If you count the regular season (which I know is competely different than the post-season), we've now beat the Avs 6 times in a row. I honestly don't think Forsberg will be able to save them. So he gets 1 goal and an assist. So what? We have any number of players that can do that if they need to step up (and I think they will). The only thing that bothers me about this game is the time...the Wings might be a bit tired but hopefully since they had a few days off they are acclimated to the time change.

Aflac, (unless I am missing it and it's there) would it be possible to add a stat to your GDTs? That would be the regular season series results between the two teams. Now I know that the regular season doesn't have much bearing on the playoffs, but the fact that we beat the Avs 4-0 in the regular season series does say something to me.

Yes, as often happens in the playoffs, a goalie's performance can decide who advances. Luckily, we have a great backup in Ozzie and his numbers are even better than Turco's. Altho, numbers may not mean much considering Budaj has the best playoff save percentage and his team is down 2-0 to us... Anyway, I'm not afraid of Dallas and would like to see them play each other. It would be a great series.

Haha, I was actually explaining to a girl why I was growing my beard out and she said that she liked it. Another girl guessed that I was in my early twenties yesterday (it was my b-day yesterday) and when I told her I was 31 she couldn't believe it. I always thought that beards made you look older but she said she thought I was younger because it's the "in" thing for young guys to grow beards if they can.

Considering the history of the playoff beard, I would say the only rule is to keep it going as long as your team is in playoffs. I mean, if were going to nitpick, the tradition really should be just for the players, not the fans. So, in that respect, I should have shaved mine off after my team won the Cup in our league a week ago.

I don't really care whether he grows a beard or not, but "it's uncomfortable" is a pathetic excuse that a hockey player should never use.

totally agree. i wish all of our players were playing as hard as he is this series. also, i was laughing my ass off when ken daniels called the whistles annoying. i didn't think commentators were allowed to denigrate other team's traditions like that...lol

I wore the Wheel when I lived in San Diego. No one seemed to care at all tho, in fact I don't think they knew anything about hockey. But when I went to visit my girl in Calgary in 02, the Wings and Calgary were tops in the league at the time. I wore it to a Calgary game at Pengrowth and a lot of people gave me dirty looks. I don't think they liked it to much when I said "Go Edmonton" either.

Ever since NHL.com went to the new Flash based video, I can't get any videos to play. I've updated my Flash player and I still can't get anything to play, either in Firefox or Internet Explorer. Any suggestions? I never had a problem until they switched to their new video interface. I mainly want to see game highlights so I can just go to another site, but it's still pretty annoying.

When I open the page you referenced, it's a jumbled mess, both in Explorer and Firefox. Am I seriously the only one with playback issues? I could understand it at work, because we have a firewall, but I have issues at home as well.

Why? Why do they need to key on guys that don't like to be hit? Will hitting someone score them a goal? Now if you are talking about hitting to get a turnover or hitting to get someone off their game, I can appreciate that, but it sounds like he's talking about hitting to take someone OUT of the game...and the way he has played in the past pretty much proves that to me. Dirty hit from 22 = Fight with Mac, Franzen, Lilja or Cleary, I don't care who.

Eh, just ignore the guy. If you really don't care what he thinks (and you shouldn't) then don't bother replying any longer because you have explained everything already. Anything more is just going to be argument. I've been growing my beard for almost a week now (I had to shave it off for my grandfather's funeral). I have my own championship game on Wednesday and if my girl wanted to show me support by wearing something specific, I'd be happy to have the support. Way to go, ladies!

What's your point? People like Mike Vick are punks and should never have been elevated to the point where some kind might consider them a role model. Same with Avery. Vick and Avery both give their respective sports bad names. Avery should not have done what he did. It may not be against the rules but it doesn't belong in hockey and his own coach should tell him so if no one else does. No self-respecting player would do something like that. Effective or not, it just shouldn't be part of the game.

I agree, although I think that the hit would be even more powerful if there were no words following. Tootoo, though a cheapshot artist would know what a great hit on him meant. I'm sure he's read what Mac had to say. And regardless of the fact that he scored on us, he knows the league has an eye on him. 2-0 Wings, can we ask for anything more? IMO, Mac is only holding back from fighting because a) he's still hurt a bit or b) Babs told him to lay off and not take a stupid penalty Either way, I agree with not fighting unless it's needed.

The only thing I'm worried about is the Wings getting soft against a depleted Nashville lineup. Play hard boys!!! Totally proud of the play thus far, I was at game 1, and though mostly uneventful, I have confidence in them, after all a win is a win, especially come playoff time.

I agree. Some of the good players (like Miller) deserve to play in the post. Their day will come. And as far as the Blues, yeah I have a couple of Blues fans than come into the bar where I work and that's what they kept saying, "The Blues make the playoffs every year, and the Wings win the President's every year then have a first-round exit." Well the Blues haven't seen a playoff game for a while now. Anyway, this comic seems fitting.

WTF? Look at the stats. Hartigan has WAY less PIM than Downey and he has more points in less than half the games than Downey does. Congrats, you watch the games, so do I. Hartigan>Downey except for fighting. The stats don't lie.
