Its better than tasty cakes.

He's been below average for 3 regular seasons in a row now...I've always been a big Ozzie supporter but I think bringing him back is a mistake.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
greenrebellion replied to germanwing's topic in General
Honestly people. For those saying white will be better defensively than Rafalski, you are out of your freaking minds, no offense. The guy that benefits the most from this signing is ericcson since the forum will be distracted by whites defense, or lack thereof. That said, id rather sign white than mortgage the future in a trade, just hope you guys don't expect too much. -

Guy gets 19 goals and 34 points once in his career and suddenly he's worth 4.5 million over 6 years?? What is a guy like Cleary worth in a market like this, its insane! -
Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract
greenrebellion replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
Negotiations probably went something like this: Holland: We'll give you 2.25 million Big E: Hmmm, close, but I'd need to know what my role on the team would be. I won't sign if I'm not a pivotal part of the D. Holland: Oh for sure, we'll make you top 4 and use you in all kinds of situations. Big E: Well in that case, I'm not signing for anywhere near 2.25 million, hahahaha. Holland: F***, you got me. Agent: Not sure what this kid pays me for, damn he's good. Was funnier in my head, I'm on an hour of sleep here people, have mercy. -
He was miserable in the sharks/wings series. Literally turning away from shots to avoid getting hit by the puck. One game in particular he was on the ice for all four wings goals.

Chances were already 0% so didn't change much. -
I'll die if we sign White. His defensive skills make Lebda look like a superstar.

How would we have gotten Burns anyway? Sharks paid a fairly steep price, it may pay off if they can win a championship in the next year or two but Wings couldn't have matched that offer. Many are saying we should've thrown Franzen their way, but I don't think Franzen is equivalent to Setoguchi in terms of trade value. Setoguchi is younger, nearing his prime, still improving, and carrying a less burdensome contract in terms of years. I think Smith would've had to have been involved to get Burns, and I think Holland is wise to not trade Smith given our lack of good, young D prospects.

SCF: Boston Bruins vs. Vancouver Canucks

Lol, but I agree. -
No Ian White, guy doesn't have any heart or desire. One thing I recall from watching him in the Wings/Sharks series is he had an opportunity to block a shot and he turns away from it in order to avoid being hit, it ends up resulting in a pivotal Wings goal. He was consistently brutal defensively in that series and was on the ice for all four goals against in one of the Wings games.
-
Philadelphia tried him at wing early in the year and he wasn't nearly as effective, his style of play lends itself to being optimally placed at center.

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

You don't want Ian White, that's for sure. Huge liability defensively and was truly horrific in the Wings/Sharks series. -
WCSF Game 7 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Sharks 3

I scored free tickets to the game! I'll be driving up from LA. It will be interesting to see how Babcock adjusts the lineups now that he doesn't have last change. -
I think they should make a rule change that basically states that if Team A slashes Team B and Team B embellishes, then the original penalty on team A is negated. Otherwise there really isn't much downside to diving. When teams start having to kill off diving penalties, it will be removed from the game pretty quickly.

Someone needs to reply to post #22 in this thread with that embedded video. http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=911641 I'd do it myself but I don't have an account there, nor do I know how to embed videos. -
WCSF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 4 at Sharks 3

Datsyuk somehow carries the team despite his injury...pretty incredible. -
In my previous post I stated how the refs are failing pretty hard if there is manipulation seeing as none of the series are going deep, the response is "they only try to manipulate the game in the tight series or games." Second I point out that there were more powerplays called for the team that was ahead in games four of the TB and Bos series, and the response is all that matters is second and third periods. Do you guys realize how ridiculous this all sounds? FYI... wash/tb was a very tight series and TB and Bos had more second and third period power plays so your points are moot. Come on...even if we assume that this is true, correlation is not causation. Its quite possible and probably very reasonable to assume that the team playing from behind, especially in the playoffs, is going to show a ton of desperation late in the game, spending much of the time in the offensive zone. You don't think this could lead to more power plays for the team that is down?
-
LOL, you guys are nuts. If the whole thing really is rigged, then they are failing pretty miserably seeing as it looks like most if not all the series are going to be done in five games. Boston had 5 PP's to Flyers 3 today, and the numbers were the same in the last TB/Wash game with TB getting the edge 5 to 3.

Holmstrom definitely needs to be benched, but it will never happen.

Can someone explain to me why Babcock is so adamant that Franzen play with Datsyuk? Maybe its just me, but I don't think it works. -
Sucks to be a capital fan.

This, stop complaining about what the team can't control. The reffing wasn't great, but they outplayed us for most of the game, the result wasn't that surprising and would've been had a lot sooner if it wasn't for Howard.
