Let him go get it cause I don't want him back!

Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?
ltgator333 replied to a topic in General
unless his name Zetterberg or Datsyuk you are right and I've wished that would change for last few years. Also I thought he still one more year left on his contract in Sweden. -
You must be watching a difference team than I was last year because when he was on the ice and not in the box he was the worst forward when it came to defense. He got lucky his line scored alot of even goals.I wish they had not resigned him,he can't skate.
-
If you can keep him out of the penalty box.

Report: Luongo officially requests trade out of Vancouver
ltgator333 replied to edicius's topic in General
But Luongo has something to prove.I would start him over Howard. But he's not coming to Detroit so the point is mute. -
He lost his #1 coach too San Jose. Than the team stopped listening to him.Good coach but I think it's time for him to go.

I seen one of the swedes champs playing for Ottawa last night.I gave up on Axelsson a couple years ago.Happy to see Adam in GD.I think Mattias is a winner and can't wait till he gets hear-new blood with talent!!!!!!! which one calle?

Wow what a thread resurrection! Seems to me there's something physically wrong with Flip? Could be wrong but he hasn't seemed to skate the same for a few weeks.

I've noticed that it generally takes the team two or more tries to clear their defensive zone lately. I'm going to count next game, but it seemed like it was a dozen+ times in the last two games I've watched a per game. Draper's looking better imo..

Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game
ltgator333 replied to jollymania's topic in General
IMO- Thornton ran Perron over, he may or may not have intended to make contact with his head but he sure as heck did with his shoulder, and I doubt it made much difference to him. It was a blindside because Perron wasn't looking, which is more Perron and his fellow player that threw him the puck's fault than Thornton's. The problem with this hit- Thornton has played the game long enough to know that Perron would be caught unaware and would be absolutely wrecked in a way that had potential for injury. What could he have done different? He could've had Perron on his can with one arm, but brought the whole body because he could. Wrong thing to do at the wrong time and place. Everyone should know the powers that be in the league are looking to make examples. The only thing that doesn't sit with me is that I'm sure there's been other hits as bad or worse, why this one and not the others? Again it comes down to consistency. -
Oh you just read Rob Otto's latest article too eh?

Even though it is the Loafs.. On paper they have a squad that should get them in the playoffs. Whether or not they Toronto Maple Leaf the rest of the season or not is yet to be seen, but sooner or later they've gotta do something with one of these perennial-flopper teams.

Before the preseason started I thought Kindl was going to be fairly brutal to start the year, but he looked decent in preseason and really was one of the few positives I took from the game last night. I'm pleasantly surprised by the way he's played so far, and yes he's very Lidstrom-esque (imo) in that he seems to make most of his defensive plays with his stick. Throw in the fact that Kindl's possesses a big-ish frame and he's young... makes ya wonder what happens to Ericsson if he continues to not play well. Janik has done what they wanted him to do so far, now he just needs to make it back to GR once E/Raffi are healthy and he's golden.

It sets a great example, and in all reality if a player really wanted to do something in an organization after they're playing days are over what better way to assure that than getting an applicable education during the offseason?
-
Heck of a deal for Detroit, and in the long run, provided he keeps doing what he did last year, good deal for Miller too.
-
Holland thinks he is close to signing Eaves, Miller, and Meech
ltgator333 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I know, it's not like he's 30-something with a lengthy sports-related medical record or something of this nature- the guy's TWENTY-SIX years old he's only going to get better IF he actually plays his given position. The deal with Helm and Abdelkader is a bit unnerving in that it's not like the organization has so much as a direct replacement for one of them let alone both. -
I am officially tired of this garbage- for starters the dude was making absolute peanuts up until this point and was likely offered much the same again and filed for an arbitration so he could likely get closer to the 1m mark, darn him that greedy punk (/sarcasm). Secondly, the guy is 26 years old and has played a whole whopping 126 NHL games in the last four seasons, majority of those NOT at his given position. And yet when he's actually playing his given position he's not bad. But he's horrible, never going to be anything, and we should get every washed-up, 30-something year old defensemen that's possibly better than Meech, that doesn't understand how business is conducted in Detroit, and possibly can't skate worth crap but oh, he's 6'+ and has a "mean streak" ...that leads straight to the penalty box. Excellent. I say good for Derek Meech, and he'll be playing some quality minutes for someone this year. And if it's not Detroit, well then you can just add him to the list of guys Detroit HAD that maybe they should've kept.
-
Seems kind of could-take-or-leave to me. If he can't skate and/or wants more than 1.5m, I'd lean toward leave.

