It just walked back in.

Their cross-rink 80 feet down the ice 20 feet up in the air backhand saucer passes always leave me boondoggled in amazement. Slightly off-topic -- I try not to intrude in your guys Wings only threads -- but I gotta say I'm (hesitatingly) hoping the Wings recover their mojo. They've had a rough go of it lately, but a Canucks/Wings western final could be epic.

I think Henrik is top three and possibly the number one passer ever -- and Daniel isn't far behind. For me, my opinion trumps yours. For you, yours trumps mine.
-
Don't need anyone with a chip on their shoulder to make me feel better Hank. Someone piss in your cereal this morning?
-
Yeah I'm a Canucks fan, but the fact that no one has mentioned the Sedins is ludicrous. Henrik Sedin may be the best passer ever. At the very least Henrik definitely, and possibly both of the Sedins deserve to be high up on anyone's top 10 list. edit: just noticed nosyt612's post. Not everyone here has blinders on.

I call BS on that one. Canucks clinch President's Trophy tonight.
-
Well just remember Hank that the bads ones always tend to get noticed more than the good ones, and there are plenty of good ones. Lol @ "I truly hope we can make it far enough to play against them." I hope we make it far enough to play the Wings.

Crapcount - 11 Here's a suggestion about how to deal with obnoxious Canucks fans in the future.... Before you go to the game print up 5 or 6 flyers that document the Stanley Cup success of the Wings since 1996. Maybe add to it the Canucks "success" over the same time period -- or better yet, since 1970. Give one of those flyers to whomever annoys you.

There was some content in my last post that wasn't directed at you. I covered two or three of you in my response. Sure people can be idiots and to suggest there are no idiot Canucks fans would be foolish. However, that's no different than any fan base and generalizing can also often be foolish. It comes off sounding like you're saying your s*** don't stink. I will grant you though that there may be more people going overboard this season with the success of the Canucks to date. As a matter of fact, I'd bet good money on it. It may or may not be similar to what went on in Detroit in 1996 after over 40 years of futility. My point is again, that people (Detroiters, Vancouverites) are more similar than they are different. Both of our turds stink of digested hockey.

Seriously Hank? Oh my God no! People shouted the name of a player at a sporting event? Call Homeland Security! And flags to support their nation and their team? The humanity! Are you guys really this thin-skinned? Try going to a Canucks game when Montreal, Toronto or Calgary is in town. You'd be embarrassed you even mentioned this in the first place. As for Canucks fans "practically starting fights", ("practically" - what does that even mean?) well I always believe unsupported and unconfirmed testimonials by anonymous people on the internet -- especially if the testimonial comes after a loss to a conference rival. That's as good as taking an oath in a court of law as far as I'm concerned. This complaining about Canucks fans is only a deflection to make you feel better about the loss. The refereeing wasn't downright atrocious so I guess you've got to grab whatever figurative pacifier you can find. Get over it. There have been far more Canucks fans in arenas in the western states this year, but far fewer tears from the hometown crowd about them being there. Dry those tears guys. It was just one game. Odds are you'll have a chance at revenge in the playoffs.

It's really weird how you see far fewer posts like this when the home team wins.

Canucks weren't healthy last night. Missing their top defenceman, a top 6 forward and one of the best penalty killers and face-off men in the league. As a matter of fact, the Canucks second best defenceman just returned to the line-up last night after 6-7 weeks out and was a little rusty. Canucks haven't played with a full line-up all year.

Lidstrom?

Sweet creeping Jesus..... I posted 20 minutes ago, open my email and get about 120 alerts from here saying so-and-so has posted. Anyways -- Canucks looking a little rusty after so many days off. Edge to the Wings in the first period. I would expect the Canucks will pick it up in the second as they get their legs back. Nine different streams for anyone who needs them: http://www.myp2pforum.eu/threads/53930-NHL-Today!-March-23rd-2011

Hey syntax. Yeah they treaded water a little through the worst of it and alternated wins and losses for a few games but held up fairly well. More recently we've won 7 of our last 8 games. Man am I looking forward to puck drop tonight. Lidstrom said today that the Canucks are a measuring stick for the Red Wings, but we always see it that way too.

