No, what I demand is that the dmen avoid passing the puck directly through the slot to the other team, essentially giving them a breakaway. I've seen Lilja do this twice, and none of our other dmen have done that to my knowledge. That's just one example of why I don't like him as a player.

Meech loves to jump in the rush and he's usually fast enough to get back. I think if he's paired with a stay at home defenseman he'll be a great addition. Lilja had not been impressing me all game and that penalty at the end was the icing on the cake. When you are up a goal you don't need to take chances like that. Also, Stafford and Sammy sucked. When will Sammy learn to wait until a shooting lane is open?

On the contrary, I thought that the players sound very intelligent and well-spoken. Memory loss from concussions sucks, as do the headaches.

Well first of all he has changed since his first NHL season and second of all what I really meant is that he plays with honor in the winged wheel. Just like when we had Bertuzzi here, and just like Drake this season, there is a certain amount of respect that players have for us when they come here b/c they know that we don't play dirty.

If he does come back, I don't see why all of you are saying that Downey will be out. I think it's way more likely that Drake would be out. And if you don't think that Mac is worth it, just think of it this way. We call up people from GR often, and he is the best player on their team. Heart aside (which I think is the most important thing) his stats don't lie.

Seriously, it seems like a lot of Wings fans are impossible to please. We have 2 great goalies, we've added toughness since last year, we have a bunch of players playing very well (Cleary and Kronwall are out, but they'll be back for playoffs) and we are leading the league in points. Quit your whining! I'm so sick of people saying we have no chance of winning the cup and that we need to make major trades and such. Go root for the ******* Thrashers or the Bruins or the Leafs or basically any other team in the league and then tell me how bad you have it being a Wings fan. Even Anaheim fans have only been able to watch a good team for the last few years. We've been able to watch a cup-contending team for over a decade now. I consider myself lucky. That doesn't mean I think we should get complacent with the team, but I hardly think we are. Holland, Yzerman and Babcock have great work ethic and that trickles down to the rest of the team.

You have your opinion, I have mine. And one thing I'm wondering about all the people whining about how we need more big d-men is this... Lidstrom is the best defenseman in the game and he is not physical. So is there something wrong with Lidstrom? I don't see why we need bigger guys. Yes, we get pushed around and sometimes it bothers me. But we also score goals instead of having a shoving match. Early exits are not the norm for us no matter how much people say that. It just seems that way because we make the playoffs every year. IMO, sure add a big guy, but he had better be able to score. Bertuzzi didn't.

So Lidstrom's assessment is the same as mine. Lappy didn't necessarily do it on purpose, but that doesn't change the fact that it ended up being a dirty hit and the elbow is the reason why Nick's head went back and why he couldn't skate directly after. Hope the MRI says it's minor.

Actually my post was made more in regards to people I know in real life than posters on this site. I'm a bartender and I just get so damn sick of people complaining about the Wings, like OMG they've lost 4 games I knew they were going to screw it all up, or Hasek is too old to win a cup, or the Wings aren't tough enough. It just gets really really old hearing it every day, while the Wings continue winning more games than anyone else. And regarding the playoffs and our record, I think we've won the cup a good amount of times and just because we finish first and don't get a cup doesn't mean jack to me regarding the team needing major changes. I truly believe that any team can beat any other team when it comes to playoffs b/c it revolves more around goaltending and passion than anything (obviously you need talent to get there too, but I don't think pure talent wins you a cup).

The guy has 15 points in 17 games with Nashville. Obviously he can still contribute, IF he is healthy. Wings management must have thought he was worth something or they wouldn't have talked to him. He turns us down, oh well. I never really liked the guy anyway, but then again I never liked Bertuzzi and I was willing to give him a chance if he would help us win a cup. I just want to win this year!

And that is what it comes down to. I don't think Sammy did it on purpose, I don't think it's impossible that someone else could have done that. I simply think that he should concentrate on keeping his shots down. I mean, even if Cleary had been able to get a stick on that shot and deflect it in, it would have been a high stick b/c it was above the crossbar. I'm assuming that shot just got away from Sammy and that he didn't intend to shoot it that high. And when it comes to Sammy, I agree why shoot at all. I don't mind when he shoots on breakaways or up close, but most of the time he shoots from the point and his shots get blocked b/c he doesn't wait for an open lane. I wish he would pass instead of shoot but that's JMO.
