Nice save on the re-direct.

Yes he did. Problem was he woke Rypien up with a solid shot and then Rypien turned up the volume.
-
Agreed.

And that would be totally acceptable, except when I played a clean hit was answered at a later time with another clean hit. All this crap with players going after eachother after clean hits makes the NHL look like a bunch of idiots. If you're good enough to play and be a captain in the NHL, you gotta expect to be hit. I think someone else mentioned on this thread that this crap all started with Gretzky and I have to agree. Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers played a system that still has negative repurcussions for the NHL today.

Every October in Vancouver Luongo plays bad and the Chicken Little's come out and bemoan Luongo's poor play. Conversely, fans of other teams around the league virtually guarantee Luongo's demise as an elite NHL goaltender. Then, late October/early November rolls around, Luongo does something ridiculous like allow one goal in 4 games with 3 shutouts and the Vancouver fans rest easy and the fans of other teams around the league retire their wailings for another year when they will surely return. Luongo has settled into the groove and they disappear faster than a fart in a hurricane, but they will return to fart again in one year's time as sure as migratory birds fly south for the Winter. Luongo let in some very soft goals against Calgary in those games - extremely soft. I expect that has pretty much come to an end.

Actually, I used to do exactly that. And if my teammate was feigning an injury after a clean hit I would say "Get up you *****." It was only on a dirty hit where I would take on an opposing player. The honour of the game and respect to opposing players for playing a tough clean game has dwindled considerably.

Of course you're right. The Wings are "It", with a capital "I". No other team matters. As far as I'm concerned the rest of the league should just fold up and watch Detroit play against its farm team. I know Pittsburg are the current champions, but none of them have careers worthy of anything if they're not wearing red and white. They don't deserve the cup because they're not the Red Wings. They should just give it back.

He will not play with the Sedins. Burrows stepped into that role in magnificent fashion part way through last season. Look to see Sammy with Kesler and Demitra, with prospect Cody Hodgson possibly being in there somewhere. And Hodgson is a future all-star and Team Canada member. You heard it here first.

Oh my God what a play by Rypien. And it wasn't even a punch.
-
He sounds like the kind of diminutive guy who buys a rotweiller to compensate for his lack of manliness. Then, a week later in his parents basement apartment all that is found are his bones and a fat dog.
-
Actually, it's not. It's about James Wisniewski in toto.
-
That's how I was taught to play by my uncle, (former Blackhawk and Blues). Never show you are hurt, and never ever give up.
-
I agree. Homer didn't know he was already injured so some people are making more of the elbow than what it really was; a pretty nasty elbow, whether intentional or not. The stars aligned against Wishnieski last night, and that happens, but when you think about a guy already hacking up blood and then taking an elbow to the face then perhaps we can understand why he said what he did. Besides, I've seen no one here give him credit for trying to stay in the play and not immediately falling to the ice. He gave it his best and kept trying, and that alone is admirable.

I see an anger management therapist in your future.
-
I don't think either team looks like a bad guy in this situation. However, some of the fans are a different story.
-
Agreed. Athletes have been killed by shots to the chest before.
-
I gotta side with Duck Guy on this one. You guys are rationalizing by discrediting an injured player and attempting to mitigate in order to make your team look better. s*** happens, and it was an unintentional lung injury, and a questionable elbow. Move on.
-
He had just received a potentially serious injury, and he was obviously hurting, and probably a little frightened because of the fact he was tasting blood after getting hit in the chest. Then as he's wondering what the hell is going on he gets an elbow to the face. Come on guys think about this a little.
-
That was the most accurately placed unintentional elbow I've ever seen.

Potential Disaster for the NHL in this Playoff Round?
Chairman Maouth replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Learn what the trap is. Then try again. Lately, any team that plays a solid defensive game while protecting a lead gets accused of playing the trap by people who have no clue what the trap is. -

First off, if we combine our member descriptions we are both Total Jerks from Jerkwater USA. I still think the USA versus America angle could be a good one. But as I suggested in my above post, we need to accept the way everything plays out, because if we don't, the credibility of the NHL is at stake. -

What path would you suggest? That they rig the games and become the WWF or WWE or whatever ******* acronym professional wrestling goes by nowadays? You guys are complaining about potential SCF match-ups at the expense of the credibility of the NHL. Let it all play out as it will. Despite all the crying that goes on in all the NHL forums, I don't honestly think that the referees have orders to favour any NHL team, but if they do, and according to you guys, my team would be on the s***ty end of the stick. If Vancouver meets Detroit in the conference finals I will tolerate NO criticism of the referees from you guys, and I will quote this thread at every opportunity should you do so. -
Potential Disaster for the NHL in this Playoff Round?
Chairman Maouth replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I disagree. It could be played up as Canada versus America. When I was a kid the Vancouver Whitecaps played the New York Cosmos for the North American Soccer championship and it was billed that way. It was a very successful series, in Canada (CBC I think) and in the States (ABC). Besides, this discussion is premature for all teams involved. -
