What thread are the translations in? Interesting video. They sound like good singers but I suppose anyone with enough money can sound good with sound editing. She wasn't playing guitar at all though. I didn't hear any guitar in that song, there was bass but I think it was done on a keyboard.

What exactly constitutes "tough guy" status? I do get called Iron Balls McGinty occasionally but I thought it was putdown.

Both of those bastards have bloomed nicely. Love their work out there.

For those of you who don't like the thread, get the hell out! It was meant to be a fun discussion, after all that's why this board exists. Also, for those talking about Mac's actions in 97, he himself said it was a sucker punch. Anyone who knows hockey was glad it happened and had wanted revenge for a while, but it was still a sucker punch. Also, to be accurate Fors/Lar was the 3RD scrum in the game and no punches had been thrown until the Mac sucker punch. Lastly, if you can't just have fun talking hockey I suggest you take your pansy ass to another board. I don't give two craps if you agree with me or not, but we can still have a discussion, at least I thought so.

Glad to hear it's about the least of what it could have been. I've seen Ericsson make some really dumb plays, but for the most part he plays great and as has already been said he is still learning and I rarely see him make the same mistake twice, so I want him to get better and be back on the ice already!
-
Personally I understand why, I just don't agree with it. I don't think that a person's status (be it celebrity, politician, superstar hockey player, whatever) should have a bearing on punishment, just as I don't believe the aftermath of a dirty hit should have a bearing on punishment. I do understand that to give a light punishment to a guy who ends someone's career send a bad message to the public. However, inconsistent reffing and punishments are even more so a black eye to this league, especially to people used to watching football where EVERY questionable play is reviewed (going off on a tangent here...).

Yeah and for that matter what about the backup goalie that was in for 20 seconds and swung the lumber at Franzen? Or maybe it was a butt-end I can't remember. Anyway, dangerous play. Edit: fount it

Wish that were true with the government. For instance, a friend gets pulled over and gets a DUI and a year probation for being at .08, right at the limit. He was driving fine, he'd had two beers for goodness sake. Does the government base their opinion on the consequences of his actions? No. My friend grows weed to smoke himself. He gets popped and gets basically his life taken away from him. Government based their opinion on his actions not the consequences of what he did. NHL should be the same. Base punishments on actions, not the consequences of actions.

Erm, not really, Lemieux probably expected payback at some point, but McCarty himself said that he sucker-punched Lemieux. Bert actually told Moore that he wanted to fight numerous times in that game.
-
I sincerely doubt that those of you saying McCarty (who used to be my favorite player, BTW) was in the heat of the moment would have given Bert the same excuse had he done it right after the hit on Naslund. I'm not trying to justify Bert and disparage McCarty I just got kinda bored with the current conversations on this board and I saw a clip that reminded me of Bert/Moore.
-
I think McCarty's return had more to do with helping him out than it did with helping the team out. I don't think he *cost* the team anything, but I don't think there was ever an expectation that he would win us games. That said, the crowd got very excited that he came back.
-
Not only does Philly suck on the ice but the only way they can win a fight is to have a fighter start it up with a non-fighter.
-
Even though he's my favorite player I was still surprised by that goal. BTW, I have that vid as my avatar on most other sites. I for one have not forgotten.

Exactly. People often throw cheapshots without getting suspended (I'm looking at Tootoo here), but if you slashed someone in the face or stomped them with your blade on purpose you would get suspended for sure. Why? Because those thing are worse than a cheapshot punch. Regardless of who it was or what team he/she plays for, I think it's BS that someone becomes famous just because they were unlucky enough to injure someone on a routine cheapshot that happens every day. Kinda like that kid who recently put the 14 year old in the hospital. The ******* family says that someday they might be able to forgive him and I'm thinking what is there to forgive? That he is a better player than your son? He laid a clean hit and hurt someone. It's hockey and it happens, but the guy was put in the spotlight because he injured someone. Same with Bert, cheapshot or not. All I'm trying to say is that I can think of 5 other players I would put above Bert as dirty.
-
It's interesting that they list the two reasons why they put Bertuzzi at #1. I personally think Bert just had bad luck. Someone had to go after Moore after he broke Naslund's bones on a cheapshot. Granted, Bert's was a cheapshot too, but so was McCarty on Lemieux, but we all praise it because he didn't end Lemieux's career. After watching lots of clips of Bert hitting Moore it appears that he knocks Moore out with one punch, which is amazing to me because it didn't look like that hard of a punch, but I guess when you aren't ready for it...though he should have been because Bert had been trying to fight him all game. And that was a pretty dirty play by May.

Great game by Howard and great to see Draper step it up not just talk it up, with 2 goals in 2 games. Sucks for NY about that last goal though, they were having one more go at it and not only do they win the faceoff and miss the puck, but trying to get it back into the zone it goes off the ref and Draper puts it in the net 2 seconds later. Doubt they would have won anyway though, but they definitely had several open net chances in that game.
-
Was I asleep when he said he wanted to become and ambassador for the game? And to be honest, you have to be reckless to play hockey from the get go. It's a dangerous sport. At any given time you could take a puck to the face, get any number of bones broken from a hit, get cut from a blade, get in a fight, blah blah. I best most of you guys said some stupid things when you were 24. Or maybe not, maybe Jesus wasn't the only perfect person.
-
I know that I've definitely been frustrated enough in a game to do something like that. Hell, I had a guy who probably weighed 275 crash into me and break my brand new composite stick. I went and got my backup POS stick and slashed the hell out of him next shift. Got a penalty, but unfortunately didn't break his stick. I could well have injured him accidentally. Childish and careless, sure but stuff like this happens everyday in hockey. And the reason that he won't get suspended is because a suspension would hurt the whole team, not just Ballard. Plus, it's kinda like if I punch my friend and the bar and accidentally break his ribs (this has actually happened). He doesn't want me to be punished because he knows it was an accident. He just gives me some good-natured ribbing (LOL) and I buy him some beers and that's that.

There was a comment made after the article about Laraque's suspension (here) that said that Kronwall deserved it because "he's been running around, leaving his feet and popping guys from behind and putting them out of commission for a number of years now." Is this true? The only time I know of that he has hurt someone was when he hit Havlat. Are there other times? IMO, the Havlat hit was clean, but you be the judge. *edit* could a moderator possibly fix my spelling error in the title? thanks.

Watching the video from their last meeting made me really sad. Hossa, Samuellson and Hudler were the first three names I heard. Then Franzen gets what should have been the game-winner. It's just not fair!
-
I've said it before and I still feel the same. Forget the intent to blow stuff. Like it was just said, it doesn't take much time to blow the whistle. Either blow it or don't, but eff this "intent to blow." Also, even if I was a ref and I lost sight of the puck, the blew the whistle and found out that the puck was in the net, I would go look at the video, see that it was a clean goal and call it so. Doesn't seem that hard to me...

Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?
Inultus replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
To be truthful, I'd say only half the people in this thread were complaining, the other half were just saying they really don't care what other fans chant. -
Nice commercial, and nothing against Stevie or anyone specific, but it's pretty damn sad that we have money in this state to pay athletes millions of dollars, and yet the state is going down the drain financially.

When people living in their hometown team's market can't watch them, the commish is doing something wrong. That goes for us not being able to see the Lions when they are blacked out as well.
