HAHAHA! I feel your pain, I get the same exact treatment here in Arizona. Hockey just doesn't work in non-hockey regions. You guys in Michigan don't know how lucky you are (or anyone in Canada for that matter).

Wow, I almost thought they were tearing Windsor Arena down. Its a historic landmark and should always stand. Its our team's first home, even before the Olympia (which shouldn't have been torn down). I've been to a couple Spits games there, and its a great rink.

Impossible. It will never happen...the NHL could fold and the Wings would still exist in some form in Detroit (I hope they could figure out how to keep the name/logo). That said, I could see the new arena being built somewhere other than the CITY of Detroit, but still within the metro area. However, I think things will have to get dramatically worse for that to even be discussed seriously. I expect the Joe to be renovated as a cheaper stop-gap until better things are on the horizon, economically. New arenas, in or out of the city limits, seem out of place in these times.

HAHAHA I LOVE IT! The Montreal fans have made the All-Star voting a complete joke. I see that Dallas fans have been stuffing the ballot box, to a lesser extent. Turco is in 2nd place? His stats are pitiful so far this season. Theres an easy and simple way to avoid this....don't let people vote more than once!

Yeah, but we get the NBC Olympic Basketball and Soccer/Football channels (for free...channel 755 is the football channel I think), and those are showing live coverage. Womens football is on right now. I also saw that CNBC and USA were carrying live events. So, while normal NBC sucks, we do have some live coverage.

I actually enjoyed making fun of the Olczyk/Crosby LOVEFEST while watching the game, and so did everyone else. Olczyk probably thinks the reason the Pens haven't scored one goal in the Finals yet is because Sid is a god and everyone else on the team sucks. Damn the rest of the team! Clone Sydney!

Watching the Finals for the first time in HD, baby! I'll be watching on a 46" Samsung LCD with surround system. As great as watching hockey in HD is...I noticed a few things. One, NBC's HD quality is good...but not great. I'd give it a 8/10 score. Versus is better, and I think it comes in at an 8.9/10. CBC/TSN feeds rebroadcast on NHL Network are a slight step higher, around 9.2/10. And has anyone seen the games on HDNET? Holy crap...thats 10/10 for sure. Why can't NBC do that?

I completely agree here. I've spent alot of time in Toronto, and I remember how frustrated people were at the prices for Leafs tickets AND how quickly they sold out. The only option left was usually buying from brokers...but most of us didn't have tons of cash to throw down like that all the time to get into the Air Canada Centre. People that haven't lived there, or spent significant amounts of time there will just not understand how it is in the GTA with hockey. They could put up another arena next-door to the ACC and it would be a success. Someone else mentioned the failures of the Nordiques, hard times for the other canadian teams, etc. You have to remember...those were mostly due to a strong US dollar, and a weak canadian one. Now the loonie has the advantage, and will be strong for a long time.

good riddance. the guy just isn't motivated enough. there was a lengthy interview in russia posted last summer (that someone here translated), and grigs just complained on and on about having to leave russia and how homesick he would be. i dont even know why the wings bothered if he had that kind of mentality. i am much more excited about brunnstrom.

I actually like this crap! This just makes more people hate Bettman....which is a great thing, folks Can't wait to have him walk out and present the Cup to Detroit and have some people throw octopi at his dumb ass while the rest of the arena boos him.

This makes me sad...as in....sad I live in a place that wouldn't even blink if their own team won the Cup, let alone advanced from ROUND ONE. I'd have to say this is a no-no in Detroit though...trashed cop cars would be too hard on the budget
