    Nashville vs. Vancouver

If it wasn't for Rinne I think they would have won by 5 goals. And who knows if last night was the Preds being bad or the Canucks being good. That's the third game in a row the Canucks have dominated the opposition and the only reason the other team stayed in it was due to three consecutive games of stellar goal-tending. Damn that sounds homerish. But it's true. I think the Preds probably had a bit of a bad game though.

The Preds may very-well play better Saturday, but I don't think rust had anything to do with last night. That's stretching the boundaries of trying to find an excuse. They only had 3 days off between games. Rinne let in a goal and Luongo let it none. Of course I understand what you're saying - that Rinne looked spectacular, but if the Preds didn't test Luongo the way the Canucks tested Rinne, it's a bit of a misnomer in my opinion to say Luongo was outplayed. He did everything he was called upon to do.

Yeah what the hell I'll chip in. A Wings/Canucks WC final would be cool.

Errr yeah right. Kinda forgot about that.

I can see the Wings giving up a lead early tomorrow then getting their legs in the second or third. If they don't give up too much of a lead they should be able to fight back in.

Yep. Kinda what most people expected. Like I said earlier, if tonight is any indication of how the series is going to go, Rinne is the Preds only hope.

Edited per Jedi's request. If tonight is any indication, Rinne is the Preds only hope.

A troll is generally someone who comes to an opposing team's forum for the sole purpose of baiting and insulting the home team and their fans. I'm pretty sure that after six years here my secret would be out by now if you were right. Come to think of it, you're wrong about a lot of things aren't you.

I've watched it half a dozen times in high def on a big screen. The point of contact on Tootoo is upper thigh/hip.

It's impossible to argue with someone who's essentially saying the sky is not blue - it's purple with yellow polka dots. If you believe that, it's your reality and I can't change it. And I was going to cite the same rule for you, but if you believe the point of contact was the knees then there's nothing more to argue about except maybe how bad your eyesight really is.

It was ass to hip. That's what a hip check is. Ballard and Hamhuis throw a couple dozen of them every year just like that and don't get penalized. But with the general consensus being it was a good legal hit, you can be the exception that proves the rule.

    Canucks' GM Questions Officiating

Gillis referred as much to non-calls on the Hawks, not just calls on the Canucks. The blatant Bolland slash breaking Sedin's stick -- the punch in the face by the Hawks goon (can't remember his name). Stuff like that are obvious penalties yet they weren't called with the refs attention firmly focused on these events. Still, I'm not going to blame the refs if we lose. I will blame the Canucks for s***ting the bed on 2 consecutive nights.

    Canucks' GM Questions Officiating

Gillis is making himself the centre of attention and taking the heat off the team. Today, Gillis is the main story, not Luongo, not the Sedins, not Kesler -- it's Mike Gillis. Good job I say. As for penalties being the reason why the Canucks may lose the series -- s***ting the bed in magnificent fashion in games 4 and 5 is why they may lose the series.

Absolutely it did. Richardson ducked and of course there was head contact. Another example of mass hysteria about head shots.

    Vancouver new tradition

Kudos on most of your explanation. As someone who has spent a ton of time working on the ocean in BC, that's very accurate except for one thing. I'm sure you knew this already and were simply speaking generally, but we need to be somewhat charitable to our American friends when it comes to the sciences and understanding the infaunal make-up of their friendly northern neighbour. BC resident orcas would probably not know a penguin from Danny Devito. There are no penguins in the northern hemisphere (except in a zoo). Of course it is true that orcas hunt penguins in the southern hemisphere but we don't want to provide our American friends with any kind of erroneous information lest they interpret it incorrectly. I say this only because it was once suggested to me by an American that I "piss off and go back to my igloo with my polar bears and penguins". In short, too much information can be dangerous but too little can be downright hilarious. Carry on.

Update on the homos (with pictures) The bright pink T-shirts were eye-catching enough. Add blue wigs, costume jewelry and the words "Hockey Luvin Homo," and the two fans seated behind the Vancouver Canucks' bench in their win over the Los Angeles Kings found immediate celebrity status on Thursday night. Digital recorders were rewound. Screen caps were created and emailed through the hockey fan community. The Royal Half, a Kings blog, posted their image; Deadspin made their image the first post of Friday morning with the headline: "It Took A Self-Proclaimed 'Hockey Luvin Homo' To Make A Canucks-Kings Game Noteworthy." More - too much more: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Meet-the-8216-Hockey-Luvin-Homos-8217-for-th?urn=nhl-wp1639 The green men were in attendance too.

Best passers of the past 30 years

Through the haze I saw one thing but didn't see another. In the title I saw "Best passers". In the OP I didn't see Henrik Sedin. Then I started writing. From there it was all downhill and here I am today; a posterchild for abstinence.

Best passers of the past 30 years

Yeah that was the beer talking and me not properly comprehending what I was replying to. I still think they should probably be on anyone's short list though -- if not now, then after another couple seasons.

Best passers of the past 30 years

I think the fact that Henrik won the Art Ross and Hart mainly on assists indicates there's more to him than failed attempts at flashy passes. If that's true, (and I'm not saying it isn't) then Gretzky could stand as the best at everything for a very long time. However there is still the reality to do deal with; that being that every year conditioning improves, skating improves, shots improve, etc., etc. I think what you suggested may be the best way to gauge things though.

Best passers of the past 30 years

There's a method to my madness. I've seen him make some of the most incredible passes and plays I've ever seen. Is the best passer one who racks up the most assists? Or one who consistently makes highlight reel plays and passes that have never been seen before? I don't know the answer and I'm too hungover to search for it in my brain.

First time in nearly 6 years I've been accused of spamming. Typical noob over-reaction.

Best passers of the past 30 years

Yeah yeah I know. After reading a couple of my posts from yesterday I realize I shouldn't post when I've been drinking. I pretty-much zoned on the "30 years" thing. In addition, I didn't notice who was on the lists - I only noticed who wasn't. But I'm not totally backing down. Henrik won the Hart Trophy last year mainly on the strength of his passing/playmaking, but it's hard not to pick Gretzky over anyone when it comes to anything. His stats are ridiculous. Lemieux too. However, the sheer creativity of the Sedins in my opinion trumps even Gretzky when it comes to playmaking. Their no-look tip passes, no-look backhands behind them or between the legs - I just don't recall Gretzky going there the way the Sedins do. It's also difficult to compare different players from different eras. The talent level in professional sports is an ever-improving thing. What I'm saying is that Henrik (and Daniel) in my opinion should be on anyone's short list if they continue their current play for a a couple more years. If they're not, then said person or persons probably haven't seen them play very much. Broken 16 -- I don't see one hockey argument in your last post at all. All I see are a bunch of insults towards me and other Canucks fans. Are you a ****** in real life or do you just play one on the internet?
