Potential Disaster for the NHL in this Playoff Round?

So I'm not sure what you guys are suggesting then. Are you suggesting that you would possibly prefer different teams going to the finals other than the first two that win twelve games? And what would be wrong with Vancouver/Pittsburgh? Or Vancouver/Boston? or Washington? -
In my opinion, there should be some sort of "Referee Error Clause" written into the rulebook to be used in extraordinary circumstances. Meaning that; when a goal is scored, but negated because of referee error, it would be reviewable via instant replay from Toronto. This could be used in conjunction with some sort of "challenge flag", similar to what is used in the NHL, including a penalty if the challenge proves to be incorrect. The nightmare scenario for the situation as it still stands is if it happens in the Stanley Cup finals in game 7 overtime.

Seriously? No one cares about Vancouver? -
Good game for the Hawks, winning on the road. Both teams got into penalty trouble the last 2 games, and I think that was the deciding factor even though the Canucks only scored on one PP in the first game. Second game, first it was the Hawks that got into trouble, then the Canucks, including an absolutely ridiculous call on Kevin Bieksa. I was surprised he kept his cool so well, because I sure the hell didn't. That was the Canucks first loss of the playoffs. I expect they'll be fully awake on tuesday.

Good point. Both were incredible though.

Kiprusoff on Wellwood

And Eager refused Rypien's challenges to fight both before and after that hit. But then again, I have a feeling Eager is just being smart about that, as difficult as that it is to process in my mind.

Regarding last nights game, I don't think anyone should draw too many conclusions after that. Neither team played well, and I don't think the Canucks were playing too well even when they were up 3-0. They did capitalize on their chances though. The Canucks defence melted down in the third and the Hawks brought it on. I don't think we've seen the consistent best of either team yet, and Luongo definitely had an off night. Some players on both teams played great though: the Sedins, Wellwood, Kesler, Salo, Kane and Keith. Eager also played well but may get a suspension for a late head-hit. Also, Khabibulin still hasn't beaten the Canucks in 11 years. The Bulin Wall continues to have a few bricks missing when it needs to keep the Canucks at bay.

I enjoyed it thanks. But man, to anyone who's going to watch it -- turn the volume off.

Actually, Luongo does let in some soft goals. He is a traditionally slow starter and that's when it happens the most. However, other saves he makes during the same games tends to make up for them. But after he's been playing for a month or so and he's in the zone, that's when he is truly incredible. Also, if he's criticized in any way, (Calgary media for instance), he gets very pissed and plays even above and beyond his usual incredible self. Flames fans damn near lynched one of their hometown sports writers after he criticized Luongo and then proceeded to put on a goal-tending clinic and shut the Flames out.

I was talking first and second round of the playoffs in 2007 and I didn't even mention the Wings in that context, and I didn't mention the Sharks at all. If you actually read my post (and the part you highlighted) you would know that.

Two years ago the Canucks finished off the Stars in seven games in something like quadruple overtime after a series that was filled with overtime games and which basically was good for about ten or eleven games worth of playing time. We then had less than 48 hours rest to play a well-rested Ducks team in the next series and got creamed in the first game. Never rreally had any rest from the start of the playoffs until the Ducks eliminated us in five games. I agree with you whole-heartedly -- both the Canucks and Wings should benefit from winning in four games if past history is any precedent.

Oh DUDE! I wasn't applying for the position. I was merely asking what inquiring minds want to know.
-
Chunkylover, are you the same as a "Chubbylover"?
-
Thanks. I wasn't sure what the criteria was and thought it could be based on who finishes off who first. I know I should I know this stuff, but whatever, I wasn't sure.

I don't normally like to get too ahead of myself, but I predict a Wings/Canucks Western Conference final. Does anyone know if there are mitigating factors that could decide home ice advantage, or does that go to the Wings no matter what happens?
-
Not mine. Saw it on CDC.
-
Well I have to give you credit for a good explanation and for you taking the time to explain it to me well. Thank you, from a Canucks fan.
-
Excuse me if I am mistaken, but don't the Wings also have a team called the Anaheim Ducks to get through during that same time period?

I'm pretty sure that the NHL and the CBC will want the Canucks playing Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada. That would mean a thursday start to the series.

I predict a lack of sleep in your future.
