And I'd like to add to that list the fact that the Winged Wheel is the most recognized sports symbol in the world, according to something I read a while back. I totally agree with the original post, in fact I blogged about it recently: http://inultus.livejournal.com/2007/11/01/ Excerpt from my blog: "Welcome back hockey, and welcome back Redwings, who once again sit at #1 in the entire league with 14% more points than any other team. People in Michigan need to stop taking a #1 team for granted and start watching hockey again. If the Lions were #1 we would be excited as hell, so give the Wings the same appreciation, because they do it with heart."

Crawford encouraged dirty play? No way! Yeah, uhh, no surprise there. Doubt it will help Bert any though, it's not like he was forced to do what he did.

I absolutely love McCarty and we he was my favorite player while he played for us. I agree that bringing him back would cause a huge stir of emotion in Detroit and help us sell more seats. However, I think it's pretty clear that it would be detrimental to our team's success to have him play, even in a limited capacity. For those saying replace Drake with McCarty...Drake at least had 1 point in 17 games, McCarty had no points in almost twice that amount of game. Enough said.

Really, cuz I seem to remember them trying exactly that with Bertuzzi and the results were not similar. I think that you are simply wrong, I guess there's no point in further debating it.
-
Wrong. Homer practices and practices what he specifically does, and to not give him credit for being unique in his talents would be wrong. I emulate him when I play, he's my favorite current player and believe me his job isn't easy. Even in the beer league I get the crap whacked outta me when I'm screening the goalie. As one of my teammates said, when I get a goal from a rebound, even though some people would call it a garbage goal, every goal counts and I worked my butt off for the goal. Homer rocks and there is no one that can replace him, even Ryan Smyth. If you think otherwise then you disagree with the players who play with him. They have said flat out that he is the best at what he does. I happen to agree.

That's a good idea to use a composite shaft and wooden blade. I might try that next time I buy. I used wood initially but I kept breaking sticks so often I gave composite a try and I found one on clearance for $60. It lasted just fine and I felt it was the best stick I'd used until a 250 pound dude crashed directly into me and broke the stick in half. That stick was a 95 flex if I remember correctly and that was perfect for me (it was a Easton Gaborik I think). I'm 220 pounds and 6' and the flex was great. I'm now using an Easton Sakic and the flex is 65, which is quite a bit too little for me, but we'll see how long the stick lasts. Haven't had any problems yet this season and I slashed a dude (he had a wood stick) so hard last night that I knocked his stick right out of his hands.

Lang isn't good enough to resign and Bertuzzi is obviously still playing hurt. If he isn't going to get better then he shouldn't resign either. As for Markov, I really don't care if he smokes as long as he plays well.
-
UR right, I think that set him on fire. Just out of curiosity, how did he know that it was a Wings fan anyway? Even the way he's playing, I think we'll still win tonight just because the law of probability says that even if he's making 97% of the saves, we are due for one (and a W) tonight.

I have a brand new Ford car and I still say Ford should either sell the team or fire Millen.
-
I wouldn't say that Dats has stepped up his game, but he threw the monkey off his back and actually put some goals in so for that I give him the award. Cleary is probably next in line. I expect Hasek and Lids to be great. Flip is honorable mention.
-
Actually that's the one I was talking about, I meant to say take the lead, not tie it. He had a great chance and I'm still not sure why he fell down, but Giguere was down and all he had to do was shelf it, but I'm not trash-talking him, he has been a pleasant surprise.

To the original poster: Get laid, have a cigarette, take some valium, whatever, but know this: Hasek is better than Osgood, at least at the present time. If you are a better coach than Babcock, then you should be coaching in the NHL somewhere. I seem to remember Ozzy letting in a crap goal from the blue line in the playoffs, or was it the red line? Either way, here are a couple of facts for you. 1) Hasek ALWAYS bounces back from bad games and brings a great game next time. 2) Probably because of #1, Hasek has never lost a playoff series in Detroit. If he plays crappy on Sunday, feel free to flame me, otherwise...UP YOURS! ps, I like Ozzy and I have nothing against him, I just know that Hasek is better right now.
-
Yah, too bad he didn't tie the game up when he had the chance to top shelf it. I'm a little bitter about the loss, but I agree that the Wings WILL win on Sunday. I've never known Hasek to follow up a shaky performance with another one. Also, I have this gut feeling that the Ducks will relax a little since Pronger is coming back and honestly I don't think he has been a big enough factor to worry about (aside from his dirty hit which luckily didn't end Holmstrom's series).
-
I honestly don't think that fatigue will play into whether we win or lose this series.
-
Congrats to everyone that picked Ottawa. I think they'll close the series out tomorrow.
-
That's fine, get us fired up, we got fired up about Pronger's words regarding the last game, and it seems to have worked out great for us. Bonzai!!!
-
Stay at your mom's.
-
Who knows if Pronger really said that. Either way he is an ass for putting his elbows up on Homer. I wonder if Pronger cheated on his wife with another woman, a man or something else?
-
Damn, I wish I hadn't switched to the Fox feed, I would have loved to see Homer interviewed. Anyway, Larry Murphy said it should be a 1 game suspension for Pronger upon review. That would be great for him to get suspended, then go up 3-1, the stranglehold.
-
Homer get a hat trick and a huge hit on Donger. UR my fav player!
-
f*** Pronger.
-
Holmstrom (who prolly had a big X on his back because of his 2 goals tonight) just got hit facing towards the boards by Pronger and Neider at the same time. He head wasn't all the way up as he had just played the puck. He was laying on the ice bleeding. Neider's in the box but I don't know the call yet.
-
We'd better win tonight. Anaheim, all your base are belong to us!

Here's a pic of me with tne NCAA tournament trophy. Yeah, I'm an MSU fan so I was growing out my beard for them although with the crappy pic quality you can't really tell. Also, here's the beginning of mine from last year, just cuz it's a funny picture.

So I guess quite a few of you were wrong, eh? http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0337/1128/rss16
