Yeah, that was pretty badass. I've got a nice one from this season. Never seen someone do 2 consecutive toe drags before.

Tell me we're all lexdysic and Homer broke Lebda's foot.
-
What I mean is Howard had earned the tie, but Helm gave us the win. Goalies can't score, unless they're Ozzy of course.

Totally. I can't even tell you how many people I know that mix alcohol with cocaine, xanex, vic, oxy, acid and who knows whatever other BS. It was amazing to me once I got to really know some people just how many people mix drugs and booze. Stupid. Personally I won't even take a tylenol if I'm drinking, I have aleve at home because it has no acedamenophen.

All I can say is BOOYAH! He won that game for us singlehandedly!

"I think it was a fluke thing," Lawmaster told the Chronicle. "We were both falling, and I don't think he was trying to blow up my spleen." I think it's retarded to suspend someone when there was not even a penalty called and even the "victim" doesn't think it was a dirty hit. I hate this crap about suspending based on the result, not the actual action.

Since we have so many people on their high horse because they lost a loved one to a drunk driver (which I totally sympathize with): "I worry that the movement I helped create has lost direction. [.08 legislation] ignores the real core of the problem…If we really want to save lives, let’s go after the most dangerous drivers on the road." “[MADD] has become far more neo-prohibitionist than I had ever wanted or envisioned… I didn’t start MADD to deal with alcohol. I started MADD to deal with the issue of drunk driving.†"The majority of crashes occur with high blood-alcohol levels, the .15, .18 and .25 drinkers. Lowering the blood-alcohol concentration was not a solution to the alcohol problem.†—Candy Lightner, founder of MADD (2002) The cause of people dying from being hit by a drunk driver is not someone going to a bar or party and having 2 drinks. Some of you simply say that it's "smarter" not to drink, then drive. DUH !!! But some of us enjoy drinking and can't afford to take a cab home every time we go out for a couple of drinks after work. Doesn't make us a-holes. Cheli could though, so that's his fault. ps, one thing I find really interesting is that the people enforcing drunk driving are some of the worst drunks out there. I've met some very cool cops, but just 2 weeks ago I had a bunch of cops getting wasted at my bar, flashing their badges asking for free drinks. What do you do? Call their supervisor? Yeah right.

For those that haven't seen it before, I thought this studywas very interesting. Michigan just passed a law about texting while driving. However, you can't get pulled over just for texting, you have to get pulled over for something else. And if you do get caught texting? Up to $500 and no points. Hmm, and yet it's more dangerous than being at the legal limit. Interesting how we come up with punishments. Lastly, texting is way more dangerous than talking on a cell phone, but even talking on a cell phone is more dangerous than being intoxicated behind the wheel. Several studies have confirmed this. I just think it's interesting how we demonize one thing yet allow another. Kinda like pot and booze.

I'm glad someone finally pointed that out, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one noticing it.

Interesting that you mention that because I called the cops and asked them to recommend a breathalyzer to me. They wouldn't. They asked me why I wanted one and I told them I wanted to make sure that neither myself nor my customers when I was working drive drunk. They said I shouldn't have a breathalyzer because it would give me and my cusomers a false sense of security because they might blow under .08 but still be impaired. I asked them why they then assign a BAC number at all if it varies so much from person to person. They didn't have an answer for that one. I hate government.

Laughable. He's not even the best winger on his team. Moving on, when guys like Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Rafalski are all making terrible giveaways, this team will never win. Thank goodness Rafalski's is the only one that cost a goal or last night would have been even more lopsided. Lidstrom looked terrible on the giveaway though, either he is really hurting or he just didn't try to play defense on that play at all. The players who make a lot of money need to make big plays. They simply aren't. When we really need them, they aren't getting the job done.

As a bartender, getting behind the wheel drunk is dumb, totally agree. I've yet to see anything about his BAC though. I probably know at least 2 dozen people who have gotten a DUI or DWI. At .09 or even .10 most people are absolutely fine to drive, but the federal government blackmailed all the states into making the limit .08. Alcohol affects different people in different ways, so coming up with some number and saying that anything over that number is impaired is dumb. I know a girl who failed a roadside test, then blew .05. I also know a bunch of other people who passed their roadside test then blew just over the limit. Like it or not, most of the people leaving a bar are driving over the limit. I'm not saying it's right, just stating facts. 2 beers, mixed drinks or glasses of wine in a couple of hours can put you over the limit, especially if you are female. I had to take a class on recognizing signs of a drunk person. As a bartender I don't make them blow to see if they are ok to drive. I look for telltale signs and make my judgment based on that. IMO, cops should do the same when they pull someone over. It was that way 20/30 years ago when the government wasn't so damn money hungry, and as far as I know there were less drunk driving accidents back then.

Lidstrom's shooting percentage is 1.1%, that's just plain sad. Of players that have played any significant number of games he is dead last, excepting May, but if we have to start comparing May and Lidstrom something is really wrong. I know that he's hurt, but still... when Lebda and Meech are scoring more than your #1 defenseman we need a change. I don't know what the deal is, but he is playing 25 minutes a game and I just can't believe he only has 1 goal after playing in every single game this year.
-
Actually Babcock said the PK has been better due to the role player/grinder guys such as Eaves and Abby. Also, hard as it may be for me to say because I love the guy, Lidstrom has played almost half the season now with 1 goal (an accidental goal) and even though he is awesome defensively, he has to also put the puck in the net to make the kind of money he's making. I think he knows that, the question is how does it change? Or, if he really is hurting too much to shoot well, take less money.
-
He definitely deserved a W last night, but I imagine his team let him know that.
-
I understand that Helm isn't the most talented player on the team. My point is, if everyone played with as much energy and passion as he does we would be winning way more games. He plays to his full potential, which may not be as high as some other player's potentials, but if they played to their full potential we wouldn't be in 9th place.

Yeah, great fights, I missed the first period so I didn't realize that the May fight was retribution, but good for him.

As was mentioned earlier I would laugh if Family Guy made that joke. But, they make tasteless jokes all the time, you know that going into watching an episode. A hockey broadcast is not the time to be making those types of jokes.

Thanks, I signed up.

Thanks, that is cool. We have a ham in our fridge right now, I might have to see about making some mustard, although I do have some british (hot) mustard I get in Europe, I wonder if that tastes like the kind Zets is talking about.

Mickey rocks! I actually enjoy when he revisits old-time hockey as I haven't been watching/playing as some of the old guys here so I like to learn about the past.
-
I really liked Williams on the power play (not that we got to see very much of it). I didn't like his play the first time he was here but I think he has gotten better since then.

I had previously compared the Bert/Moore incident to when McCarty sucker-punched Lemieux in revenge. I was watching some fight vids and ran across this one of McCarty getting revenge for a hit on Yzerman. It reminds me a lot of what Bert did except that in this case the guy McCarty goes after didn't get hurt. We hold McCarty up to be a Hockeytown hero (back in the day) but Bert was totally ostracized for what he did. I just think it's interesting how much people's opinions depend on the consequences of an action, not on the action itself.

Huge difference. If Moore had walked away from that sucker punch Bert would have gotten prolly instigator and a roughing. McSorely would have gotten a suspension (assuming the refs didn't just think it was an accidental high stick) whether Brashear went down or not due to the intent to injure. The McSorely incident was way worse than Bert's IMO. I've been sucker punched before and I will take that all day over a stick to the face (a sucker-stick, so to speak).
