as much as i love looking at the ice and seeing a HUGE man in ericsson, i think meech played with more fire and tenacity. this is not to say the wings should send him away by any means, but i think meech gets the call before ericsson IMO.

eva: i believe thats the point kwen was trying to make. although in an abrasive manner he was saying that the wings lettering is sewn directly to the sweater (which i also believe to be the case). the teams that use a nameplate (or used to, i'm not sure if the new RBK edge use them at all) all have/had the names completely straight across the back where as the wings and other teams have them set to a slight arch. check this pic out. above pavelski's * you can see (its tough but its there) a faint line around his name. that is a patch they sew the letters onto and then attach to the jersey. don't know which teams do it though... http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/photo?slug=c0e...114&prov=ap

With 6:41 remaining and the Caps up 1-0 In Boston, Donald Brashear takes a Triple minor (4 minutes for high sticking Krecji and a Roughing minor for decking Hnidy as he comes in to tell Brashear he's an ASS). As boston looks aenemic on the powerplay, another Cap takes a 2 min hooking penalty. Chara bombs a one timer in from the point to make it 1-1. Just enough time had passed on Brashears first minor that his original penalty expired and the Bruins Stayed on the 5 on 3. As one caps penalty Expires Poti slashes Murray's stick in 2 and boston scores on the ensuing 5 on 3. Bruins win 2-1. Terrible lack of discipline by Washington. Good to see a team make the most of opportunities given to them by stupid penalties. Craziest end to a game i've seen in a while. and the first time i've ever seen a triple minor. Boston needed this as they have looked wretched as of late.

Crazy Final Minutes In Boston

i agree running up the score is in some cases unnecessary. BUT. lets look at todays game vs. Nashville: say the wings got up 3 nil and decided to coast and not "run up the score" (not far from what happened TBH). nashville doesn't roll over and take the loss scoring 3 goals in the third. that game would have been tied and the wings would have jeopardized the extra point of a regulation win (not to mention nash is in their division). all i'm saying is that in the "new NHL" i've seen teams roar back from 4-5-6 goals down to tie and in some cases win games. 10-2, i know its a stretch to say they were just putting the game out of reach. but i believe there is some truth to it. i also agree to some extent with the poster who said that these are professional atheletes and they should be able to take it. -
is franzen on a stool? theres no way the mule is taller than ericsson is there? i thought he was like 6'4" or something insane. at least he looks that big on tv.

Crazy Final Minutes In Boston

I agree.... well until brashear went all butthead.... and then Poti took one errr TWO 2 handed slashes on murrays twig. that kinda evened up the idiotic moves in this tilt. i do feel for ovi and huet thought. ovi wasn't on the ice for the last 7 minutes due to the endless train of caps to the box and huet didn't really stand a chance with over 4 minutes of 5 on 3. -
grittzkey you slay me. tutu is a punk *****. i'd like to see him and pronger both just start hitting eachother in the face with their sticks, causing them to be injured severely enough to never play pro hockey again, but still able to live normal lives. (i dont wish deadly injurues on anyone, but career ending ones for these guys i can muster).

HORRIBLE blown call on Buffalo goal
sergei_is_still_a_wing replied to redwinger4747's topic in General
wow. that WAS bad. i mean come on. even the commentator says "what a pass". of course it was great, they cheated in order to pull it off. blatent. 4 striped men on the ice and none of them noticed that? jesus. osgod: i can no longer stand to look at your avi. seriously. i cover it with my hand every time. so if this was your aim, mission accomplished good sir. -
tell me this guy is kidding, right? man. i can't tell again. yes it will open to wide release in the US on June 20, 2008.

am i alone in the fact that i thought the bruins old third (yellow, huge bear face) were badass? i'll admit, my style is wierd as hell. but i thought they were cool (minus the wierd sleeve torn looking design). i like these new thirds too. black is sleek. wouldn't mind seeing the wings in those black practice sweaters. same exact cut but black and white with red/white emblem. might be cool to try pre-season and see how the fans like em.

