My wishes counter your wishes.

I don't recall him ever getting treated too poorly when he comes back. There might be the odd boo, but for the most part the fans still appreciate that he was a big part of one of the best lines in Canuck's history. On a sidenote - with it being a big game tonight, I expect to see the Green Men in attendance and tormenting any Wings who find their way to the penalty box.
-
What do you mean "cheap"? If you mean cheap shot artist he certainly doesn't have a history of that. The main criticism of Kesler from opposing fans has always been that he yaps too much, but he's totally dropped that aspect of his game. And his game has done nothing but improve. Burrows has also gone a long way to dropping that kind of stuff. http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/Kesler+grows+thrives+middle/3991599/story.html

Why don't you like Kesler?
-
Yeah the Wings appear snake-bit again this season. They're dropping like flies. I never count the Wings out though. And this is the Canucks 6th game in nine nights. They sure didn't look tired last night but you never know.

No sane Canuck fans (of which I am one) would ever say that. And if it's the main Canucks forum you're talking about, it has a massive membership and a lot of them are quite young. Tonight's game is about the two best teams in the NHL duking it out. Providing both teams show up to play, fans of either team who think their team is gonna win in a cakewalk are delusional. Something the Wings need to try and do is score in the first period. The Canucks have allowed one goal total in the first period in the last 14 games. That's freaking insane.

We may have our fair share of 'tards, but most of us know a dirty hit when we see one. Also, the Canucks fanbase in general has always respected the Wings a great deal, and see them as the gold standard with which to measure our own team by. Seriously? Only two goal scorers on a team that leads the NHL in goals scored?
-
Canucks play in San Jose tomorrow and can potentially go up by 2 points and still have a game in hand.

You just saved the lives of a chicken and a rat. Anyways, I say this as just as much a compliment to the Wings as an example of tooting the horn of my own team -- but it's damn sweet to be cheering for a team that appears to be just as good as the Wings at this point in the season. The Wings are the gold standard as far as I'm concerned and to be challenging them for first overall is some sweet sauce. When Mike Gillis took over as GM in 2008 (much to the amusement of rival fans everywhere), he began to totally revamp the culture of the Canucks and now it's paying big dividends. The man is a hockey genius. Now we've got to get it done in the playoffs -- and I have a feeling we'll be seeing the Wings there.

I absolutely hate seeing posts like that from a rival fan. They f*** with my head. They're black magic and you've just effectively jinxed the Canucks and guaranteed a Detroit win. Now I've got to go cut the head off a live chicken and stab a rat to try and counter it.

Canucks beat Dallas tonight 4-1. Vancouver and Detroit at the top of the league in winning percentage which factors out number of games played:

As a Canucks fan this is devestating. The flame of my own life will shine a little dimmer now that Darryl Sutter is gone. I can no longer post my Calgary Hillbillies Photoshop with Darryl as Jed Clampett and Brent as Jethro -- and even more devastating for me, it rips out a big piece of my heart in that I can no longer listen to Flames fans drunk-dial the Fan 960 radio talk show after every Sutter trade. Things will never again be the same, and I fear that a cold wind will soon take over the special place in my heart that Darryl Sutter once occupied there. Pray for me..... please.

12/22 GDT: Canucks 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)
Chairman Maouth replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Statistically in points, Canucks are exactly the same as the Wings. The similarities are uncanny. Canucks have a considerable edge in PP, PK and face-offs. Wings are second in the West in winning percentage (.688) by virtue of one more win than the Canucks who are in third at .677. First place Dallas is fifth at .622 with 3 more games played than the Wings and 4 more than the Canucks. -
Campbell calls (likely Savard) "Fake Artist" in email
Chairman Maouth replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
As a Canucks fan, when I read this about the Savard angle, the first thing I thought about was "Burrows/Auger". Campbell could barely contain his contempt for Burrows in a HNIC interview at the time. The mainstream media is about to pick this up. It's going to be a very interesting week folks. -
That's not necessarily a drunk Sutter. That's just a Sutter.

