There is no way Babcock will break up the first line. He will add Bert to the second line so that we have more scoring depth. End of discussion.

Cool pics and interesting stuff. I wonder if all teams go that far in their preparation?

I don't really have any rituals myself but I read that Roy would have a steak dinner and a nap before each game. Seems like my girlfriend and I did it before the game that where I scored a hat trick so maybe I should try that again, lol.

Seriously guys, can you shut the f*** up about the Moore incident? The guy has paid his dues between not playing, not getting paid, having a 20 mil lawsuit over his head and listening to idiots like you squawk about him. He wasn't trying to end anyone's career, I've seen WAY more vicious hits, Moore was just unlucky and that's that. Bert already served his suspension, so it should be over! Have some respect for the guy's privacy (as he asked).

What is the greatest defenseman in red wings history doing today?
Inultus replied to Patrick Roy's topic in General
Like the Wings and like Roy? Ok, I have a couple of college degrees but I still can't figure this one out. Is this abstract math or something? -
I knew someone would start this post. The answer is "Who the hell knows, so why worry about it?"
-
Same here. I would want to fight even more after being tripped.

That would be St. Patrick's day and considering that I'm a bartender at an Irish bar there is no way in hell I'll be getting the night off, but how do you know that he is going to return by then?

No kidding...one player goes out and everyone starts whining. I like Z a lot but we'll get by until he's back. A team is just that, a TEAM of people, so it's time for other people to step up. Holmstrom already has been, so who is going to join him? Hell, a couple of games ago Holmstrom had the only 3 goals of the game and Z was playing in that one.

One of Mickey Redmond's best quote's ever!
Inultus replied to LORD STANLEY OF PRESTON's topic in General
I love Mickey too, my ex-girlfriend is actually the one who turned me on to him. He's probably my fav commentator. -
My take on this, from my blog (http://inultus.livejournal.com/) The Red Wings just picked up Todd Bertuzzi, the power forward who is best known for his cheap hit on Steve Moore which broke his neck. It is known throughout the league that the Wings have been in need of a forward with size and strength, as they have small team which is easy to push around. Every small, skilled team needs at least one "enforcer" who will payback any attempts by the other team to injure the smaller players. I realize that many people probably disagree with this method of play, however this is how hockey really works, from the beer leagues that I play in, all the way up to the professional level. Bertuzzi is an enforcer who can also put the puck in the net, and here is a quick rundown of why I believe he will be successful (and a good fit) in Detroit. As much as most Wings fans have hated Bertuzzi over the years, it was really more because of his strength and talent than because of his dirtiness as a player. And for those who did or do think of him as a dirty player, please remember that Chelios was considered one of the dirtiest players in the league when he came to us from Chicago. Now he is a Detroit mainstay. Bertuzzi apologized for the Steve Moore incident, and IMO he was entirely sincere about it, not simply apologizing to hopefully get a reduced penalty. He has served his suspension (and the associated loss of money) because of his actions, and I think he is eager to put it all behind him. Unfortunately, Moore will likely not play in the NHL again, and that is something which Bertuzzi will possibly always have on his conscience. This led me to wonder if he would stop playing his gritty game and turn into a softy who was afraid to hit anyone else for fear of hurting them. This has not been the case although it is clear to me that he is more careful now when it comes to hits that could be considered dirty. He has been injured and is coming off back surgery so we must be carefully optimistic, however before the surgery he had 7 points in 7 games, good numbers by any standard. Welcome to Detroit Bert, play well and play clean!

Gotta love those heavyweight fights, we need more of them...

wow, that's just ridiculous.

1. Detroit is currently #1 in the Western conference. 2. The word "suck" means this (from dictionary.com): to be repellent or disgusting 3. Perhaps the Wings are repellent to Preds fans, but it's not for lack of talent, it's probably BECAUSE of our talent. 4. Jack Daniels sucks. Here's why: http://www.moderndrunkardmagazine.com/arch...s_rant_jack.htm

That's funny stuff.

Holmstrom is my favorite player now that Mac is gone. I love watching him go to work and I'm glad he is getting some recognition. Like the article said, a lot of times when his lines scores he doesn't get an assist but if he hasn't been screening the goalie they wouldn't have scored. I play a game much like his and during my last game I was harassing the goalie and I just happened to be right in the crease when a rebound popped and I got the goal to send the game to a shootout. We ended up winning too.

It means that 2 people directly involved (let's say Andy Murray and Ken Holland) have both told Eklund that a deal might be happening. This is the case for all of the teams listed as e4.

If you are talking about Ovechkin's, maybe I can agree, but I hope you aren't talking about Hisey's. If so, then what of this one:

I don't think they should be mandatory but I wear one. I used to wear a full cage but I hated the visibility issue. I still have a problem with my visor fogging up, but I wear it because I really don't want to get hit in the eye with a puck like Stevie did.

That's actually quite an interesting article. I can't believe that the city paid for all of that...
-
He will always be my favorite player of the last 10 years but I don't think bringing him back would be a good idea. It would be nice to have someone around that would back up our other players though, which is one reason why I'm riding the fence of supporting us getting Bertuzzi over Forsberg.

The Flyers played harder than the Wings. Joey has a slow glove hand and bad rebound control but he's not a bad goalie overall.

Ok, hopefully the title explains what this thread is about. Here is my personal best story from a game: I only started playing organized hockey about 2 1/2 years ago, so I'm still pretty new. Through a girl I was dating I got hooked up with an 18+ league sponsored by a local company. Now not only was I new to hockey but I am also 29, so I wasn't as young as half of these kids either. One advantage I have is that I am 6' and 200 lbs, a lot of it muscle, and I like to get physical. Because of that I end up playing a lot like Holmstrom. I went probably a dozen games without a goal, getting more and more frustrated over not scoring. Luckily my girlfriend was a huge hockey fan and she would come and do stats for our games, plus taking notes and telling me what I was doing wrong/right. She was a huge encouragement. Well one week I told her I felt like this was my week, I was going to score finally. In the first period a rebound left me with the puck on my stick just above the crease, just me and the goalie. I didn't even skate, I just went forehand to backhand and flipped it up just over the goalie's shoulder into the net. Jubiliation! My first hockey goal, ever! That was also the first goal of the game. Later on in the game I was parked in front of the net, with a D slashing at me and I pushed him off and deflected a slapper under the 5-hole. Holy crap, 2 goals, I was ecstatic. My linemates told me, "We're gonna get you that hat trick" and I thought that was extremely cool of them to care about that, cuz these were rude, drunk fighting type guys. With only a few minutes left in the game I was parked in front of the net again and just barely got my blade on a wrister that was going wide and somehow it sneaked in the corner. I turned around, skated by the bench and as I got to the end there was my girl throwing her hat on the ice. She barely ever wore hats (especially baseball hats) so that was really cool. One of the guys (our 'coach', who was probably the most rude and surly guy on the team) gave me the puck next game. I didn't even know that he had it, but it's still in my bedroom, a reminder of my proudest hockey moment thus far. I'm playing RW in this pic, wearing Draper's number.

Exactly. Expansion teams want to have the division teams play each other a lot because division rivalries will bring the people to the games. However, I totally agree with Lidstrom.

For hockey players, what's your best story from a game?
Inultus replied to Inultus's topic in General
Thanx for all your responses guys, this has been a cool thread. And as someone said earlier, a lot of us may just play beer league but we feel a lot of excitement no matter what the level. It's all competition and I feel the same scoring for my team as I would scoring for the Wings, I just wish I got paid to play, lol.