Southern california is the greatest place to be in the world. i can drive max two hours in a number of directions and hit: another country, snow covered mountains, the beach, two arenas at which NHL games are held regularly, multiple stadiums with decent football/baseball teams, and Yuma, AZ. (errr ok forget about that last one). its great. and LA doesn't characterize socal. LA sucks. come on down to san diego for a real treat. that being said, i hope brad fits into the system quickly. we need our D back b/c we are getting stomped w/o them.

i've looked at TWO threads today, both of which you seem to try and derail with useless retorts aimed at flaming a response. so, i'm not gonna call you an ass or anything. i will just say, PLEASE stop with the anti-LGW user semantics and stick to hockey. please. we don't need people cutting others down for how nervous they are about how long nick will be out, or making comments about the fact that our best player night in and night out could get injured again. hell the guy could take a puck to the dome tomorrow that ends his career. but do we say that? NO. NO we don't. its unnecessary. note: any responses you leave from here on out will go unread and without reponse. just wanted to say that we come here for comradery and positive sentiments and nothing else. as to nicks absence for 3 weeks, it could be worse. it does suck, especially with kronner and raffi sitting. but it does give the youngins a chance to show us something (meech is a prime example).

just watched the replay of this GOAL for the first time moments ago (s***ty week at school). holy s***stick batman! what BS. i dont know where homer touched (let alone interfered) with jiggy walst he was IN the crease. i just flat out dont see it. this is a recurring theme with homer and it sucks. yes he gives goalies trouble. ITS HIS EFFING JOB. he doesn't have 24 goals because he threads needles like dats or zetts. he's and ******* in front of the net and thats how he earns his paycheck. any team in the league would drop big bucks for him simply for his PP prowess and ability to piss you off. i just don't understand how this call WITHOUT HESITATION gets made. ESPECIALLY with 44 seconds left and the wings controlling the game (or so it looks/sounds from the boards). i just hope this lulls the ducks into a false sense of hope and they get crushed in 4 come round 3.

craptacular.

OK... Wings win 37-4. Dats (13), Zetts (17), Lids (6), Dom.

hey DUCKGUY: i really appreciate your insight and perspective on this forum. you (as well as legionnaire [sp?]) have done nothing but calmly discuss hockey and its surrounding subjects in a fair and respectful manner. especially when most of the wings fans detest the ducks (mainly due to mr. cheapshot...i mean...Pronger). for this, i thank you! now. onto my question. obviously you are excited to be getting teemu back. i'm sure you threw a party when scotty laced em up again. BUT. isn't there some little part of you that is pissed off that they let the team play .500 hockey for half a year, for no reason other than they wanted rest? i don't buy the desire argument. 99% of me doesn't buy the "i didn't decide whether or not i was going to retire until 42 games deep" argument. so whats left? rest. they aren't ancient but are no spring chickens. hockey is a demanding game and can be very hard on the body. so this extra time off will help their stamina in the long run, no doubt. if lidstrom and zetterberg sat out 42 games and then came back and lit the NHL on fire, MOST of the fans of other teams would be pissed. and although i would be glad to have them back, i'd be a little pissed they sat back and watched the team struggle for 3 months. just wondering how you feel about the move, aside from the fact that having them back pleases you a great deal. THANKS! EDIT: this would be NOTHING like the teemu thing. he played for the ducks last year. now he's re-signing with the ducks. if teemu wanted to come back and play for vancuver or montreal or dallas, GO FOR IT. but he had no intention of playing for any team for the rest of his career than the ducks. if forsberg comes back to the highest bidder or whatever, thats COMPLETELY different. not to mention the fact that he has a glass ankle and didn't skate for months after surgery.

