Glancing at this forum I see this topic.... "Wings must adjust to keep fan abuse alive" Thought to myself, "So that's why attendance is down." Then I read a little closer.
-
I'm totally taking your word for your interpretation of that, but it reminds me of a perfectionist being reminded of the fact that he's not perfect. As a Vancouver fan, it also makes me feel good. If a coach is that bothered by losing a game to a pretty good team, then it's not a stretch to think that his mood is one of over-confidence. "We're so good that we can't lose. If we do, I throw a temper tantrum and won't talk to you." Good on you Babcock. Stanley Cup playoff history is littered with teams that underachieved.

That's one hell of a detailed rebuttal. But thanks for trying.

Because he's very good? Because although the Canucks have been decimated by injuries and had to rely heavily on call-ups from the Manitoba Moose for much of the season, he has continually got 100 percent effort from his players? Because since November 2 and despite all those injuries, the Canucks have gone 12-0-2 at home and have also maintained a winning percentage on the road? Basically, someone would "think that" because he has the same team as last year, they're well ahead of their performance from last year, and Vigneault won the Adams last year. If you win one year, and then do even better the next year, is it so surprising that he would be considered as coach of the year again? Sure. Luongo is the whole team. He not only stops shots, but he's the leading defenceman on the team, and even more surprising, Luongo is the Canucks leading scorer. He also takes your ticket and directs you to your seat when you attend a game at GM Place.

Yzerman Induction to Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame
Chairman Maouth replied to 96warrior's topic in General
Now in the BC Sports Hall of Fame. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto.../TPStory/Sports He's being interviewed right now on local (BC) radio. -
Sorry for being a little rude.

Oh, that silly Bob Clarke on that silly Steve Downie
Chairman Maouth replied to Wings_Dynasty's topic in General
I can't stand Downie, but linesmen are supposed to restrain both players equally so this stuff never happens. If they don't, someone is going to take advantage and throw a punch. Tempers get hot out there, but I haven't seen anyone blaming the linesmen yet. That's one of their responsibilities. -
Sigh

Get yourself informed.

Ahhh yer all a bunch of morons. Actually, this place is pretty cool. Fairly intelligent hockey minds, and not too hostile to a Canucks fan like myself.

As a rule, Canadians are far less hung up on profanity making it onto the airwaves than Americans are. You could see the Sopranos unedited on basic network TV (CTV) and the CBC frequently runs documentaries and movies unedited, not to mention countless other networks. Our History channel runs Deadwood unedited and CTV also ran the Osbournes unedited. I always thought it was kind of funny that if an American wanted to see the Osbournes unedited he had to tune into basic Canadian TV to do it. FYI - CTV and CBC would be akin to ABC, NBC and CBS in America. Available on the airwaves and basic cable to everyone. As for sports though, I imagine what happened tonight was an unintentional slip. You don't normally hear that from the commentators.

I wonder if there's a math genius around here who could tabulate the ratio of goals scored on penalty shots versus goals scored during a 2 minute penalty. I bet it might be closer than we think, and if it is, you might not think it's so dumb.
-
I've always thought that's a good idea. Give him the option. I alos think that a delay of game penalty for shooting the puck over the boards should only be 1 minute.

******-bag hit by Maltby. From behind and into the open door. Very dangerous.

3-2 Canucks. Overtime or SO.

True. Bieksa's out. Having a baby.

has a referee or linesman ever fought a hockey player during a game?
Chairman Maouth replied to sirdrake1's topic in General
Retired NHL linesman John D'amico could kick Chelios's ass. He was one tough sonofabitch. Can't recall who threw the punch, but he was nailed at least once that I saw. Cut himk pretty good. He didn't even flinch. A linesman is not going to fight though. Kind of a silly suggestion. -
Who knows. I've never been impressed with players who make excuses. Just thought you guys might want to read that for yourselves.

Official Monday GDT: Stars @ Canucks, 9PM EST
Chairman Maouth replied to Wings_Dynasty's topic in General
esteef...... Gesundheit. Haven't watched much hockey I see. When a team gets badly outplayed as Dallas did, they often take bad penalties. You're in panic mode, the opposing team is skating circles around you and you have a tendency to hook and slash out of frustration to get back on a level playing field. Canucks won. Fair and square. -
For a little perspective..... I remember when the Blue Jays won the World Series in 1992. I was fairly certain that one of the American network announcers was going to pull a gun and off his buddies and then himself right on the air. The fact that that didn't happen, probably says more about him just being unprepared and unarmed than it does about anything else.
-
No, here, on this board. Do some math. Besides, it was a 4-1 Vancouver win. It wasn't even close.
-
Saw it. Detroit got what they deserved. Besides, if I remember correctly, the general sentiment here was that the penalties equalled out.

I bought a new wide-screen high definition TV in January, and damn-near put a beer through it after Kerry Fraser called that delay of game penalty on Luongo. I'm still freakin' flabbergasted, bewildered, whatever -- at that call. Luongo has Sharks crawling all over him, covers up and gets called for delay of game. That penalty allowed the Sharks to tie the game up. It was the worst officiated game I've ever seen the Canucks involved in. I say this with all seriousness -- but I think San Jose wrote Fraser a check before the game.

Dumbest thing you've ever heard another teams fans say

Nice analogy.
