How common is it for people to have such lingering effects from a concussion? Did Moore have a history of concussions? Either way, Bert was wrong, he apologized, and yeah, these hits happen all the time, even in beer leagues. 99% of the time no one has permanent injuries, but it just happened to be Bert who caused an injury. It's over and he's a Wing now. I believe that he won't cheap hit anymore.

Dude, I don't really care, but it seemed like you were justifying it by saying they do it because they are Canadian. I was just pointing out that it doesn't justify it, but yeah, I don't really care how they say it.
-
Just because they pronounce it that way doesn't make it correct. Via my friend with a degree in linguistics, words are defined geographically and culturally. So, since the culture in the Detroit area pronounces it one way, that is the way it should be pronounced, whether the original French way was different or not. Words and their meanings change with culture.

What a damn whiner. Well, he can just consider that payback for the elbow to the head that Lebda took earlier in the game. My roommate broke his finger a few weeks ago and he is still playing... Anyway, that game shouldn't have ever gone to OT. If Draper had just put the puck in the open net instead of off the post, we'd be tied for 1st place right now. Maltby looked like crap last night, we need to dump him cuz I think his talent days are over.
-
You just lost a lot of credibility with me. I have no idea how you can think that elbow was not intentional. When you hit someone cleanly you keep your elbows to yourself. When you raise your elbom that's because you want to hurt someone. Have you ever played?

When I read what the Preds gave up for Forsberg I was pretty surprised and I was glad that we had not done to same in order to get him. Preds fans denied that the price was too high, but now he will be out due to an undisclosed upper-body injury after he has played all of what, 2 games? I wonder if now they are realizing that the price really was too high? Anyway, both teams have injuries to star players going into tonight's game (although the Preds get Arnott and Legwand back), so I hope that our depth and experience can pull us through and get us tied up for 1st in the West.

This is exactly how I feel. Even if Bert doesn't contribute we have Calder (5 points in 4 games, that's better than a healthy Forsberg) and we don't give up any picks. If Bert does contribute (we go deep and he resigns) then we have one of the best tough guys scorers in the league. I sincerely think we got a way better deal than Nashville even if Bert doesn't contribute (although I personally think he will).

1. So basically you are saying that if I have a lot of money it doesn't matter how much I pay for something since I have the money to spare? I don't agree. Overspending is overspending whether you have the money or not. 2. As I already said, I look at his current injury as a sign that he will be injury-prone yet again throughout the playoffs. So, when he gets injured in the playoffs I'll have to dredge up this thread and say I told you so.
-
I did dig deeper, and for the most part I agree with you. However, no matter what you are giving up a first round pick. Now I also read that it is going to be a weak draft. The thing is, from what I know that makes first round picks even more important because there are fewer really good players to be drafted. I guess we'll just see what happens...

I'm surprised that as a hockey fan you don't know that you aren't supposed to touch the Cup unless you've won it (handlers excepted, obviously). Very cool story about Kocur though.

The conditional picks minimize risk acssociated with Bert. If he doesn't perform, we don't lose anything. Nashville loses their picks whether Forsberg is hurt or not. We are barely paying Hasek over the league minimum, so I hardly consider that a risk either. Oh well, obviously you guys don't agree, but I think Holland agrees with me or he would have picked Forsberg up.
-
I don't really know whether it was the fall to the ice or people jumping on him...but either way I'd love to see how it is a "proven fact" that it was people jumping on him that hurt him.
-
He will definitely be a bigger asset than Williams would, and as Babcock said he adds some much-needed grit.
-
You guys are missing the point. Holland himself said that for the amount of risk we took for Bertuzzi, there is a chance for great reward. I think that the Preds have a chance for great reward in Forsberg, but they also took great risk. Hence I think they overpaid, because even if he gets healthy in the playoffs, I think the risk they took was too great. Whatever though, if Nashville is convinced that giving up 2 picks and 2 players for a rental is a smart move, so be it.
-
Actually it's quite different. The Wings paid $500K for Hasek. How much did you give up for Forsberg? I never said the Preds were dumb to get him, I just said I think they overpaid. We barely gave up anything for Hasek or Bertuzzi, so I don't have an issue with them not playing right now.

Or perhaps you are just stupid. Regardless of whether or not they brought him in for the playoffs, this injury illustrates his frailty as a player. The injury was not the direct result of any specific action, so we know that this does not bode well for his longevity chances for the rest of the season, or the playoffs.

I'm glad that someone finally responded with a firsthand account. As far as Nashville, their little threads on hating the Wings are pretty immature and ridiculous. I really don't care though, why should it make a difference to me? They have a good team and so do we and if I go to a game and end up fighting a moronic Pred fan then so be it. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cleveland watching the Lions/Brows game even though one of their fans was a complete idiot and I almost got into a fight with him.

I've only met Dave Lewis. It was while he was coach and we got him to sign my girl's jersey. I didn't say much because I didn't think much of him as a coach and I figured I'd say something to that effect after all the beer I'd had.

I would LOVE to see your source for this statement.

It's a THEORY that some left-handedness can be caused by brain damage. Then again, in the dark ages, it was a THEORY that it was caused by sorcery. I'm left-handed and I shoot right. I can't exactly say why, but that is just what felt comfortable to me.

Get there an hour before the game if you want to watch them practice and yeah if you are there that early you can probably sit by the glass for a while.
-
No, we just need to weed out idiots that can't detect when people are being facetious.

And here I was ready to come in here and tell Hank what an idiot he is, but hey, I have to agree.