Should be a good game tonight. Both teams are dealing with a number of quality injured players -- and for the Canucks Kevin Bieksa is in his first game back after about 6 weeks so he will be a little rusty. The chatter on Vancouver sports radio today is that this could be the last truly meaningful game of the regular season for the Canucks. If they can beat Detroit tonight it's pretty much coasting from here on out. With the Canucks not having played in nearly a week, I expect they will be a little out-of-synch to begin with and the Wings will really take it to them in the first period and get an early lead. If the Canucks can start the second period only one or two goals down they should be able to make a game of it. Another thing they talked about on Vancouver radio today was the hot topic of the day; dirty hits, head injuries and suspensions. They said that you just never hear about Detroit talked about in that context. Obviously, that was flattering towareds the Red Wings. The media in Vancouver has a great deal of respect for Ken Holland and your team.

Daniel and his wife had their baby and he will play tomorrow. Sammy however is taking a couple of days off. mattsekeres Matthew Sekeres Daniel Sedin's wife gave birth to a baby girl. All healthy and happy. Sedin will play in Detroit tomorrow. sportsnetmurph Dan Murphy Samuelsson (lower body) needs a couple days off so Oreskovich has been recalled from Manitoba. Its an emergency call up.

Rypien was a scratch in a lot of the games last playoffs and even with Malhotra out the Canucks are still considerably deeper at forward this year than they were last year. If anyone gets a call-up for the playoffs I expect it will be Cody Hodgson. It could be just what the kid needs to shine and show his stuff after all he's been through.
-
Henrik has always been the Dean Martin to Daniel's Jerry Lewis. One provides the set-up - the other provides the punch line. If Danny hadn't been injured last year he more than likely would have beat out his brother for the Art Ross and Hart.
-
Malhotra is done for the season and playoffs. http://www.theprovince.com/news/Malhotra+miss+remainder+season+including+playoffs/4479760/story.html Danny Sedin may still join the team by Wednesday in Detroit.

Not sure if they've ever been a legitimate favourite until this year. And while they were an improved team the previous two seasons, they still took a back seat to Detroit, San Jose and Pittsburgh -- and to Chicago in the opinion of a lot of people. Luongo's struggled against Chicago for sure, particularly in game 6 against the Hawks 2 years ago. Last year was more a game 6 team collapse with our D dropping like flies. People forget how banged up our D was last year. Personally, even before that game started I thought we didn't have much of a chance. But that's exactly why Gillis went out and got Ballard and Hamhuis in the off-season. Been wondering a lot lately what the chances are that the Wings and Canucks meet in the conference finals. That would be a tough match-up for either team.
-
I get San Jose, but how are the Canucks chokers? Haven't lost to a team with fewer points in about 8 years and when the team barely resembled what it is now. Isn't a team that chokes one that loses to a team that's perceived to be weaker?
-
Hamhuis and Ballard back this week. Bieksa in about two and Edler should be back in 5 or 6 weeks and in time for the playoffs. If that all comes to pass it will be the first time all year we've had all our top 6 in the line-up. Back to Bert... I remember watching him with the Canucks back in the late '90's before anyone had any idea what he could do. He'd make those wide charges down the wing, cut in and roof the puck on the backhand. I knew he was gonna be something special. Good to see he's happy again now.
-
Good to see the big dumb lug having a decent year. I wished him well when he left Vancouver but everyone knew it was time for him to go so both the Canucks and Bert could put the past behind them.
-
Yeah I know. It's just that I heard the name and couldn't place it for a second. Dan Hamhuis ready to go tonight but Coach Vig isn't panicking. Bringing him back next game on Tuesday against the Habs. Ballard is supposed to follow shortly afterwards next week. The storm we were facing may not be bad and as long as previously thought. Bieksa back in 2-3 weeks will give us 5 of our top 6 which we basically had all year anyway. It's just that Salo and Edler have switched places - Salo back and Edler injured now. He should be back for playoffs.
