I doubt everyone knows that's Pam Anderson. Just watched an interview with Trevor Linden. Ron McLean doing it. Linden tells of how he used to get to the rink at 4:00 p.m. and hang out with the Sedins. He said if the Wings were playing that the Sedins had to have the game on. They admired the Wings that much. If you can get CBC the interview starts a little after the 26 minute mark, Sedins/Wings about 27:10: http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/Hockey/1249236098/ID=1969031229 -

I'm laughing. And the only thing I find funnier is the holier-than-thou reaction. A guy sticks his finger up my nose and tries to widen my left nostril and sticks a second one in my mouth -- damn right I'll bite it off. Furthermore, I watched all the Sportsnet and TSN programs yesterday. Pretty much every analyst they had on said they had either been bitten by or had bitten someone in their careers during a face wash. And these aren't all young guys either. Hell, even Cliff Ronning said he bit Tie Domi. CLIFF RONNING!.. And Ronning bit Domi's bare finger. Take a chill pill folks. This dog is older than all of us. -

I'm not going to be around as much during the finals guys. Got asked to help out on another hockey board. It will probably take a lot of my time, at least for now. I know you will all miss the absolute hell out of me. And please be kind to my team. -

Bourdon and Burrows were very close. When Burrows does that archer thing after a big goal that's in memory of Luc. For awhile there it seemed like tragedy was following members of the Canucks. Less than a year after Bourdon was killed Taylor Pyatt's fiance was also killed in an accident. -

Three years ago today. Luc Bourdon (February 16, 1987 – May 29, 2008) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL) and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, from 2006 until 2008. After overcoming childhood arthritis, he was selected third overall in the 2003 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) draft and played for the Val-d'Or Foreurs, Moncton Wildcats, and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, spending four seasons in the QMJHL. The Canucks drafted Bourdon with their first selection, tenth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Noted as a strong defenceman who could contribute on offence, Bourdon represented Canada in three international tournaments, winning two gold medals at the IIHF World U20 Championship and a silver medal at the IIHF World U18 Championship. Bourdon died at the age of 21 near his hometown of Shippagan, New Brunswick, when his motorcycle collided with a tractor trailer. Bourdon was killed instantly in a motorcycle collision in Lamèque, New Brunswick, near his hometown of Shippagan on May 29, 2008, when he hit a tractor-trailer after losing control of his 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and crossing the centre line. Environment Canada showed winds gusting to more than 50 km/h (31 mph) in the area at the time of the accident. The RCMP stated that Bourdon's inexperience with motorcycles may have been a factor in the crash. From Wikipedia -

That was a game where the Canucks out-hit the Bruins nearly into oblivion but lost 3-1 (empty netter). It was also around the time when the Canucks defence was so beat up that they were down to about the number 14 defenceman on the depth charts. Even the call-up replacements for the injured top 6 were getting injured. That game is not a very valid comparison to draw any conclusions from, other than that the Canucks defence is incredibly deep considering they continued to play better than .500 hockey through that time. An orca is not a fish. If a bear ever tried to eat an orca it would be taken back into the food chain and converted into a brown slick on the ocean within about 24 hours. -
Canuck GM Gillis cautiously optimistic Manny Malhotra can return for Cup final By Jim Morris, The Canadian Press – 1 hour ago VANCOUVER — The chances of Manny Malhotra returning to play in the Stanley Cup final have improved now that the Vancouver Canuck centre has been cleared for light contact in practice. Mike Gillis, the Canucks' general manager, says there's cautious optimism that Malhotra, out since March 16 with a serious eye injury, might appear in the NHL final. Kesler, on being asked about his injury last game when he left the game for a few minutes: "I felt fine. I remembered that I left the iron on and went to call my wife."

I didn't hear the radio broadcast myself, but I just read on HF that Mike Gillis was on the Team 1040 a few minutes ago. From a normally reliable poster: edit: One of the quotes just verified on Twitter by Matt Sekeres of the Team 1040 mattsekeres Matthew Sekeres Canucks GM Mike Gillis "I have no idea" on whether Manny Malhotra could play in SC final.

The punch that led Kevin Bieksa to Canucks May, 25, 2011 5:22 PM ET By Pierre LeBrun And to think, it was a punch in a Winnipeg parking lot that helped get playoff hero Kevin Bieksa his first pro contract with the Vancouver Canucks. What, you say? Enter former Canucks GM Brian Burke, who on Tuesday recounted to ESPN.com the story of Bieksa and the Canucks, which began in Winnipeg near the end of the 2003-04 season. "He played his four years at Bowling Green. They were eliminated from the playoffs, and we brought him to Manitoba [AHL] on a PTO [professional tryout]," Burke said. "One night after a game in Winnipeg, in which I don't think he played, they went to a local establishment. Fedor Fedorov was sitting at a table and Bieksa walked by the table, bumped him by accident and spilled Fedorov's beer. Bieksa apologized and offered to buy another beer." According to Burke, Fedorov was in no mood for the apology from the unknown rookie and challenged him to a fight outside. Bieksa again tried to defuse the situation, according to Burke, but Fedorov wanted to fight. "So, they go outside. Fedor was a big guy, he was a lot bigger than his brother Sergei," said Burke. "Then Fedor comes in and Bieksa drills him with one punch. Knocks him stone cold and cut wide-open and leaves him lying on the pavement." Burke said Bieksa figured he was done with the Canucks organization and would be sent home the next day. "Send him home? I said, 'We're going to sign him tomorrow,'" said Burke, whose affinity for truculence is well-established. Bieksa played 80 games with the Moose the following season before graduating to the Canucks in 2005-06. http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/8493/the-punch-that-led-kevin-bieksa-to-canucks
