    Don cherry on HNIC

A city of 5-6 million (plus surrounding areas) can't find a few thousand people to pay enough for Red Wings tickets? How many seasons tickets are sold and what's available for every game? 2,000 seats maybe? Less? The problem is not that there's a lack of expendable income, (unless Saddam Hussein has been resurrected and used the key to Detroit he was given to turn Detroit into "Bagdhad West") the problem is that there isn't enough interest coming from the people who do have expendable income. This goes back to what Don Cherry said; not enough people in the Detroit area are interested in the Wings.

    Don cherry on HNIC

Well I hope that continues. In my opinion the NHL can't ever be considered 100 percent healthy without Detroit doing well with their fans. Things are looking up in Chicago, New York, Pitts, Philly, it would be sad and ironic as hell if Detroit continued to go in the toilet while other teams are seeing a fan revival. Heaton, didn't you used to have that avatar of the guy with the jerky face? That thing always creeped me out.

    Don cherry on HNIC

And it impresses you that a player doesn't stand up for himself? He has a valid point. What's yours? I thought the Wings games were always sold out but the corporate seats weren't getting filled? That, to me, indicates a sad state of hockey in Detroit and if true, blows your "they can't afford tickets" theory right out of the water. I guess it would be almost as bad as it would be if the games were not sold out. Sorry, but you're the one who seems angry. I saw that same accusation (racist) mentioned earlier in this thread. How is Don Cherry a racist? Cherry is a proud supporter of the Canadian Military, cops, firefighters, sick kids, etc., etc. His feelings about Canadian soldiers or cops who have died are sincere. You, on the other hand, stand behind your "military family members" in order to insult someone who uses his program (he doesn't have to) to honour fallen soldiers. Who is more pathetic? Besides, I'd say by your name that you're an American from the Detroit area. Don't concern yourself about what Don Cherry says about our soldiers. His words count, not yours. I love the Wings, but there's definitely something wrong in Detroit when it comes to fan support. If it's corporate support not putting asses in the seats then a remedy needs to be found, especially considering that there's a conference final going on. Detroit is rapidly becoming known as having the most boring building to play in in the NHL. If the games aren't being sold out you can't tell me that it's a financial issue with fans. Bulls***. You choose where your expendable income goes, and if you're a TRUE fan, it would go to tickets. Surely, there must be a few thousand people out of the 5 million in the Detroit area who can afford tickets. I hope some of you guys find it as sad as I do that the fans of Nashville out-cheered the Wings. I mean WTF? Nashville? I don't particularly like or dislike Don Cherry, but some people seem to get real pissy when the truth hits home.

Early Predictions Wings out in First Round

The guy is obviously a Homer, but is he really any different than most of you guys who almost always predict a Red Wings win in the "Weekend Picks" thread. He just has an independent outlet for his Homerism.

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

Another gem from a Ducks fan... "Kesler instigated the "Stomp" and should be given something for intent to injure." -- mywifeluvsteemu There is nothing in his post to indicate that he's joking. I can only conclude that this idiot is a master at being unintentionally funny.

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

Apparently so. I'm not a big fan of generalizing about an entire fanbase, but they're pretty loony over on the Ducks board. Many of them are claiming that Kesler endangered Pronger more by holding onto his leg for an eighth of a second than Pronger endangered Kesler by kicking him.

    Pronger Suspended 8 Games

My favourite comment from a Ducks fan: "How many games does Kesler get for his intent to injure Pronger by putting a leg lock on him? This is like everything else. The initial action goes unpunished." -- SinBin

    Ed Jovanovski for the Norris

You need to go look up the definition of racism.
  9. Chairman Maouth

    Ed Jovanovski for the Norris

Please. What you describe isn't racism. It's not even bigotry. If anything, it's nationalism; something that Americans also have in spades.
  10. Chairman Maouth

    Ed Jovanovski for the Norris

Well maybe you're not lying, but you definitely didn't hear Don Cherry correctly. He said he should be "considered" for the Norris, not that he should win it unequivocally, hands-down like you're suggesting. Besides, Jovanoski is having an excellent year and I agree with Cherry. Unless there's only ever 1 candidate to vote for, (which would be ludicrous and make a "vote" meaningless) Jovanoski should be considered for the Norris.

    TSN does it again... HELP!

I couldn't find any that work there, but I did find what looks like a more reliable site for IP's. It's always kind of a hit and miss thing, but I don't think you can screw up your computer. The way i understand it, (I'm no expert) the bigggest problem is that you essentially put more miles and twists and turns on the road that your connection travels from you to the source that you're accessing. Because of this, your connection may be unstable or slow.

    TSN does it again... HELP!

You should be able to find one here: http://www.aliveproxy.com/proxy-list/proxies.aspx/Canada-ca You kind of need to know what you're doing in your "Internet Options" though. If anyone who wants this doesn't know what they're doing, get back to me here and I'll try and help you out. It's not tough at all. You just have to know where to go in your computer to change things.

