are hockey, and shouldn't be discounted. Was I entertained at the antics during the Bruins/Habs game the other day? Hell yes, it was old-school rough-and-tumble hockey, but I was equally entertained by the "pure hockey" shown during the Wings/Preds game (even if the Wings didn't bring their A-game...again).

Phoenix and Minnesota. I thought both of those teams could finally get in the playoffs this year. Phoenix was in decent position before the All-Star Break, and had been for most of the first half. Backstrom was playing pretty well for Minne, and I thought he would roll right into the 1st round. I am not surprised about Dallas like everyone else....did you guys forget the horrible start that the Stars had in the first part of the season? I think that revealed this year's team. Biggest surprise is Columbus, and I'm glad that they finally made it.

So Boston won it in OT against the Habs because Price sucks and shouldn't be out there. I was surprised by the complete lack of composure on Boston's part...they almost lost. How many times were there 4 guys in the penalty box for the Bruins at once?? And how did you like the Recchi goal? Lapierre got manhandled and turned it over....score