i think its bulls*** that players get to just hang around and come back to their team whenever they see fit. you have 4 months to decide wtf you're going to do during the offseason. and maybe, MAYBE there should be some sort of buffer in place for players with extreme/extenuating circumsatances, allowing them a few weeks into the season to make a retirement/waive no trade clause/ect. type decision. HOWEVER, the season is HALF F@CKING OVER. and i call bulls***. not to mention the fact that NOT ONE BUT TWO PLAYERS (both from the Yucks) have done this in 07/08. bettman should get off his ass and put something in the rulebook about this type of crap. Burke is a tool. i'm from southern cal and i hate the ducks. i'd rather the kings win the cup 5 years in a row then let pronger be in the same room with lord stanley's again... AND another thing: neidermeyer in the ASG was a joke. ok the guy can play D. but he played what 15 games? and somehow he's more deserving of other skaters that had played night in and night out? no way.

GST just who's side are you on? haha. your last 5 posts i've read are nothing but anti-everyone on the board! i see the bulk of your insight as trying to provide anti-homerish commentary. something the board needs here and there sure, but no need to talk s*** to the members man (ie drama queens). not telling you to keep your opinions to yourself, maybe just tone down the anger a bit? but i digress. he wasn't TRYING to eye gouge cleary. i don't even think HE could stupid to chris simons level, although he comes close at times. i think what people are saying is that all the ducks fans (and most likely pronger himself) are saying that pronger effed cleary up and cleary is a *****/look at him turtle yadda yadda. were just saying that given prongers 6" height advantage, he didn't need any other handicaps and the bloody eye made it a bit difficult to go toe to toe.

i wasn't until you suggested it! kidding. in a word: NO. the game last night showed me a lot, as did the bulk of the west coast swing. they beat luongo, they beat a surging sharks, wiped a terrible kings squad, and then held their own against a rough and talented team that had won 7 straight games at home to get the DUBYA. they have shown that they are the team to beat. they also have a decent amount of confidence from last years run, which a lot fo the young guns lacked. we are getting secondary scoring from multiple sources, and our goalie tandem continues to defy all logic by shutting teams down night after night. i think come april BABS will have them running drills in their sleep and they WILL be ready. i predict a WCF appearance against the ducks once again. from there is anyones guess...

JUST GOT BACK FROM THE GAME!!!! i was so ridiculous when sammy scored on the semi-breakaway i was jumping up and down and hugging my buddy, causing him to spill a good 1/3 of his beer on the kings fan in front of us! we blamed it on the guy behind us!!! amazing game. and im walking out of the game and these kids yell "yeah way to go you beat the worst team in the league." to which i replied "good one. way to go on being a fan of the worst team in the league. too bad wayne couldn't carry your organization after he left." one kings fan did make a valid point: "i hate it when the wings come to town. it sucks because i can't say, hey you guys suck. because you've been the best team in the league for years..." THATS RIGHT SON. AWESOME experience. the wings never let me down....

LGWers take in Wings' practice in SoCal
sergei_is_still_a_wing replied to VladyIBELIEVE16's topic in General
its official, i have the hugest man crush on zetts. look at him. crap i wish i was swedish and athletic. and yzermania: i'm not trying to be a skeeze or anything but your lady friend is great looking. nothing like an attractive female in the winged wheel. party on wayne! -
first two sentences: ok, i might buy that. second two: leave me going just because they make a good combo doesn't mean they BOTH deserve to go. its the allstar game. if were taking combos just because they compliment eachother well, we'd need the first line of the wings and sens and the most dominating goalie tandem in the game OZZIE AND DOM. doesn't work that way. plus the entire "every team needs a representative" thing is BS. let the fans vote on the ENTIRE roster i say and if you're selected, you GO. we can't force anyone to play in it, but if it were one of those unwritten rule sort of things, players would show.

section 209 row 10. i'll be in my away white feds and my buddy will be in the home Fischer (#8). HERES TO MAKING IT 16 OF THE LAST 17 AGAINST LA! DO WORK, SON. DO WORK. sidenote: anyone know any good places to grab a bite before the game. not to pricey but a sit down non-fast food type place? i'd rather spend 20 on our way into staples on a large meal than 12 bucks for a slice of pizza... thanks in advance and see you RWNW'ers there....