I've declined comment on this thread so far because really I feel totally meh about this deal. Bert's play over the next two years will make or break this deal, hopefully he stays healthy and performs at least as well as he did last year.
-
Well I called it grumblings for a reason, it's not reasonably debate-able that he has to move on now. I thought the break had it's upsides. Clearly you have misunderstood what I was trying to say. Ritola and Kindl count if they play, so you got me on the hook for those two, potentially. Helm/Abby/E/Eaves were on the team last year, nothing against them except they posses common talent, and Tatar/Nyquist/Mursak/Smith are more than likely not going to see time this year, barring injuries. Yeah, I know but with a limited amount of cap space remaining it's pretty predictable. Overly dramatic isn't all that either, I'm looking for a happy medium. I think I found what my dad was speaking on, and fortunately it says an "outside chance". He, I, and many others think there shouldn't be a chance really. So far this offseason is proving to be boring, which doesn't instill me with a lot of excitement about what the team's going to look like when winter rolls along. A winning team yes, but much beyond that is wishful thinking as you never know what six months from now is going to bring. I'm really not worked up one way or another at this point. I am becoming concerned about the lack of young talent entering the team with the same old faces still hanging around that aren't getting any younger or more talented. I heard grumblings from my father earlier that Maltby is being considered for resigning, (not sure...)and as much as I appreciate what Malts has done in the past for this franchise, I have serious doubts as to what more he can do, along with a host of guys that we've had here for long enough to see what they're going to be able to do. I sincerely hope that there's going to be some emergence of some kind next season, but as I stated before you never know what six months from now will bring.
-
If I were Wilson I'd be seriously worried about being unemployed at this point. And if I made it beyond that, I'd be looking for some guys to replace the likes of Heatly/Thornton/Nabakov with guys who have won something in their careers. I'm not sure if I'd resign Marleau or not- he's the one guy with the choker label that seemed to halfway show up this go around.
-
I can't imagine heads not rolling in San Jose this offseason at this point. Chicago has a good team and all, but not so good that SJ couldn't win a single game against them in playoff hockey. I will be very curious to see who will go, and how far into the organization it will go. Ownership cannot be happy with this lack of performance (when it matters most!) as usual.

Percentage of starts next year for Howard and Osgood
ltgator333 replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
And I think many of us who still feel Ozzie's got it (a little left, honestly) think the paradox you described was started by Ozzie going down with the flu, and Jimmy playing lights-out during that time. And the fact that Ozzie played poorly for the most part when given the opportunity to play was very predictable- the odds, imo, were against Ozzie playing well at that point. The situation you describe at the end, if it is to be the truth, is the one situation where I wish that Ozzie was gone- but then again how many remember some of the UFA's who have came to Detroit at the tail end and basicly folded. It's happened, Federko comes to mind allthough that was just before my time. Either way that it goes with Ozzie, assuming he's still around, it's just a one-year deal. And then we'll have a new set of goalies to beat up/stick up for. -
I don't think there's anything wrong with the OP's idea other than this- integration into the current cap system (unless you scrap the whole thing and start over), and it's more changes after a mere 5 years of the league running under the current cap situation (or close to, it's probably been slightly modified idk). Other than that I like it, it's a nice comprimise between the old 'spend it if ya got it' system and the current hard cap. I would like to see a luxury tax system adopted in the next 5 years if all continues to go well enough, provided it doesn't have wide-open loopholes for circumventing it. The other thing to consider is this- there's economic factors far out of the control of the league. Such as the fact that there's a minority of franchises that operate with a different currency which brings a number of fortunate/unfortunate turns on either side of the border, and the broad economic impact on each franchises' total revenue. Tinkering with things in poor or unfavorable conditions when applied to either of the above can have a much more drastic effect for better or worse. And I'm not really confident in the league's ability to get it right the first time.
