Then you got the wrong guy.

    Getting Anxious

I hope he gets his game back, but he's been damaged by the Moore incident. All his future actions will be weighed against what happened before, both in his own mind, and in the minds of others. I'd just like to see him concerned with his game and leave the enforcing to others. If he can do that, you'll be just as happy with him. The number one thing about Bertuzzi is that he has to be happy to play well. If he's happy in Detroit, then watch out. I know this because I'm a Canucks fan and I was picking up on his skills long before he was any kind of sensation. He was happy and hungry back then and through 2003, but a long time has passed and time will tell if he's able to get his game back. But I think it's safe to say that he's going to leave enforcing for others.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you will never see Bertuzzi involved in another retaliation of any kind that involves a third party. Be thankful if he just gets his regular hitting game back along with his aggressive play in front of the net.

Well he's a good reason. The Wings have a history of having some pretty respectable players. By "respectable", I mean not only their skill, but their integrity. It's why I like this forum too. The people are about the best of any NHL forum there is.

Oh yeah -- THAT game. I don't know if Bert will be playing though. I wish him well though, just not too well against us. So how did you get to be a Wings fan from BC?

In Vancouver right now on one of the big talk shows they're talking about it replacing towel power (waving of the white towel) which was born in Vancouver in 1982 by Roger Neilsen, or it becoming like the Detroit octopus.

Have you met any current/former Red Wings? If so...

I met Gordie Howe at an autograph signing session when I was a kid, and I hung out with Red Berenson and his family for 2 weeks at my uncle's ranch in Alberta. I also hung out with Glenn Hall there. My uncle was a pro with both Chicago and St. Louis and spent time in the minors. He had a ranch near Caroline, Alberta and when I was a kid I'd spend every summer there while I was out of school. Red came to the ranch to stay for 2 weeks with his entire family. One thing I remember is Red's wife falling off a horse and injuring her hip, not seriously though. Another thing I remember is that Red and his family arrived there late at night but none of us saw them pull in. I heard something on the front porch and looked out the window and saw out of the corner of my eye what I thought was a Black Bear. I grabbed the 30-30 Winchester off the wall and went back to the window and there's Red Berenson walking up. The "Black Bear" was Red's humongous Newfoundland dog. If you've ever seen a Newfoundland you'll understand the confusion. Anyways, Red and his family stayed with us for 2 weeks and we had a riot drinking beer into the late night and shooting guns at the moon. Glenn Hall also lived in Alberta and was probably my uncle's closest friend from hockey and he used to drop in from to time. Other players I've met and knew quite well (at one point in time) were Bobby Clarke and Don Saleski. Another Uncle of mine was also a pro and was coach of the year in the WHA in 1977 (I think) for the Phoenix Roadrunners.

Bertuzzi ethics... help settle an argument

    It felt like 14-2.

Bertuzzi ethics... help settle an argument

All very true. Also, it was the last meeting of the regular season between Vancouver and Colorado and the last chance for any goonery outside the playoffs. I'm sure that was also on their minds along with the 8-2 score. And even if Vancouver and Colorado did meet in the playoffs, that wouldn't be the place to collect on any outstanding debts. That game was the last chance of the year to collect and like it or not, the best chance to settle a debt like that is when the games outcome has already been decided. The writing was on the wall; blowout game and last chance of the season.

Bertuzzi ethics... help settle an argument

Turretin.... I'm repeating this post of mine from page 1. Judging by what you've written about "broken spines", "spinal surgery", and the high cost of spinal surgeons, there's no way you could have seen it. ----------------------- Bertuzzi certainly didn't intend to injure Moore to the extent that he did. Anyone who claims that Bertuzzi tried to break Moore's neck is an idiot or an Avs fan. And much has been made about Moore's broken neck but it was never as serious from a medical standpoint as many people claimed. There were 2 small undisplaced right-sided C3 and C4 transverse process fractures that required nothing more than for Moore to take it to easy for them to heal. Sometimes these fractures even go undiagnosed for a period of time. The neck has not been what has kept Moore out of hockey. The only thing holding him back now is post-concussion syndrome; common among NHL'ers and commonly recovered from, especially after an initial concussion like Moore's. And interestingly enough, commonly recovered from in a far shorter time than it's taking Moore to recover. I know. I'm sounding sceptical of Moore's injuries, but the vast majority of athletes who suffer a first moderate concussion go on to recover to play again. With a massive lawsuit launched by a player whose earning potential in the NHL would have never matched what he could have made in the lawsuit -- damn-right I'm sceptical. But I hated what Bertuzzi did and it was a major meltdown on his part. He apologized and I felt it was sincere so as a Canucks fan and a forgiving person, I forgave him the same way I forgave Marty McSorley. I've seen Bertuzzi compared to pedophiles and murderers. The man has been truly vilified because of the publicity surrounding a player of his calibre and the injuries suffered by Moore. In my opinion he's paid his dues and it's time to move on. Hope he entertains you all very well and doesn't have too much of an impact against the Canucks. ----------------------- This post of yours was much better than the one I was addressing. Well done.

    Playoffs: Wings vs ?

I'm a Canucks fan, and until you guys got Bertuzzi I would have had no problem facing Detroit in any round of the playoffs. Vancouver seems to beat Detroit on a fairly regular basis and Detroit has lost in the first round 3 out of the last 4 years in the playoffs. Detroit has basically melted down in the playoffs and I could absolutely see that happening against Vancouver too. But now Detroit worries me. Sure Bertuzzi is still an unknown entity in regards to whether or not he can get his game back, but if he does, he's capable of carrying a team on his back to victory. It would be a great series though and I would absolutely love to see it.
