It seems to be a really popular thing on LGW to bash Holland, but remember this: 1. Our team is one of the top in the league after a season where many predicted we would suck. 2. Yzerman is the VP and is working with Kenny on who gets signed, who gets traded and all that so a bash on Holland is an effectual bash on Yzerman as well, because I seriously doubt Holland would just ignore Yzerman's thoughts/wishes. It's easy to second guess everything that management does and get bent out of shape, but with Stevie helping out, I'm at peace.

Good story, I'm going to start a thread on a related topic. For my part I'm generally one of the bigger guys on the team and, being a bouncer, I'm not stranger to using physical force. I've been in a few scrums, not too many. Whoever said earlier that it's the beer that causes most of the fights is right. When I played for a sponsored team a couple of years ago it seems like everyone drank before, during and after the game. They got in a ton of fights, but somehow we won the whole thing. Honestly, most of the time people would back down from me because they would shove me and I wouldn't move or respond, I would just look at them like "is that all you have?". Silence works wonders. One dude though got the best of me. We had a player (Kevin) on our team who was brand new to hockey and he could not skate well. This punk on the other team kept pushing him down for no good reason (Kevin wasn't in any position to make a play), so I took offense. The next time this dude had the puck he came rushing down ice and I positioned myself to get in his way and I put my stick out to get the puck and trip him at the same time. He fell but still had the puck so he kept going but after the play was broken up he got in my face and said I tripped him and just said, yeah, how's it feel? He shoved me hard and knocked me down and I jumped right back up with my fist cocked but the refs jumped in. Too bad, I wanted to lay him out.

Is there a better way to sort teams in the NHL standings?

Yes. -
I see the points about the possibility of Yzerman not being as successful in the office, and also us not knowing his true role and the extent of his influence. However, I for one think that since Yzerman had some influence on recruiting in the past, he will continue to be successful in that arena. I also think that his role has much to do with trades/recruits/drafts, otherwise why hire an ex-player? You could say that it was for PR, and I suppose that is possible, but I doubt it. Also, for whoever said that Yzerman wouldn't pursue Forsberg, we can't even talk about that since there isn't any hard evidence that the Wings have pursued Forsberg is there?

His playing style has always been reckless, I've always seen him come out to challenge breakaways. puckloo, I'm hoping that getting burnt these last couple of times is just bad luck, however it could also be a sign that he is getting slightly slower and older. I hope not, but that might well be the case.

I agree it's BS, in fact when I saw those standings I wasn't even sure why a team with less points was ranked above us... -
We are in the top 5 in the league. I'm happy.

Although we should have won that game (2 pucks off the posts, numerous scoring chances) and I really wanted us to pull ahead of Nashville, I'm also glad the streak is over so I don't keep hearing about it. BTW, for whoever mentioned Cal Ripken's streak, I'm pretty sure that there were games in there where he made a one inning appearance just to keep his streak going...so I don't know if I consider his streak legit. Now Yzerman's streak of being captain, that is legit!

Babcock and Hasek both pretty much let him know that he deserved the win and that he played well. He himself had to know the same thing before they even told him. If I were him I would still feel bad about not getting the W, so yeah I feel bad for the kid because he did play great. I honestly think he should get a start over Osgood, at least one, but I'm sure Babcock doesn't want Ozzie sitting too long in case we need him in good shape for the playoffs.

When you are behind in the game by a goal you are going to hit hard, not to intentionally injure but maybe to send the guy to the ice and give you team a chance to score. I'm not happy that Markov went down, but that is part of hockey and the hit was clean. As far as Zetterberg, if you watch the slo-mo replay you will notice that he lost the puck for a second while attempting a wraparound. During that time Cujo went down, so Zetts went hight when he got it back. It was actually lucky he lost it because I think otherwise it would have been blocked.

Thanx a lot. I'll try to D/L when I get home.

The reason why the Wings are one of the most hated teams is because they are contenders almost every year. This year is no exception, and I expect them to go through at least a round or two fo playoffs. I'd love the Cup, but I don't expect it.

Gays aren't treated fairly here? How the heck would I even know if someone was *** unless they told me? Anyway, I vote for anyone who gets involved in Legace vs. Osgood debates. Those people are just looking for pointless argument.
