Yeah it is apples and oranges, but you've GOT TO have some talent to stop shooters 1 on 1. And the team in front of you thing... that's what I was kinda getting at. I don't think I've seen so many shots end up in the twine off of freindly players/from freindly players here lately it's unfortunate.

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose noticed this. I mean realisticly I think Oz made a couple of stellar saves (glove on Jovo and the Hasek-esque flop) or it could've easily been a 6-5 win for whine gretzky and company, then Todd F'n Fedoruk scores a goal on him... what gives? I'm not too terribly worried about goaltending in the postseason, we've got two solid goalies one of which will do the job, just like last year. I think if anything the wings need a solid, stay at home D man. A Jamie Macoun or Bob Rouse would be great (wonder if they're available...) Yeah I know, but Lilja stopped coughing up the puck and it seems like everyone else is chipping in for him in that dept.

this just confuses the issue even further as far as I'm concerned- If Oz has the talent to carry a .833% one on one vs the better shooters of various teams, why in the hell is he only pushing .880% with his team in front of him? Obviously he's got the talent to stop the shots so where is it?

I think what Lidstrom said between periods hits it on the nail head, they just need to play better as a group. It'll come together I'm not too worried about it.
-
well I think he wa just looking out for his team BUUUT.. Wayne was always a whiner. I can't say I was surprised in the least bit seeing him cry his eyeballs out to the refs. That call that essentially lost them the game, was really a better call than many of them earlier in the game. But yeah, he's just doing what comes natural.

We need a thread to compile variations on the name Abdelkader. Stoked though I love seeing him play these days, that and I've not seen Leino play yet. wonder if Osgood or Osbad is going to play tonight- that's gotta be what it is split personality.
-
Only good things Coffey ever did for the wings is teach Lidstrom how to shoot the puck, and get hurt before/during the 97 finals. Gawd this thread is a regular whose-who of obscurity or I wanted to forget..

glad I missed this one!

Good. I've been waiting for this to happen for a while now. Abdelkader and Helm are awesome and could be on our 3rd line right now.
-
how do you say boo-hoo in French?
-
lol.. this is exactly what I did tonight. Switched over to watch UofM vs MSU instead. fer sure won't watch it. I could tell in 5 mins it was a circus act.
-
Ok I just watched the video on TSN's main page. Ok so about 3 different ppl said they totally understand why Pavel and Nik aren't coming, and then Cindy Crosby comes on there dissing their decision... I could barely understand him sounds like he was talking with his mouth full..
-
If it was me in either of their shoes- Not only would I not go, but if he did indeed suspend me, I'd more likely never go to another one.
-
And you know it seems to me anyway I'll double check tonight that Calder plays his hind quarters off against the wings. That's what I don't like about our old pal Jason, he seems to play his best against the wings. That''s what sucks about this, if he played like that all the time he could've STAYED in Atlanta, faaar away..

You guys can't be paying attention while that line's on the ice. If you are then you're not paying attention at all. This whole thing is just this season "Lazy and Sucks" whipping boy BS. If you cloned Maltby and put his clone on the line they'd be -40 below 0 and dropping.
-
Watched most of Habs vs. Bruins the other night and they seemed ok against them but I think Boston can play better. Yeah, overrated slightly.

Zetterberg denies report of rejecting 10yr, $75 million deal.
ltgator333 replied to rage's topic in General
Fer sure. If he has in fact rejected the deal I would want to know what the problem is. It's gotta be the term or something in the fine print. -
Yeah ok but who fills out the line?? Maltby for ??????? Draper to win the faceoff and off the ice quickly as possible? Who did coach sit last night? Yeah I'd rather have Downey than some stuck-between defenseman too but.. You know what- this discussion's all academic anyway. The whole 4th line sucks, and there's notta thing gonna happen about it. I just don't know where you guys get off bashing the best player for dollar on the line.
-
Pretty good considering who he plays with.
-
I don't know who this Kopecky is that you guys are raggin the hell out of but you can't be watching the same player as I am. He's the only one on that line that can forecheck worth beans (after digestion), and even if he does slow the breakout it doesn't matter because Malts is going to cough the puck up anyway. Yeah he doesn't hit THAT hard, but he hits harder than Draper and Maltby put together. Maltby is by far the worst player on that line. The only thing the guy's got going for him is an overactive mouth and absolutely N O T H I N G to back it up. (Always been that way.) I don't get Draper.. I know he's got more skill than that but you couldn't tell. He won a Selke in '04 and has been on the decline since. Yeah, these guys were great in the late 90's- THAT WAS TEN F#(%ING YEARS AGO! I'd rather keep Chelios than either of them. So cry about it.
-
It couldn't be. Helm is as fast as Draper, Abdelkader is waaay faster than Maltby and having Aaron Downy would be great for things like Steve Ott's punk-@$$ face. Only downside is Drape's faceoffs and the experience that Drapes/Malts have, but it don't seem to be doing them a lotta good right now anyway. I'm with you guys I really wish they'd retire. I can't stand the thought of those guys again.

Watch this before you talk about Stevens and his big hits..
-
sorry didn't see this before but isn't that how he always looks, except on NHL commercials?

I will say in Cindy's defence at least he knows that physical confrontation can happen in a hockey game. I'll quickly give all of you that that paticular 'physical confrontation' scored very high in total lameness, but it is what it is. And there are a few guys that play for the wings that if they came up with that much, NOT in that manner (wait for the other guy to know it's a "fight" first at least, geez..) I would be happier.
