In a way, I'm hoping they play Anaheim, that way I can buy some tickets and go to game 3 or game 4. But thats just me being selfish. For the sake of the team, it would obviously be better to avoid the travel and the team is rather hot right now.

4/9 GDT: Predators 4 at Red Wings 3 (SO)

Ozzie playing solid second game in a row...my playoff confidence is increasing by the second. **Knocks on Wood** -
nice call

I don't need perfection, it would be nice if he didn't have the WORST goaltending stats in the league.
-
I'm just bitching because I am superbly frustrated. We have totally outplayed the Wild and this game should be 2-0 (5-0 if Backstrom wasn't out of his mind), but because of two poor positioning plays by Ozzie, its tied. Is Conklin the better option, probably not. But this is just killing me and I so hope that Ozzie gets on track soon. Watch his play, his poor play has gotten to his head and he's way too focused on cutting down angles rather than making the correct decisions based on the situation.
-
Dude you are clueless. No defense is ever going to play perfect. Minnesota's goalie this game alone has saved the team's bacon numerous times. Wings have one defensive flub and the puck ends up rolling into the back of the net. LOOK at Osgood's positioning on that play, its absolutely horrific. He's so focused on cutting down the angle on every shot, that he ends up overplaying and overthinking situations.
-
How the heck does Ozzie get so out of position on that....He's been an NHL goalie for how long and can't position himself at all anymore.
-
At least we won't be entering the playoffs overconfident.
-
I missed the third, seems like a good thing i did.
-
Uh, how 'bout....no
-
Warning, Ozzie bashers are about to come out in force, like Zombies at sundown.
-
Hate to say it, but I think the Sharks finally have all the pieces this year to put together a real solid run. If the Wings don't win it, I believe the Sharks will take home Lord Stanley this year.
-
That's not the point, the point is the wings win, and as usual you desperately seek out any negative point to focus on. You must lead one depressing life.
-
We'll get smoked quickly if we don't come out wide awake and ready to play. These guys are hot and they are fighting for a playoff spot.
-
I think they are just bored. Hossa's out, he was really the only one playing w/ any fire anyway. Still think these guys will turn it on come playoff time. But even if they can turn it on, my two possible concerns are: 1. the poor defensive habits we've become accustomed to won't disappear overnight. 2. Ozzie won't be able to transform his game in time.
-
It be interesting to run it at Osgood's current save % of .878 and see when the last time was that a team won a cup when they had a starter with that percentage. Not that any of these statistical trends really matter, but it might produce an interesting answer.
-
Well in that case, BAIL THEM OUT!!
-
Good post. Because of his small stature and lack of confidence this year, he's been coming farther out of the goal. So when these deflections go in that are "not Osgood's fault"....many other goalies may have made the save. The fact is that Osgood's rebound control and positioning has been off all year, and its making him give up goals that "look" like they aren't his fault, but most other goalies in the league would. Do you guys really think we have the WORST defense in the league? Then why is Osgood at the bottom of the league statistically. BTW: Canucks up 1-0
-
Big 3 are going to fail anyway, its just going to take BILLIONS of your money before they figure out its inevitable.
-
If no one is worried about goaltending then why was Ozzie benched for 10 days. I think you need to wake up.
-
So you refute my point by saying Conklin's stats are in the past and then use last year to say that Osgood is the way to go?? My point is Osgood clearly does NOT have it this year and we'd be better off going with Conklin besides the obvious risks (lack of playoff experience).
-
This made me feel better....I'm somewhat buzzed so no guarantees this will do anything for you.
-
This has been answered numerous times in this thread, the reason people don't jump on Conklin is: 1. He's a backup. Doesn't have the same high expectations. 2. His numbers are MUCH better this year. 3. He's generally played pretty well, Osgood has almost ALWAYS played poorly. Oh and Electrophile, keep telling yourself that for now, give it 3 or 4 years and then the proof will be undeniable.

We can always put Lilja in net, he seems to be decent at actually stopping pucks.
-
USA is not a capitalistic country anymore, we gave that up about 8 months ago, but I digress. Besides you can't really blame the salary cap for this year, we have the same team we did last year.
