you wont see too many deals like this in a cap system... these days it's about developing young players into your system and getting value out of their contract (see Zetterberg)... franchise playeres are not as valuable as they once were beacause they will demand a ton of cash.. Jokinen has an excellent contract for the next 2 years.. but look for him to sign for around 9mil in 2 years time... if he were traded it would more likely be a straight up trade for another high end player in the league...

i have no clue what you guys are talking about but he looked really nervous in that Vancouver game and had a number of turn overs... i have seen him play a bunch of games in GR.. he has all the tools to be an excellent defenceman one day... but as of now he is not here to stay... not even close..

I got him as a friend on there too. The thing that makes me think it's legit is he has a whole bunch of friends from Finland who seem to know him personally based on the 'relationship'

If i had a dollar for every time someone said "fairweather fan" I would be rich.. anyways yea.. i guess i didnt mean let him walk.. what i should have said was.. if it looks that Z will demand a huge contract next year, i would trade him the first opportunity i had... seems the guy is only ever healthy the first half of the season.. then as the playoffs get closer he is a wreck and it reflects in his play... dont get me wrong, i love the guy, but in a salary cap NHL i would be careful with a guy like Z. Who knows what kinda condition he will be in 5 years from now.. i would sign him 3 years at a time for no more than 7mil. Datsyuk is the most valuable guy here after Lidstrom... I'm not complaining because of the current losing streak.. i am one of the few who isnt worried actually... all i am saying is Z is not worthy of a 7 year contract for 9mil...end of story..

Tomas Kaberle at 4.25 is a great price... i have heard the leafs might be interested in shopping him as well... with him we would instantly have the best D in the league.
