Wow, very encouraging, solid win. After Lids went out I thought "here we go again". Ozzie looked great and all the d-men picked up the team with their play and the team looked so much more energized compared to yesterday. Nice to see the Avs be the "slumpbuster" for the Wings now. Hopefully, Nick will be back soon.

Has anyone gone to the NHL section of espn.com? The link on the right says "Wings get revenge against Sharks on Ellis' goal". I mean I know they apparently hate the NHL but for god's sake, how hard is it to get ONE thing right? Anyways, nice win for the Wings, I like the physical play this year. It seems to be continuing over from the playoffs. And Zetts...... well no explanation needed.

To me, the only reason they have the shootout is so there aren't ties. It's just a way for one team to get another point so I don't think the NHL would want any sort of stat from the shootout counting towards regulation ( and overtime) stats.

Before his career is over, Nick will surely win 2 or more Norris Trophies and at least (let's hope) one more stanley cup with the Wings. In my opinion, he will go down as the best defenseman ever. People will probably piss and moan about him playing in the defensive era of the NHL (compared to when Orr played) and they would be right, but I still think he will finish the best ever.

I feel bad for Dave, he was such a great piece of the Wings team as an assistant, but I think it's time for him to get back to exactly that. He's not head coaching material.

I grew up in Bowling Green, OH so I'm only about 90 minutes from Detroit. Both of my parents grew up just outside of Detroit so I was taught to be a Tigers (and a little lions and pistons) fan. I loved listening to both the Wings and Tigers on WJR (especially listening to Ernie Harwell, but that's off topic). However, my dad was always a die hard Habs fan since his parents grew up outside of Montreal. I don't even really remember how it started but I just fell in love with the winged wheel. My first memories I really recall was crying after losing game 7 in OT to the Maple Leafs in 93 then crying in 94 after Timmy Cheveldae decided to give up that goal in the playoffs against the Sharks. Then there was more continued heartbreak in 95 after being swept by the team from hell in the Finals. Then I I remember throwing out my autographed picture of him I received from my grandma the day later because I was so pissed at him (and I was only 8 years old). My dad still likes to follow the Red Wings since his team doesn't do much anymore haha. Funny thing is hockey is my all-time favorite sport yet I never got to play since my parents always thought it was too expensive, and they were right too.

You shouldn't be dreading it because you are a Wings fan and you should always think we are going to win.

The only reason I want to stars to win is so I don't have to stay up late to watch games anymore and I can make it to my 8am class on time. Other than that, I don't care who wins.

Like I said in another thread, here's to hoping no golf club's are broken over unsuspecting golfer's midsection!

The thing that pisses me off the most is people saying "well that's just playoff hockey". Yeah, you're right but you have to keep your emotions in check. I know every series gets aggressive but yesterday was beyond aggression. If what occurred yesterday was the emotion of playoff hockey, then I am disgusted with the NHL. Swinging your stick and taking numerous cheap shots is not emotion, it's plain stupidity.

this is so frustrating, I'm ready to go Bertuzzi on somebody. Why is Babcock so stubborn and insists on playing a forward at the point on the PP? Does he not realize its not effective? And why is Lidstrom's head up his ass?? AHHHHH so many questions, I still feel we will win the series but if we continue to play like this on the road we're gonna lose real quick next round. On the plus side, Bert looked great tonight, it was like the Bert we played in 2002. If he keeps this up, no team can stop him. Let's get this thing back on a track with a rout at home, that would be nice. I have a feeling fans at the Joe on Saturday are going to be very timid until the Wings get a lead of some sort. However, I do have to give some credit to the Flames, they've looked like the 1 seed over the past 2 games.

I think Hasek comes up huge in this one, Wings win 2-1 with Zetterberg finally putting one home and Cleary netting one as well. I don't care who scores the Calgary goal. GO WINGS

All these Flames fans talking trash after 1 win, lots of class you know. I have no problem with the fans that come on here and talk about the game with some class and try and post decent views on the game. As for the Cleary hit, even the CBC commentators said it was a great hit. Ironic that it was Phaneuf that got killed this time. Game 4 is huge, we gotta have this one or else this could easily turn into a 7 game series. I see Hasek bouncing back and playing excellent and it's just going to be a matter of getting some more pucks past Kipper. It's going to be a close one but I think the Wings will come out on top by a goal then take it back to the Joe and wrap it up in front of a loud and crazy full house. Oh and one more thing: does anyone else find it ridiculously crazy how Calgary is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when it comes to playing on the road versus at home?

I was at the game yesterday and it was the first game I've been at where an octopus was thrown on the ice. I was so excited and the guy who did it just got up and left since there was such little time left in the game (he probably would've been kicked out anyways). I still don't know how he got it in there since I saw him leaving with a white gift bag and there are no metal detectors at Nationwide. They just have you lift up your jersey or open your coat as you walk in. They also inspect bags so I am still very curious how he was able to sneak an octopus in.
