I think it is foolish to believe there is some magical combination of lines that suddenly turns this team into a top tier force...we simply lack the depth and personnel to compete with the Lightning, especially given how inept our top young guys like Sheahan, Tatar and Nyquist have looked.

Go Wings! Very excited for this game, feel like the Wings will play a much better game today.

If the team can pick up their play and Mrazek can play in beast mode through the playoffs, anything can happen. Really need Abdelkader back in a big way.

We have one line that can generate any offense...nyquist and tatar played 10 and 12 minutes respectively. Its basically Line 1 and Line 4 that get the ice time. Darren Helm led the forwards with 20:23 Weiss with the lowest among forwards with 8:22 and only one 30 second shift in the third.

Yup, totally pumped for the win. But we'll lose this series in 5 if that is the best effort we can muster.

When the whole period is played in the defensive zone, you aren't going to get a ton of PP's.

As shown in the link below, average offense has been pretty stable the past few seasons and is still above pre lockout levels. The fact that offense is down from the 80's and 90's I don't think has much to do with hooking/holding etc....it has more to do with how the players within the game has changed. Goalies are bigger, their equipment is bigger, parity has been increased, the overall talent level has risen dramatically and there are no truly terrible teams that completely lack competent goaltending or any concept of how to play defense. Having a 3rd defenseman when mrazek plays (given his puck handling abilities) is likely part of the reason the team plays better with him in net.
