1st star: Mike Babcock. I don't know what he did but after the two piss poor displays in calgary and all the momentum shifting their way he ralied the troops who put together a great couple of games. sure the players did the work and i give them A TON of credit, dont get me wrong here, but the man behind the bench can swing things and i think he made great decisions. 2nd Star: CLEARLY CLEARY. duh. he was an animal. at the outset of the season he was firing on all cylinders. towards the end he was less than top line material but still produced. BUT HOLY CRAP did he turn it on in the first round. amazing. 3rd star: LILJA. haha. he was great but thats a bit of a stretch. LIDS/DATS split for 3rd star. they were both great in creating offense and shutting down the other teams. great work all around though and a hard fought well deserved series.

my thoughts: LILJA: 10 times better than i've ever seen him play. EVER. he realllly stepped up and showed he deserves to start. got some time on the pk too which shows how impressed babs was too. QUINCEY: just awesome. in two years i expect him to be 2-3rd line d man with this club (or be traded for another role player the wings need). BERT: earned his spot. hit well, passed well. made good hockey decisions. an asset for sure. DATSYUK: man did he earn his money. i was kind of on the fence about handing him huge money BEFORE he proved he deserved it. but i'll eat my crow and say he was just fantastic. ZETTS: still something to prove in round 2 IMO, but this is due soley to his injury and rustyness after missing 20 games. his 3 pt game five should be proof enough he's gonna start lighting the lamp a lot more real soon. DOM: less than kipper of course but still real solid. maybe 1-3 goals in the series can be pegged on him. and on back to back nights he played awesome. his unorthadox style is fun to watch. BABS: A++ for taking this thing by the reigns after game 4. he showed me he really knows how to coach. SOMEHOW sitting REX in away games was the right thing to do??? i dont know. but whatever the formula was, it worked. wings dominated both games 1,2,5, and 6 and if it weren't for kipper it would have ended sooner. FRANZENSTEIN: WAY TO GO SHOWING THOSE FLAMERS HOW WE DO IT IN THE BIG D. mess with the mule, he makes you a tool. way to go with that amazing shot. payback is a *****. MVP: should go to kipper (LBH he played out of his mind) but i gotta give it to a wing so... MIKE BABCOCK. he rallied the troops and kept his head in the game. props to him. HERES TO ROUND TWO. BRING ON TURCO!!!! (god i hope its dallas).

he played awesome. for the amount of pressure he was under, with what happened in game 5, and being in that type of away arena, he FAR exceeded my expectations. plus HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE ADRIAN BRODY! anyone else think so???

first i would be pissed that someone on MY team would do something that f@cking dumb. i still HATE thats right HATE BERTUZZi for what he did to steve moore. i am also glad he is on our team and wearing the winged wheel, but that was classless, thoughtless, senseless brutality that just doesn't belong in the game. BUT, he served his time. if he ever did anything close to that again i hope he would never be allowed within 30 miles of an ice rink though.... so, that being said, does it make it easier to believe that if our back up did that i would hope he got 15-20 games to think about it? cus i would.

anyone who thinks the hit on langkow was "viscious" (as some flames idiot has put it) hasn't watched hockey any time this century. it was a clean, low, forceful hit. rob blake used to hit like this beautifully in his prime, all of which is exciting and legal. if that was viscious you must think scott stevens hits on karyia and lindros were "the dirtiest hits you've ever seen" as well. bulls***. the hit was fantastic and part of hockey. a sucker punch is not. that ***** should be out for the series. and the nhl better make up their minds by tomorrow and bench his ass.

now that i think about it, it was a strange time to put in a backup. you would put him in immediately after the 5th goal now wouldn't you? and to top it off what was it 33 seconds after he went in that he slashed 2 times and then clubed franzen? premeditated. im 90% sure about it now. im interested to hear what the players and coaches will say in the press now...

My dad grew up on 13 mile and woodward. need i say more? haha my grandparents still live there. great place to be too. not in the crap part of the big D but close enough to get cought up in the sport. woodward dream cruise is my yearly trip. been since i was 10 and haven't skipped one yet. man is that fun... but i digress. ever since i can remember it was "no no son. don't root for them. the wings are on. they are much better. and always will be. remember that...." now thats good parenting!!!