Cowan suspended 1 game for hit on Meech

Sorry guys, but that hit just wasn't that bad. Worthy of a suspension? I almost puked when I heard he got a game. He got his hands high into the face and it was worthy of a 2 minute roughing penalty, nothing more. The NHL has gone suspension-crazy. You see worse hits every single game, and I have no idea why Cowan was cut from the pack for this one, unless the Wings made a formal complaint or something like that. But if they're complaining about that hit, they're going to be filing complaints every game.

    Hehe.... Okay I deserved that.

    Bitter Canuck fans

Oh overall, there probably wasn't. I just got into it with some people on the Saturday GDT and feel there were some unnecessary comments made. I apologize for barging in here and being a bit of a dick to you. Hope we can be friends.

    Bitter Canuck fans

I understand. You seem like a decent person. I'm just a little tired of the attacks against the Canucks and their fans here. We're all fans and none of us hold the high road over the other, generally speaking.

Yeah I kinda glanced at that too. Why don't you put up a quote.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

Yeah I did read it, and I know what you said. Point is, you're putting down Canucks fans, you're using a supposedly personal incident to do it with no proof other than your word and I'm supposed to believe that you were basically s*** on while wearing an Yzerman jersey in GM Place. I also know that Yzerman and Joe Sakic are treated like Gods in British Columbia. Of course I believe you.

    Bitter Canuck fans

I get the fact that you can't spell, but I don't get the "bitter" part.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

No I didn't. I implied that you guys should stop leaning on injuries as an excuse when other teams like the Canucks have also suffered devastating injuries and managed to win a few games. Besides, as someone above pointed out, Detroit's woes began with the loss of Dan Cleary. You might have a tougher time explaining to me how losing that 1 player started the Wings current skid. Let's get back for a moment to what started this huge discussion we're involved in now. Some people here pointed out that they thought the Canucks were lame for celebrating a win over an injured Detroit team (or words to that effect). All I'm saying is that a win is a win, this was not an exhibition game, it was worth 2 points and Detroit isn't the only team that has had to face injuries. The Canucks have also had more than their fair share of injuries this year, so suck it up because you're not the first team to face adversity when it comes to injured players. Besides, people suggesting that the Canucks, (or their fans) should not celebrate their wins is ludicrous. But now, I feel like we've gotten a little side-tracked from the comments of mine which sparked this discussion. We won -- let us celebrate -- yes you were hurt -- but you're not the only team that's ever been hurt. The entire Canucks defence sucked through October and we hardly won a game. By the time Bieksa was injured, (early November) they (including Bieksa) were all playing much better. I think your top 2 are better, after that, the Canucks defence is deeper, with arguably 2 or 3 Canucks being as good as Kronwall. The thing is, with the Canucks, it doesn't really drop off anywhere in the top 5. Ohlund, Mitchell, Bieksa, Salo, and Edler are all excellent defencemen and any one of them could be top 2 on many teams. That's what I'm talking about with depth. Plus, everyone after them has also been playing well. No one is stinking up the joint. You can argue that the Canucks lack offensive punch, and I would agree, but defense, the team is set for a few years and with Bieksa and Edler's emergence is only going to get better. And of course I'm going to take your word for that, you, who I don't know and have never met before and don't think I've ever talked to before. But let's say all that is true..... You go into a rival's building wearing your teams jersey -- that makes you the person making the opening statement to Canucks fans; you're not a fan of the Canucks, you're a fan of the team they're playing against tonight. I would hope that they'd treat you with respect, and I expect that they probably did (with Steve being a native British Columbian) but I also expect that they might have ribbed you a little, all in good nature of course. Now you're here and you see a chance to stick it to a Canucks fan, (me) because someone told you, "Stevie sucks". Good luck making me feel bad about that. You might've had a case if you got drenched in beer, your lights punched out, and posted the photos of your wet and battered face here to prove it, otherwise, you saying that someone hurt your sensitive feelings to me is like a night watching Comedy Central. Comedy Central can also be quite funny. Look, there are assholes all over place. I bet I could even find quite a few in the Joe, but this lame old tactic of picking out isolated incidents in order to judge an entire fanbase (and that's what you're doing) is just that, lame.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

I guess I'm just a little disappointed. Now, with some people putting down the Canucks organization and arrogantly claiming the Wings organization is better, I'm, as I said, a little disappointed. I guess when you say a forum is the best, there's only way direction to go from there -- right? No one has yet this addressed this comment of mine... "And no one has addressed my contention that the Wings starting stinking up the joint before they were really hit by the injury bug. Is this true or not?" I gotta go. I'm already running late being here.

    2/23 GDT: Canucks 4, Red Wings 1

You might want to cite a quote of mine where I said that. I'll save you the time. I didn't say that. I wouldn't say that. And I don't believe that. I did suggest that the Wings secondary scoring is thin, (as many of you also suggest) and that without Lidstrom and Rafalski leading the break-out, that the Wings become mere mortals like the rest of us. My beef has been this "Our injuries are worse than your injuries were" argument. I didn't whine about our injuries at the time, and yes possibly because we actually managed to win a few games while we were banged up. I don't know what it is you're not getting. We also lost our top 4. And Willie Mitchell is the best defensive defenceman on the Canucks. Anyone who claims that he's a scrub does not know hockey. Sorry dude.