I think Iginla could get a little bump in production if he was traded, but not that much. His days as an elite player are over. It used to be a well-known fact that you don't wake Iginla up -- you don't piss him off or you'll pay for it on the scoreboard. Now you can piss him off and it doesn't hurt you at all.
-
Wow old thread. Iginla has been on the decline for a few years. The prevailing theory in Calgary for him having a dreadful year this year is that he's disenchanted with the Sutters and the type of game he's being asked to play. However, they still mainly blame Iginla and want him out of Calgary. From a Flames message board: "One of Iggy's worst game as a Flame. A -4 and 0 shots on net. He took a giant step back tonight. I can say confidently we would've won this game if he was a healthy scratch. He contributed below zero to this game. No one can defend Iggy in this game." "Iggy meet press box? I think its time. 2 goals in 25 games? LOL!" "Iginla has clearly lost all interest in playing for this team." "it's fairly obvious that Iginla has lost all motivation to play for this franchise. every night he just mails it in. Sutter has to pull the trigger on trading him now before his reputation gets so bad that GM's won't take a shot at him anymore."
-
After 2004 his play declined and his attitude appeared to also. He would mope around and he had lost his confidence. His confidence was so bad that Coach Vig stopped using him in shootouts because he was whiffing on them a lot. Those aren't characteristics you see in a good captain in my opinion. The West Coast Express caught lightning in a bottle for a couple of years. Neither Naslund, Bertuzzi or Morrision ever previously or since have approached the numbers they put up when they were together. Truly a case of the sum being greater than the parts. When Bertuzzi was shipped out, Naslund also shipped out, but mentally speaking.
-
With Naslund being captain here for a few years I wasn't too sold on Swedish captains. Lindstrom changed my mind about that. Before Henrik was made captain I made the argument that he'd be a good captain because I see a lot of character similarities between him and Lids. Lidstrom kind of put all doubts about Swedish captains to rest.

The problem with the official Canucks site is that it's massive and has by far the largest membership of any NHL forum. There's a lot of reactionary teens etc. I have no idea where the Sedin sisters thing came from; whether it was from a Canucks fan or a rival fan. All I know now is that if it's used it's most certainly by rival fans. I also wouldn't say they ever had it all that tough in Vancouver even when they were second liners to the West Coast Express. They were always recognized as being talented playmakers but lacked finish around the net. Last couple of years that's obviously changed.

At this moment I'm watching TV and talking to you because you're slightly more interesting than a Fritos commercial -- so don't get too carried away about how much of an impact on my life you think you may have.
-
You said: "I know quite a few Canucks fans and they are all the same." That can be taken two ways: all Canucks fans are the same - or the ones you know are the same. That's why I said "(as you appear to do)". You really should have picked up on that before you beaked off about my comprehension. But that's not the only thing that led me to that assessment. There is also a strong overall implication in your post that all Canucks fans are dirtbags. That's called the "flavour" of a piece of writing and something I learned in either post-secondary literature, journalism, creative writing, or English class. Can't recall which. You probably know it on a more simple level as the old "walks like a duck it must be a duck" parable by James Whitcomb Riley. Your post indicates a high level of hatred and contempt for all Canucks fans therefore in my opinion you are a duck. This is further supported by your comments about what they say when they post in various places, and also how they act when they win or lose. Again, and in reference to your comments, "If it walks like a duck..." Class dismissed.
-
Possibly, but if one hangs around with idiots he might stop and consider the old quote about water finding its own level. All hockey fans are pretty-much cut from the same cloth. Most are good people - and some are fools. Examples of both and everything in between can be found within all fan bases. Claiming that every single Canucks sucks (as you appear to do) is nothing but negative campaigning on your part and a pretty good example of what you yourself claim to hate.
-
I don't recall saying the Canucks were the better team but if you want to claim that prize it's yours. Thing is, we win more back-to-backs than we lose and we've had our share of injuries too, including one of our top D-men at the moment. Anyways, not trying to start anything. Just responding back. I'm gonna split. You guys don't want me around after a loss. Just thought I'd give you my game-takes and how great I thought Detroit looked until they tuckered out. Must be hard getting old.
