I know what you mean, but I have to root for Kane even though he plays for a division rival AND I have no respect for him. I root for him out of love for my country. Go USA!

No big deal, so the champs had a beer and a smoke. Whatever, it's Canada!

Today is going to be the BEST hockey day in a long, long time!

Hiller was hot as hell and the way the US played it reminded me of the days when no goalie could beat them, hot or not. They simply controlled the puck and put tons of shots on net. Hiller played lights out but you can't just take 50 shots without eventually letting something in. -

USA beat Switz in preliminary round for rankings. This one actually eliminates the loser. Speaking of the game, does anyone know where I can watch it online? -
I personally don't see how anyone can say for sure that was intentional, but the damage was done and that is what they penalize for, eh?

It's hilarious to me when people make predictions during a 1 game tourny. As was said before any given team can win on any given night. Just depends on the bounces. Although I will say that the way the US has been able to put goals in, they should make it to the finals. We will see.

That was a great video about Rafalski and I'm very happy for him and that a guy from Michigan has been basically the best player on the best (so far) team in the Olympics.

2010 Winter Olympics - Canada vs United States (Group A)

What exactly are we doing now? I'm just happy the US won. I thought they had looked pretty good in the other games but I still didn't think they would upset Canada. -
Anyone Else Miss the Larger International Rinks?
Inultus replied to Behind Enemy Lines in CO's topic in General
Having played on both sized rinks I prefer NHL but like watching it on international ice. I do miss it a bit, but mostly just because I don't think they should have changed it. -
I don't really like Crosby, simply because the actual players call him a total whiner. However, I am glad that hockey is getting some attention because of him. And for those that are sick of hearing his name, thanks a lot for starting a thread on LGW so I have to read his name AGAIN!

The good thing about Nick is that he was never the fastest skater or the biggest checker, so his defense hasn't really suffered, but his shots from the point have, so his offense is down and his pay should reflect that.

Meech actually has a couple of PP goals and Stuart already logs lots of minutes. There you go.

Please. Even for a Wings fan that's extreme homerism. They had two chances to win it and they didn't. End of story.

Had to bring this back from the dead, because while I give Rafalski full credit for a great pass, IMO it was Helm who was responsible for the all-important insurance goal after that pickpocket. It's at 5:30 of this video, sorry I didn't see a youtube link yet. http://sports.yahoo.com/video/player/nhl/1...J5Pl7B9_6B7vLYF

He hasn't even been cleared by doctors or played a game yet. I do hope he plays well and gets cleared though.

OP, Williams is also out for sure and Stuart might be out. Nashville has 2 points and a game in hand against us. Win it in regulation for once boys!

Chris Osgood proves Jimmy Howard should be in goal for Red Wings
Inultus replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
It's all fine and good for people to second-guess Babcock and say that Ozzy should be playing more but the problem is that we can't afford to wait until Ozzy gets in a groove. We need points, and we need them yesterday (literally). Simple fact is Howard is #6 of 47 in save % and Ozzy is 45 of 47. Out of his "groove" or not, he shouldn't be at the very bottom of the heap if he wants any chance at being a playoff goalie. -
No big surprise here, my team has done lots worse things than that. I however don't get the thing about getting down with chicks when other dudes are around, especially when your clothes start coming off, but I must say I know a few guys who don't care.

I work at a bar near a law school so we get a ton of law students that come in. They have an annual hockey game between Cooley Law and MSU Law. Last year Cooley was so in need of players that they had a girl out there on figure skates. Funny stuff.

Saw touched ang got my picture with it at the Hall of Fame in Toronto. That cup is the original one though, not the same one that the teams get now.

Instead of Overeacting educate yourself on the Facts of Ott's Goal

I just think it's funny that the first commentary I saw on the goal was during the first intermission of the Chicago game the next day. That was the NBC feed and the commentators aren't even affiliated with Detroit and yet they said it was a terrible call and a no goal. I don't get how in a shootout when the goal line judge has nothing else to look at but the goalie and the puck, somehow the other refs don't trust his judgment. If they really don't trust his judgment then they shouldn't have that guy at the goal line, since it is his sole job at that point to decide whether or not the puck went in. -
The turning point of that game was really at the end of the 1st when the Wings went on the powerplay. They were down 2-0 and had they scored on it I think the game would have been completely different. Instead, they lost the puck on their first rush and then there was an extremely weak interference call against Datsyuk to negate the PP.

Is Sean Avery the Best Agitator in League History?
Inultus replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Ciccarelli was pretty great at agitating and he scored too. -
5 goals in 5 games, booyah!

For those that haven't seen it, watch the whole clip above. Not only was Helm solely responsible for the goal, but he is the one who kept the play going by racing there to get to the puck before the goalie.
