Great post, and I totally agree. However...if Dom decides to not retire...theres not alot to be expected. Howard will play the majority of games in GR now that Liv recognized he wouldn't even be given a chance to play in the big league. Howard has to be thinking the same thing might be true for him as far as being a regular.
-
Awesome...I wholeheartedly agree!!!!!
-
I like this idea as well...but lets face it. Any renovations would require more time than the off-season allows. I really cannot think of any place that the team could play on a temporary basis at all. Maybe someone else can come up with something?

The article Mack posted said RIM purchased a large parcel of property in Cambridge. Is that even a viable spot for a new arena? I hate to post twice in a row, but this is an interesting subject. I would like to think that they'd move the "Kitchener Whatevers" to the Eastern Conference for a nice Kitchener/Toronto rivalry. But then on the other hand, maybe the league would see fit to keep both clubs seperate, as to protect the Leafs somewhat? Even in that situation, they'd have to make exception to the lack of inter-division play and create a Toronto-Kitchener series...at least 4 games a year, I'd say.

Marlies? Ok, heres the solution that blows everything you've said out of the water: Put Wayne Gretzky as the coach of the relocated Preds in Kitchener. Ta-da....instant popular rival to the Leafs.

The "new" NHL resembles the "new" NBA in this way. Lots of drawing penalties and diving, theatrics, and the like. Oh, and power plays every 5 seconds. Its not even the same game it was a few years ago in alot of ways. I'm not sure how this is supposed to expand the fan-base....it seems to be doing the opposite. Oh, and this thread title is "a piece of crap".

Or as much sense as having 2 teams in New York? Sorry bud, it doesn't sound like you've been to Toronto very much. That city has more hockey fans than any other city in North America, numbers-wise.
-
Great post. One of the things holding back Bettman's dream of the NHL gaining NATIONAL popularity are "national" teams. I mean teams like the LA Lakers, who have fans in every corner of the country (and around the world it seems). Any one (or more) of the Original Six could be the NHL's Lakers if the league actually could wrap their heads around that idea. Add in national attention to CLASSIC rivalries.....and I think my dog could accomplish Bettman's goal better than he could.

I hereby nominate this post for "Post of the Week".

Pistons in 5.
-
Oh this one is easy. I'd change Gary Bettman and put someone in like oh....Shanny? Someone who gives a damn about the game would be just fine. Then all the other problems might get addressed through that.
-
I'd say Flapjack, all the way. He seemed to be the only guy playing during some of the tough-to-watch games in the Calgary and San Jose series. After that? Dan "Newfie" Cleary Biggest disappointments? Bert and Sammy.

After your team is eliminated...who do you root for?

Tally up another one for our boys, the Pistons -
Well well well...more realignment and talk of teams moving. I really hope the Preds can get it together and show that they can make the $$$ that they need to stay in Nashvegas. Would they move to the Kitchener area? Yeah umm...not with Bettman. They'd move to Puerto Rico before they'd move back to Canada with that idiot in charge. Oh yeah, and I predict that Phoenix will move within a few seasons. You heard it here first
-
No, probably not. I couldn't give a *#&@ less about either team. Like someone else here said, it if was Buffalo vs. Anaheim, I'd be rooting for the Sabres. But I just hate the Sens as much as I've always hated the Ducks. Neither team interests me. Go Pistons!
-
Well, it was fun while it lasted, eh? I'm looking forward to Holland's offseason picks and moves.
-
I submit the Coyotes as a possible move in the near-ish future. There has been quite a bit of talk of that after this season...people here are just sick of such a crap team (and management) that they have become bitter enough to talk about them leaving. As if its not such a bad thing. In that case, I'd like to see a Portland/Seattle move. Vegas is NOT the place for a team, but might be in another 5 years or so. And what about Wisconsin? Of all places in the US that should have a hockey team....they're IT.
-
you're a moron. how do you explain Ottawa being in the Finals? thats the LAST thing buttman would want. but I will agree that the refs are brain dead, probably couldn't graduate from kindergarten if they tried.
-
was watching the wings unable to keep it out of their own zone in OT...commented on how s***ty their passing was.... then all of a sudden.....LILLYPAD MISSES THE PUCK ON HIS OWN PASS AWESOME! wake me up when they figure out how to play some hockey
-
By the way, where are all the ducks fans? I assumed they would have been here to defend Chris "*****-whipped" Pronger was it so bad that they don't even attempt it?
-
Nonsense. The blatant intent to injure will influence any decision to suspend. What happened on tape is the most important thing. That being said, I think it was important for Homer to come back tonight so that any feelings of accomplishment that the Ducks had after trying to take Homer out ARE CRUSHED. *******.
-
excuse my french....HOLY s***. the league is blind if pronger doesn't get suspended for this. oh and thanks for the link
-
Thanks. At least from these pics...I don't see why Pronger wasn't ejected instead. Thats nuts. Oh well, whatever it takes to fire up the guys (and beat Pronger's ass in the process). Homer's OK, so its time to tear prong a new one.
-
Wow, this sounds like a big deal. Does anyone have a clip for someone who is listening to the radio feed at work?
-
My thoughts exactly. Emery is good...but Miller has flashes of greatness that come out at times. Buffalo in 7.
