I want to see Conks get a few of these starts over the next few weeks.

He's going to be RFA at the end of this season, not UFA.

Frankly, nash isn't the type of guy to build a franchise around. He's not a complete enough player.

I'm not sure if I was in a bad mood or something tonight, but I thought it was particularly bad today. I mean, I usually don't end up with my blood boiling and hypertension watching any broadcast team, but I was livid at the complete onesidedness of it all tonight...

Hopefully they come back in the next few games and give Conk another game, would be nice to get them both rolling.

That third period had so much action, especially towards the end. WHAT A GAME....Conks may have had a bit of rust to work off early on, but HE WAS HUGE for the last 50+ minutes of the game.

LOL, those stupid broadcasters go to show the replay of the supposed too many men on the ice that was missed...god those guys are the WORST.

Anyone concerned we may be particularly worn out after playing catch up hockey all game yesterday. Oh well, this is a big game, hopefully they can dig deep and get it done.

Now the question becomes, if he keeps playing like this and comes in around 55-60 points for the season...should we re-sign him and how much is $ is a reasonable contract?

Are you just pulling names out of a hat? Gonchar has been playing real well this year both offensively and defensively and the senators are in a playoff spot at least for now. Ray Whitney is averaging almost a PPG, Selanne still looks very good even on a horrid Ducks team.

This might open the door to a European conference since you could set it up to only have a couple of road trips under the new format. Not saying I'm a fan of international expansion, but hasn't Bettman mentioned that in the past?

That's only fair to do if all teams play each other the same amount of times. Outside of a completely balanced schedule, this is not a fair approach.

Which rivalries did Bettman squash in the past?

Agreed, I'm not saying its perfect or anything, but some of the people saying "this has ruined the game forever" are being hyper-dramatic. The main goal was to reduce travel, that goal was accomplished for most teams. I'm not a huge fan of the lopsided schedule, but it may end up creating some pretty intense rivalries. I'm not sure where anyone got this idea that the goal of realignment was focused on Detroit playing original six teams more often.

Teams ebb and flow; Islanders used to be a great franchise, now they suck...Chicago was horrid, now they are great. Minnesota is actually playing very well this year. Nashville is always competitive, the Chicago games will be a blast...and like someone else pointed out, we are playing these teams a bunch in the current format anyway. It accomplishes what it set to accomplish, reduce travel, with the exception of the Florida teams.

I must be on something, but I love this change. The return of INTENSE rivalries and divisional hatred will be astounding given the amount of times you'll see the same teams during the regular season and in the first and second round. Plus, the chance to play teams like the Canucks and Sharks in the Stanley Cup finals. Finally, the improved travel schedule should provide the wings the extra juice they need when making a deep run in the playoffs. Bravo Bettman, one of the few good things you've done. And LMAO at the Wings being one of the teams that voted against this, they basically got exactly what they were looking for, a dramatically improved travel schedule. Neg away...

Outside of the goal, I thought it was one of his worst games, and I'm not really an Ericsson basher. He was very poor in the defensive zone, weak along the boards, turned the puck over several times whereas usually he's at least adequate in these areas in the other games I've seen.

Is it sad that I've watched the replay of the Holmstrom goal about 15 times so far and I still can't get enough of it?
